However unlikely to happen for me, I really dislike her too much. She even set up that poison in Lowtown during Blackpowder Courtesy, and has little regard for anything but her own agenda. Am I the only one who caught the elfs comment on that? I think Elthina put it best, using religion to ferment unrest and murder is diminishing the Maker.

She ranks my number 2 most hated person in the game. JAnders, Petrice and Meredith... they must be well written, they all press that 'red button' for me.

Ugh, yeah, I forgot about that too.  Petrice is way too eager to sacrifice innocent victims in order to further her cause.  If she were less cartoonishly evil, I would have been more willing to work with her.

And speaking of the "red button", I've been wondering lately, if Sebastian didn't have the "kill Anders or I leave" ultimatum, but rather just would fight against a Hawke who sided with mages if he wasn't properly maxed in friendship or rivalry, like Fenris, would people who don't like him be less annoyed by him?

I can't speak for all pro-mage, anti-chantry or whatever we are called, but his ulitmatum at the Anders situation is something I respect him for. I understand that his mother figure just got blown up and that he is upset. Threathning to raze down Kirkwall is a bit dramatic, but I am not really taking him serious, and I don't want another Fenris situation - that would be boring. So I just say farewell to Sebastian at that point.

It just seems to me that Petrice does suck, but the qunari seem worse.

Also, I would marginally prefer a more Fenrisesque situation with Sebastian. It'd make that one choice less annoying, anyway.

Really? Petrice is purposely starting a war over religion. The Qunari just want to get their book and go home.

So does the Chantry. They're just less honest about it. You may not agree with the Qunari philosophy, but by and large they are far more honourable and honest about their intent. The only time they hide something is when the arishok neglects to mention exactly what they're looking for in kirkwall, which is sensible military strategy more than anything as anyone who had connections with to Tevinter (of which there seems to be an abundance) would try and grab the book and use it to strike a devastating blow against Qunari morale. Which is exactly what happens.

Petrice is far weaker than the Arishok, and I do plenty to weaken the Chantry by striking against the templars. In any case, I may need allies in the Chantry for the future.

Petrice seems perfectly willing to kill Hawke, any humans who join her cause, and any random innocents who get in her way. The Arishok isn't interested in "conquering" Kirkwall until he's pushed too far, and even then, he considers it doing everyone a favor by making them submit to the Qun, and there would have been minimal bloodshed if people had just gone with it.

I'm not saying I'm pro-qunari, but the Arishok is far more straight forward, and almost noble in his intentions. I wouldn't be surprised if Petrice was only interested in impressing the Divine and advancing in the Chantry by stirring up anti-qunari sentiment.

And back to Sebastian, I do like that he says no to continuing to work with Anders after the explosion. But I wonder how many people let him leave because they need Anders as a healer in the endgame, and how many just don't like him because they consider him threatening when he makes his ultimatum.

I think the odds of him actually carrying out his threat are low, but I do find it somewhat irritating that I can do nothing to try to persuade him to stay, and just have to pretty much tell him to go away.

Hot rumour today from Gamescon in Cologne courtesy of artsangel:

So I was looking at David Gaider's T-Shirt on the Comic-Con Writer Q&A, and saw it contained an unfinished hangman game that appeared to be teasing an upcoming Dragon Age 2 thing.

The letters were:

_ _ _ _ _ _ D
_ _ R _ _

With N, O, Y, P crossed out as being wrong letters.

EXALTED MARCH fits inside the spaces, and could tease... an expansion maybe?

--------------------end rumour.

Fingers crossed!

How cool! That might fit with an inquisition-like follow up, suggested by the strategy guide epilogue. Thanks for sharing!

Sebastian, Cullen, Cassandra and Leliana could all have major roles in whatever this is.  If it exists.  :o

I'm crossing my fingers too.

EDIT:  Nevermind.  They announced a new item pack coming soon.  A new story based DLC is coming down the road.

Oh well.

Maybe they're just annoyed that since Sebastian leaves, but isn't killable, it's some sort of fancy plot armor that insinuates he's going to play a role later on, whereas all the other characters except Varric can be killed/shipped off.

I hope there's info on new DLC tomorrow at the Gamescom press conference. Or even better, an expansion.

That info about Petrice is interesting, but no matter how I roleplay, all my Hawkes agree that she goes down.

Why so?

Mine winds up siding with her. She's unscrupulous and murderous, but the qunari are worse, and my Hawke was really freaked out about the Saarebas thing, and thought a bit too much about that happening to Bethany if the qunari won...

