Awww....  he doesn't have one. I was always thinking that he would have a really good scene. Seem to remember some banter in which to tired to help Fenris move on after slavery. That could also have been me daydreaming, playing DA2 with a heavy cold at the moment.

This should have happened. My first playthrough, my Hawke was so ridiculously lonely at that point, it was ridiculous.

And how about Aveline?  She comes off as pretty protective of Hawke, and she has a special dialogue for Hawke after the All that Remains quests.

I'm pretty sure "most supportive companion" depends on how you play the game as well as preference.  "Sweetest" and "most compassionate" are probably YMMV, as well.  It's subjective.

Aaand? Yes, it's my opinion... in a forum of all things, go figure. *shrugs*

I find it odd that I'm being criticized for finding Sebastian particularly supportive, sweet, or compassionate... in the Sebastian Support Group! But hey, whatever. I suppose people who don't care for him need a place to express their opinion as well.

It comes off a little bit differently on rivalry.  He's still a very good, very compassionate person at heart, but he's quite a bit less idealistic and naive, less sweet.  I'd say that it also depends on which path you take with your companions.  On friendship, for example, Anders is surprisingly sweet.

Yay! The little burb you get from him about the memorial for Hawkes mom is actually what made me notice him the first time. I thought it was such a thoughtful gesture.

Hey, I think he's sweet, too! Lame as it is that there's no comfort scene, I was relieved there was something. Putting Leandra's name on the memorial was a nice gesture, especially since he didn't know Hawke as well or as long as the others.

...It's that sweetness, however, that makes it hard for me to pursue a rivalry. Aside from whichever choice for him, prince or priest, is right...it's hard for me to push a character I've come to like so much. I suppose it's like Alistair having to "steal" himself, as Leliana put it...might not be what we want or like, but it might be for the best. That being said, I'm still neutral on the whole thing.

I actually remember laughing when Alistair snapped at me, having made him king and Loghain a Grey Warden. My Warden was SUCH a bad friend. I even laugh a bit rival...ing...Isabela and Merrill. Somehow I doubt I'll get that twisted satisfaction from Sebastian...from what I've learned, he's pretty respectful no matter how you treat him...which makes it worse, in a way.

I was wondering if "naive" was the correct word, because...he's around 30, is he not? But then it dawned on me that he's gone from one extreme to another. At one point in the docks, he says something like, "I never knew places like this existed. Thanks for that." So while he's not exactly a schoolboy, there's a lot he doesn't know about...a lot that Hawke could show him. Maybe someday...

That being said, I've noticed some people seem to like the idea of him...reverting to his old ways. I'd prefer a new stage come through. Someone who's gotten the crazy out of him, learned from both the lusty prince phase and the sheltered priest one, and ready to...be serious.

Agreed. From the very beginning, I can only assume that a lot of Sebastian's allure for me, personally, is that I truly believe that Reformed bad boys make the best husbands. I like that he used to be naughty. But I also really appreciate that he's grown out of that, and isn't like that any more. Do I see him as a Brother? Eh... no. But he can decide he wants to be Prince without being completely debauched.

That's a good way of putting it. Silly as this may sound, and even knowing there was not much a romance to be had, the fact that you could conceivably marry Sebastian had a certain appeal to me. Moreover, he seems to be better...husband material than Anders or Fenris.

Which doesn't do it for everyone or is even necessary for everyone, I understand, but...well, different strokes and such Posted Image

Almost makes me wish there were a third option...forget being a priest or a prince, why can't Sebastian just be a man?

But I guess that would be irresponsible.

I completely agree. I also think he was the most sane and compassionate companion I had. In all honesty, I do

wish there was a bit more interaction romantically with him, but I can't say that I was wholly disappointed by his

character. I also respected him a lot more than the others. All in all I found his story to be very interesting, I never

understood why others said he was a boring character. I was intrigued by the reformed bad boy motif, and I am

very  excited to know his story isn't finished. I always felt he had great potential for an awesome continuation; And
with luck, we will get more romantic options with him in the future. (please Mrs Helper, please) Posted Image Hey a girl can hope can't

she?

Screw Sebastian. He was all talk and no action, unless Hawke was backing him. You want to avenge your family, go avenge them. You want to take back your kingdom, go take it. Don't talk about it, be about it. And the threats against Hawke if you let Anders live are laughable. Actually, after numerous dragons, elven creations, the Arishok, and countless other baddies hanging above his mantle, any threats against Hawke are pretty laughable.

This. This this this. I'm having a hard time not mashing the keyboard with excitement due to how much I agree with this. He's seen how low he can get, and he's also seen how disgusted with himself he can get. He knows he can be a better man, and Hawke seems to be the woman to inspire that in him. This is what I want to see more of if/when we get more Sebastian DLC.

