He's not the only one who gets knocked for his outlook.  I've read disdainful comments about pretty much all the companions (except maybe Varric).  Also, Leliana was religious and yet she has quite a sizable fanbase.

oh i realize this i just think he gets it the worse. mostly because he has a handful of supporters vs bashers, compared to say izzy. while she has her fair share of bashers she has a lot more people to defend her.

Trust me, I understand how frustrating it can be to support a relatively unpopular character.  However, I think it's irritating when supporters accuse others of disliking Sebastian "just because he's religious."  It's a canard, so please stop.

I am glad Sebastian will make a come back.  As much as I was often wanting to tell him to shove it (especially in that banter with Fenris about the bigger picture of witnessing the death of a boy for blood magic); I loved having him around.  I also enjoyed his reaction in the gallows to the chantry.  He is the only one who points out the obvious and though I told him to take his little butt back to Starkhaven I loved that scence.

It is what it is, why should I cover it up? I never said all of the people that dislike him only disliked him because of that one factor either. Sure some people have other reasons why they don't like him but there's still others who dislike him solely for that fact, just like there's plenty of people that dislike Izzy for being a ****. Sorry, you may not like my opinion but I'm going to express it regardless.

If you look at the Sebastian "hate" thread, most people come right out and say, he's too preachy, they hate the chantry, they hate people trying to convert others, bla bla bla. Not everyone hates him because he's religious, but many do.
Probably a lot also has to do with Anders vs Seb.  Whatever, he floats my boat.

Well, it's possible to be religious without being "preachy." Obviously there's something about his attitude that turns people off, and it probably isn't just "because he's religious." That's what I meant.  If other characters are also preachy in different ways, it can't be argued that they get a free pass for it not being religion-based, because as I said they DO get bashed for it.

Or maybe people hate him because he's not going RAWR! into fights... I mean Sebastian compared to other is pretty much passive in attitude. I hated the Chantry in DA:O .... but Sebastian and Elthina(sp?) made me like it a little more, of course my Hawke likes to compromise and beleive in the maker. But my Cousland while being good would likely have burned the a chantry or two. The problem here is not the Chantry... it's the Templars

This is so nice to hear!

Things, uh, didn't turn out so well for my Hawke and Sebastian since she felt compelled to spare Anders. She still loves him, though, and I hope they can at least have a conversation that doesn't involve anyone threatening to kill anyone some day. Even apart from that, I want to know how things go for him in the future.

Sebastian is a very attractive guy, despite the fact that he is the only character in the DLC. He is one of my favorite. Good to know that his story is not over yet ...Thank you, writer.

I'm excited to know his story's not finished. I actually liked his character more than I thought I would (usually not a fan of overtly religious characters, but his faith was very personal and he wasn't pushy about it or overly preachy the way Leliana could get at times). In my canon playthrough, I brought Seb around quite a bit while I was in a romance with Anders. He was at full friendship, so when he left at the end because I spared my LI, it was a powerful moment. Especially with the excellently delivered "precious Anders" line and his gut-wrenching reaction to the Grand Cleric's death. His VA did a great job, IMO. I think the idea of him swearing vengeance on one of his closest friends has quite a bit of drama to it.
