I have the feeling that if Sebastian doesn't have Hawke's initial help with retaking Starkhaven, he'd have had to grow up a lot faster than what happens if he does pal around with Hawke.

Ah well, if we get any idea that there will be more DLC involving Sebastian, then I'll be all over it.

Still kinda irked that they won't confirm or deny it though. It's psychological BS. : /

Oh hey top of page again... uhhh... quick!  More Adventures in Modding!

Sebastian initially was hard to rival because he was in the same boat as Fenris: small acts of kindness would tip him back the other way. But then I learned which quests not to bring him on, and it works out well.

I've never tried rivaling Isabela. I should, one of these times. It's a lot harder when you're a snarker, or diplomatic. Though when you're aggressive Varric's rivalry is pretty easy to get. It's funny.

At first, I wanted to be everyone's friend, but now...it's just funny to rival, often rewarding too. I don't think everyone should be all friends or rivals, and I struggle with Sebastian. But really, aside from Varric and Aveline...everyone is fair game. Oh, you want this Arulin'Holm? Want me to distract the Grand Cleric while you do "something"? Stay in the Chantry forever? Exchange incriminating evidence for a ship? LOL Nope!

I especially love to rival Isabela. It's nothing against her (though I can't say I'm her biggest fan either), but I find it endlessly amusing the my first Hawke's thankless do-gooding apparently annoyed the pirate to no end. If you're having trouble, situations that involve giving money away help, like offering to pay the miners more or hiring Orana as a servant.

...And this makes me realize that if Sebastian were around in the first act, rivaling him would have been that much harder. The...method I ended up taking was being harsher on him and on the mage issue. My Hawke reacted very badly to losing her mother and figured stricter ways should be considered. Since I sided with the templars, it was...eerie to see the paralells between Hawke and Meredith.

Another way of going about it is a form of...vigilante justice. Recklessness, vengefulness. Killing people who arguably deserve it (Jarvias, Bartrand) won't make the lawful prince happy. There's also being too leniant with friends, such as letting Isabela take the Tome and Varric keep the idol.

By the way, I don't know if anyone's here is on tumblr, but I feel you all should be aware of this: askchoirboy.tumblr.com/

Oh man. If Sebastian doesn't get the
closure of avenging his family's deaths, and then he has to see his only

I imagine that would be a very bitter, angry Sebastian.

And people wonder why he can't relax when that happens <_<

I am fearful of where his personality could go, though. It's been suggested he's a few bad days away from becoming something...darker.

Vigilante justice you say?  Hey Garrus, I need to borrow you for an AU... no no, it'll just be a bit... (hehe, kidding.)

I'm ok with him going a bit darker... BUT.  (Big BUT here)  As long as there is some redemption to be had.  That Hawke can give.  Which would be fantastic.  But having him go out like a Roman Candle and Hawke not having a say in it? D:
DO NOT WANT.

Is it odd that, when first speaking with Sebastian privately and seeing "Follow your heart" as a dialogue option, my mind went to when Shepard speaks with Garrus after sparing Sidonis? Most people compare Garrus to Anders due to the whole "renegade" thing, but maybe they're not so different.

I hope whoever's making it throws in a Lady Hawke once or twice. Isabela shouldn't get all the fun I think she's had a little too much fun as it is.

Yeah, it makes sense for him to...shed some of that pure light after being back in the real world for a while. Still, I don't want him to completely forget what he learned in the Chantry. I've said it before, but the last thing I want him to do is revert. Rather, all those experiences should become something grater than the sum of their parts.

Beth, honey, you know I love you, but you need to keep your hands where big sister can see them. For Maker's sake, you wouldn't even know what to do with him.

Having played Legacy myself and seeing other clips...kind of making me wish I romanced him as a mage. The "chaste marriage" talk with Carver was so adorable. Seb's all, "Brothers!~" and Carver is like "Who are you again?"

Still, I originally imagined, if they ever met...Bethany would be wary of Sebastian, considering he's part of the Chantry, and he and Carver would be friends since they approved of similar actions of Hawke.

...Kind of wish I was right, but...it's too soon to say.

No problem!

There's a Carver one, too... askmeaboutmypeaches.tumblr.com/

Also, to keep it relevant, I am amused that there is both an "eff yeah Sebatian" and a "f*ck yeah Sebastian". Both are quite pleasing.

I think the worst possible thing that could happen to the Sebastian character, is for you to have rivalled him, then not killed Anders. In that scenario he loses everything, including friends. I really wouldn't like the potential for reversion to old Sebastian plus vengeance central. A few days or choices away from him being really Dark Side.

As said before, I would have liked some other endgame choices, but sadly they weren't there.

I like how Sebastian changes over the storyline both ways, but there is a great potential there for dark things. Read some of Avelines dialogue with him. She can see it too in rivalled Sebastian.

See why I friendmance?

I had a good amount of dialogue with Sebastian when I friendmanced, and took Fenris, Grey warden Bethany, Sebastian and Hawke on Legacy. Less dialogue when friendmanced, and party was Varric, Aveline, Sebastian and Hawke. I think they have a priority screen play, where if X is in party it overrides the LI.
Next time I'm thinking Isabela in the party for giggles.

There is no cutscene with Sebastian at the end of Legacy before you speak to your mother. Its Gamlen or sibling. The troll lied.