So your Hawke saw Bethany taken to the Circle of Kirkwall? I could never immerse myself in the story by letting the templars to take Bethany away, especially after "Tranquility." And I probably would have killed Petrice as soon as "Sheparding Wolves" if given the chance; the Qunari are certainly a threat, but so was Petrice and her fanatics.

Interesting, I thought they didn't have any plans on doing an expansion. I certainly can't imagine serious addressing an Exalted March as a DLC, after all. I wonder what kind of story it'll be...

An Exalted March sounds more like a feature of the next game....

I just want some Starkhaven/Free Marches love here. Varric says all the Circles are DONE at the end of the game. They're all broken. Whatever story DLC is slated to come down the line... I'm seriously hoping it gives the Sebastian 'mancers some closure on the guy.

Woooooo, I tweeted a question to the live feed that's going on right now, asking if we were going to see more of the Free Marches, like Starkhaven and Tantervale. (subtly trying to see if we're going to see Starkhaven DLC).

My question actually got asked~! *squee* Fernando Melo said it was a really good question and I must be a hardcore fan (if he only knew...), and wondered how he could be vague about the answer, but then basically stated "Yes, you will."

Hey Chylise, yea I had a similar question. I think is was will we be seeing DA2 DLC featuring Starkhaven or the rest of the Free Marches, so I'm glad that got answered... some what.

Arg. Hate that he has to be vague though. And really hate this whole item pack DLC crap.
Do not need the item packs, just want story. -.-

Will they be putting up the Q&A for later review? I just caught the tail end of it.

So far I've only had interest in Rivalmancing him.
I'm not one for the whole chaste marriage under the eyes of the Maker mostly because I don't have any Hawke's who are hard line Chantry supporters.

I'm usually not one for the 'OMG PRIIIIIIIIINCE' either, but I see it less like the whole 'oh dreamy prince' like Al's romance was made out to be (for all the Couslands -.-) and more along the lines of, he's got a job to do, then he can damn well do it.

So I rival him into taking responsibilty or action to take back his birthright.  The Hawke that's romancing him drives him to that because she figures if she can do it, so can he.  Sebastian just needs some more prodding.

Good. As long as it is the next one coming and it is good, they can have a few weeks...ROFL.

Sounds more expansion than DLC, something that fits in after act 3 maybe, and before the seekers arrive a couple of years later.

Back to playthrough 13...and new Nathaniel armour for screenshots...I managed to max out Sebastian mid act 2, hehehehee.

I think that the vast majority wish to become Princess of Starkhaven , so play for the safe option on that one...Rivalled.
Some of us like the friendmance true love angle. (ok, I suck at rivalling Sebastian, just as badly as I hated hardening Alistair)

Go with the play that fits you personally.

I get that they have to be vague, so they don't give away too much. I was just giddy that my question was asked, and that it was answered, in a way.

He also said that they're not making as much story DLC for DA2 that they did from DAO, because a lot of fans found the DAO DLC to be subpar (I agree, sadly), so they're going to spend more time on the DLC, but that means there's going to be less story DLC. Quality over quantity, most likely.

They didn't say if they'll put the Q&A up in the video library or not. I hope they do.

Well, ok, that kind of worries me.
So does that mean we're only getting maybe one or two more story DLCs?

When you think of the story DLC for Origins they had:

Golems
Darkspawn
Witch Hunt
Leilianna

Warden Tower(base, whatever it was I can't remember off the top of my head) but this came with the CE.
Shale counts as story but she's like Sebastian, she's character DLC.

So... we've gotten Legacy... does this mean we only get one more story DLC?
-.-
Are they not going to go the expansion route?  Just make the story DLC into something ala Awakening?
Arg... just let us finish our Sebastian story before you start rolling in the DA3 stuff...

I'm glad that all we've gotten wind of the DA3 stuff is that... it'll happen.  But this lack of solid details for DA2 story is going to drive me away from the games again.  I'm already boycotting ME until like... January.  (Hell I still haven't even done Arrival yet.)

(Also, I'm probably missing some DLC up there, so feel free to add what I missed.)

Eh, personally don't care about becoming Princess, and I don't even care for the idea of becoming Viscountess of Kirkwall at the end of the game...politics and bureaucracy, yuck.  I just can't see my sarcastic-yet-practical rogue telling Sebastian to renew his vows to the Chantry.  Kyla Hawke was raised in a household where magic was part of her everyday life and the Chantry was feared.  So, while she can respect other's belief in the Maker, she does not see the Chantry as doing a particularly good job ruling mages, and doesn't see a point in being bound to it.

It might not be the best advice for Sebastian, and she might not end up being with him in the end because of it, but it's much more in character with how I play her, to rival him.
