I'm writing a fanfic about Nathaniel. I listen to game soundtrack and British and Irish folk music to get into the period.

Today is apparently National Waffle Day.
This seems like the place to share that information.

Okay, I'm actually going to embarrass myself and ask - where did the waffle thing come from?! I've seen it referenced a few times, but I seem to have the missed the origins...

Nice, is it on fanfiction.net?
I use folk music or ballads for the quieter scenes, and metal/rock/gothic for fight scenes.

Okay, this is my first playthrough romancing Sebastian and I heard something that I hope one of you can help me with. He seems awfully sweet and nice and I understand the chaste thing before marriage, but does he intend to stay chaste after the marriage?
Ohhhhhh. You have to take vows for the friendmance? I should have researched this further....Chylise wrote...
That's actually a source of debate we have once in a while. Some of us think that chaste marriage means no sex ever, since Hawke and Sebastian would be Chantry brother and sister who take vows. Others of us think that he's just proposing no sex until marriage.
So, until we're told otherwise from the devs or future content, it's really however you want to interpret it.

I don't even know what "chaste marriage in the eyes of the Maker" is. I mean, I know the words, but I don't know how they fit together to mean something. Now I see what the debate is.Chylise wrote...
Yeah, he asks Hawke to join him in the Chantry as a sister of faith, saying that they'll have a chaste marriage in the eyes of the Maker.
Now whether Hawke actually takes vows or not isn't known, as in Legacy the marriage is acknowledged, but it never states that they went to another Chantry and took chastity vows.

I'm fine with RP'ing an Andrastian, but if you're going to look at it from a religious standpoint the concept of marriage was created for procreation and reducing temptation, which means sex. I don't understand the point of a sexless marriage. At that point you're just really good friends. And I don't think Sebastian needs to atone for past sins by abstaining from sex with someone he loves.john-in-france wrote...
We have asked for clarity on the vows, but no joy so far, since Ms Hepler seems to have confused a vow of chastity (no sex outside of marriage) with one of celibacy (no sex at all) in her short story vs game.
Sadly Bioware seem to be drifting from their own plotline on this one. In DAO Leliana does state that brothers and sisters of the faith can sleep with one whom they love.
It really comes down to if your Hawke RPG is an Andrastean or not. I RPG a Seeker Hawke investigating Meredith, who obviously has no problem with Chantry vows. Besides I prefer friendmanced Sebastian, rivalling him makes my Hawke feel bad...
My Hawke might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but she's nothing if not strong-willed. :innocent:rak72 wrote...
I think there will be nookie after the chantry blows ... if Hawk wills it.