As a word of warning, John took Merrill on Legacy, and she did the strange glowy eye thing at the end. Remember that Corypheus can control darkspawn, wardens and bloodmages.
Also he isn't dead, and it doesn't matter which side you take, one of them leaves possessed. So for future gameplay sanity, unless you want Merrill batting for the bad guys, leave her at home. John had  rivalled Merrill sworn off of bloodmagic, and she still had that moment.

Sebastian doesn't say anything to Zevran.Though I don't know whether or not if it kills the romance if you take Zev up on his offer.

When my Hawke is friendmanced to Sebastian, Zevran doesn't offer. This quest normally happens after I've accepted Sebastians proposal at the beginning of Act 3. So it could be themed for if X then Y.

Has anyone else noticed the lightning strike moment. When you just know that Seb and your Hawke are possible LI even before you get to speak to him?

This moment, when Hawke and Sebastian can't drag their eyes from each other, and end up doing the 90 degree head follow, and Isabela has to jump out of the way.

Posted Image

Isabela: He's hot!
Bethany: Wow...
Hawke: (Too busy being caught up in those eyes, and the accent to say anything.)
Varric: (Mentally writing friendfiction based on a Prince and his friend Hawke.)

I think this is the real reason why Varric never gives you the speech, you know, the are you sure about him Hawke speech. Varric is essentially a romantic at heart, well a romantic who also writes porn in his fiction. Most of the Kkmeme relate to this...

SIGH.

Although I still feel like rivaling Sebastian was right for that particular Hawke, it does bug me that I "chose wrong" if I wanted any content for a character by playing a certain way.  It also feels like you're supposed to take Varric, Anders, and your sibling with you in Legacy for the most dialogue.  I'll have to do that next time, but bleh...

Teen Zombie:

I think that Anders and Sebastian have been made interchangeable for playthrough after endgame. Both give similar information on the same subject - the Golden City.
Fenris also chips in with information about Tevinter Magisters. Varric seems to be best in the early part of the game with the Carta dwarves, maybe we are meant to change the party at the half way horn?

I must experiment. For Anders to be in my party with romanced Sebastian, that would have to be during DA2, sadly without the romance completion flags. So Sebastians dialogue might be limited. Grrr.

I'm hoping that there is no such thing as wrong Sebastian choice, just two different romance styles. Friendmanced wants you at his side as soon as possible, and Rivalled wants you both to be secure on your repective thrones first. Fingers and toes crossed that every SSG member gets her Prince!

Fancy a mini MEME?

Party banter or serious discussion over a pint. Maximum...say 20 lines.
Who warns or encourages Hawke about Sebastian? Alternatively, who warns or encourages Sebastian?

Avelines hen night.

Aveline: So Hawke, are you going to kiss Sebastian?
Hawke: I beg your pardon!
Aveline: Tomorrow, at the wedding. You know that the brides maiden has to kiss a man of her choice to ensure the fertility of the married couple. It is a...tradition.
Isabela: Here wait a minute, Hawke's not a vir...and I thought that you creaked!
Merrill: Can we do it too?
Hawke: I don't think that he'd appreciate it Merrill. Besides last time we talked he made it quite clear...
Merrill: Not him silly, Varric likes kissing games, and I'm sure that Fenris would be happy to kiss Isabela, they so often do.
Aveline: Do I really want to know? He is... a good man Hawke.
Isabela: Snort...you mean apart from the vow of chastity thing?
Aveline: It's not the same as celibacy, wh*re!
Isabela: Prude! I can't imagine one man, only one man for the rest of my life, what a nightmare...even one who looks like that.
Pause
Hawke: I can.

I'm with Teen Zombie on this.
I don't like feeling as if I chose wrong.
They gave me enough of that garbage when I had Tabris romance Alistair.  (I'm sorry, mistress ain't going to cut it!  And yes, I know pretty much every permutation on that romance, and no, I don't want Queen Tabris.  Just Al and Tabris, without all the garbage of 'you're doing it wrong!')

Well, that PT is done.  Dead Anders, living Sebastian, Vicountess seat (Maybe?  Who knows how long it takes the Seekers to come to Kirkwall...)
That's something else that irks, how freaking LONG does it take for Cassandra to show up and why is Hawke gone NOW. -.-

Also, the possession was kind of a duh.  I figured it was going to happen no matter what, so the 'choice' seemed kind of.... weak.
Ah well. My biggest disappointment with the DLC has been that it was short.  I was done in 2 and a half hours.  Where's the 'hours of adventure!'
It felt more like Overlord than a Liar of the Shadow Broker to me.... : /
-.-

Where's our Sebastian story continuation DLC?  I'm getting FRIGHTFULLY IMPATIENT.

Tell me about it...I played Amell...and wasn't good enough for King Alistair. Hated Bioware at that point.
Now when I play Origins I let Alistair remain a warden. If you import Warden Alistair he takes the place of Stroud in DA2.

I don't want there to be a wrong way. I want Bioware to give both choices their Sebastian. Rivalling should give you a nice Prince of Starkhaven. If there is any fair play on the agenda. I keep remembering Alistair so deliberately chose Brother Sebastian. Also I am just plain bad at rivalling...canned the game again. I am hopeless!