I want to see him coming to the realization that he can be a man of great faith, a prince, and a husband all rolled into one, and he doesn't have to choose between the three like he thinks he does. Moderation in all things, and he could turn out to be a spectacular man and a very satisfying romance for those of us who take the time and effort to help him work through this. Patience is a virtue I hold in higher regard than chastity anyway. ^_^

... I have to wonder why you thought the Sebastian support group was the best place to post this.

I don't disagree with you, actually, about Sebastian being indecisive. However, I think that's one of the things that makes him interesting. He's being pulled in two directions and needs Hawke's influence to push him one way or another. What's more, Hawke refusing to kill Anders could just be the thing that finally forces his hand, and it's something I'd really like to see followed up on in future content. Maybe this is the impetus he needs to go raise that army.

Or, maybe he's just going to post a bounty notice for Hawke and Anders on the first un-exploded Chanter's Board he sees :).

We're still working on that. Maybe when some DLC comes out. Until then, fanfics and fanart will suffice.

I've been wondering WHY Seb seems to see such a conflict--apart from the obvious mechanical reason of the game's friendship/rivalry system, that is.  And it seems to be that he really does feel, even if you rivalry him, that it's difficult to remain a good-hearted person of faith if you get yourself embroiled in the "viper's nest" of politics.  He's not wrong there--I can maybe count on one hand the number of people in Thedas who are both decent folks and effective leaders, outside the potential PC characters.  Power corrupts, and it's understandable that Seb doesn't want to be corrupted.

I suppose you could always point to his grandfather as an example of having your cake and eating it too, though.

Which is why I pointed out that it's subjective.  No need to be defensive.  I didn't criticize you, and I didn't say I didn't like the character (please don't project that onto me).  I just don't agree with your opinion about him--that's not same thing as bashing him, or you.

I am disappoint(ed).

I've reached Act 3 with my rival-manced Sebastian. And now I wish I'd played as a rogue (I have a terrible time not being a mage - I can't have my Dragon Age universe exist without an alive Carver). Anyway, while I find I like this more agressive Sebastian, his opinion of mages is just... "If every mage in Kirkawall is locked safely in the circle. Or dead." Why did the Prince/rivalry path have to lead me to the "support the templar" path? :( I've been exploring every little bit of dialog with him and I just... eck. I'm not sure that I like it. Although, I will admit to loving "I'll offer you nothing less than a Prince" above and beyond the weirdness that was the chaste marriage proposal.

Eh. If only I still made YouTube vids, I'd show you all what I was talking about.

I haven't rivaled him - I hate being mean to him, and we always agree on everything. He's such a sweetie when you are his friend, I don't think I'll ever do the rivalry. I don't want to see him as douchy McDouchbag.

Really? You agree on everything? Off the top of my head: I lose points with him when I give Merrill the elven artifact. He doesn't like when I tell Ella to run free after 'Dissent' and he practically pitches a fit when you agree to go into the Fade for 'Night Terrors'. I love Sebastian. But we don't agree on everything. This is the 1st time I've rivaled him: he's actually pretty easy to gain favor with, especially if you're nice to people. But I wanted to see. It's just very hard to stomach his hightened distrust of mages when I am one.

Oh, I agreed with him on almost everything.. =P

the "Almost" being the circle and the way mages should be handled... but in the end... I managed to get full friendship with him..
Because I never supported blood mages, I didn't want to help merrill with her creepy mirror and her demon summoning... D: So.. yeah.. I agreed with him on everything except the circle, in which I was about as outspoken in freeing the mages as Anders was...

Just.... -____-# didn't agree with Anders on blowing up the chantry.. AT.ALL. Sheesh, Anders, ever heard of peace talks? No, that part of anders was justice.. so.. NO MORE LYRIUM RINGS FOR YOU JUSTICE!

But despite it, me trying to goad him to taking back his land, (which causes rivalry) and freeing the mages left an right, I still managed to get his full friendship... and he appeared on my abilities list O_O when on that playthrough Anders was my LI at that game!

I got the damage resistance bonus, YES! Though.. I wish he wouldn't die so much...Anders could take more hits then he could.

As long as your nice to him and other people, he'll like you! And.. I just happened to like the grand cleric.. XD; add it to the list on how we're birds of a feather! I also support the chantry, just in secular terms and totally hands off from keeping the mages in the tower.. >8U MAGES DESERVE TO BE FREE DAMMIT!!!

And in the end, you convince him to side with the mages.. ;D and he becomes more reasonable to the mages' cause!
