Man I don't know why Sebastian does this chaste marriage? I mean I have (cause I was troubled by the chaste) what the chantry says to marriage. Funny is that all brothers and sisters can have sex (a lot) but have to marry the maker and thats the only marriage allowed. the other (who marry) have to wait till marriage and then they can procreate like bunnies....

So why is Sebastian giving us a chaste marriage? it should mean that he marries Hawke later and then they go like rampant bunnies...?

=( I am grateful for the statement that Sebastians story isn't over (so rampant bunny in the addon pls. would pay up to 15 € just to SEE that and a good story as well )

Still I am left hanging with wondering, is Sebastian so OOC that they forgot the chantrys rules or is there a hint in there?

I have tried 5 times to get the rivalry romance with this man. I do absolutely everything that I've been told to make it work. I get to the final stand against Meredith and all I get out of the bastard prince is, "You're an amazing woman. If we had met in another time...." I know there's no kissing or even a hug or anything from him. He never touches you, I realize, but I never get the achievement for completing a romance. He is the ONLY romance I even want to try!! Five playthroughs and... I'm not sure if I want to bash his pretty face in or just sit and cry for a while.

Read my post again and you'll see I did research him. I already said that I know he's not the same as the other romances. I watched vids on youtube, read things on gamefaqs, read things here on Bioware, and even had my husband researching it too. No one mentioned he wouldn't get me those achievements so I thought I was doing it wrong somehow.

But believe me, I understand the reasons why people chase after him despite getting little out of it. I mean.... just look at him! Watching him, listening to him, talking to him... He's so much more compelling and interesting. Plus, he has so much more in common with Hawke than the other characters. Especially if on your first playthrough you not only got Carver killed, but took Bethany into the Deep Roads without Anders around to help.  Your whole family has been slaughtered. Who else would understand that better than Sebastian? (which makes the lack of a comfort scene even more insulting)

PS- This thread is over 90 pages long and I joined the forum a week ago. Wasn't going to go reading this entire thing after having already read so much other information on him previously.

Also, I have to agree with Kate; thankfully, his story is not over.

I'm trying to follow it just so now! Everything is going to be perfect this time! Well...as perfect as it can be in a world where a Hawke can't just grab him by the collar and just...ah well.

And while whether his story will be continued or not remains to be seen, it most certainly lacks a conclusion. The other cast members...most, if all of their own stories could be extended upon, but wrap up nicely all the same. Sebastian's struggle with what to do--stay in the Chantry or take back Starkhaven--was absorbed by the mage tension in Kirkwall. 

It's all the more strange since previous DLC characters also had their personal stories concluded within the game. Their single bit of content had a beginning, middle and end. Shale learns where she came from, goes
off to find a way to reverse it, perhaps suceeds (if the Warden sacificed him/herself). Zaeed either gets his revenge or moves on. Kasumi either clings to what little she has of her man and presumably
goes off the grid to keep it or she leaves the past behind....putting it lightly, I realize, but the fact it there was an end to it.

I meant no harm...and believe me, I was distraught upon learning this, especially since I was already bracing myself for the worst. I think I found out while researching the bit about any sort of flirting would repel him...still not sure if that's true.

But yeah, I still did it. He's sweet, he's handsome, not ashamed of his beliefs, his voice is audible sex, and if his eyes were crossbows we'd all be dead. I apologize for nothing.

Although I knew that Sebastian's rivalry path goes nowhere romance-wise, and I saw the YouTube video of his dialogue during the endgame, and I saw David Gaider's post saying that he is not a romance option...I still had to devote a character to singlehood for him. He's complex, has the whole paladin thing going on, and his story isn't finished. Knowing that we *might* get more Sebastian in DLC is enticement enough for me. I will probably be disappointed, but there's at least hope right now.

HA!  I honestly don't know about that. When I romanced Fenris, then flirted with Sebastian in his Act III QB, he said "You're destined for other things, I will always be your friend", and with an Andersmance he warned Hawke about not being able to trust Anders. I've never tried with a Merrillmance or Belamance. But yes, the line "I offer you no less than a Prince" is part of his Rivalmance.

Haha, I wondered whether I was the only one to make this connection... where I live, we have statues of this saint in many churches, and whenever I come across one, I start wondering. But to be honest, I think it's pure coincidence... Sebastian is a beautiful name, after all.

I confess, I didn't make the connection until I read about Saint Sebastian on Wikipedia.

In any case, a saintly archer sharing the same name as a saint who was nearly killed by archers?  It could be a coincidence, or it could be a dark joke on Bioware's part.

There might be some irony intended, although according to Catholic Online, he is the patron saint of archery, as well as athletes and soldiers, since he was a guard before his faith was revealed. Or so the story goes; another website says he survived the arrows for days before being beaten to death. It also means "venerable", so in any case it's an appropriate name. I love that Bioware does that, I've always had a fascination with names.

Ok, now I don't think it's coincidence anymore. I just typed in "saint+archery" and first hit was the wikipedia entry for Saint Sebastian. It seems like it's not that much of a long shot to make that connection, really I don't even think it's irony then, but appreciation for the character; Sebastian is, after all, a very dedicated brother (if only he wasn't so torn over his loyalties and worldly duties)

Indeed. I don't think Bioware gives their characters' names just because they like the way it sounds.

Looking at these things, I wonder if pushing him to take back Starhaven goes against his very being. All these factors coming together to make a character that is very devout...Although it could be argued that a Prince could do more for the suffering than an impoverished priest, so long as he never forgets his beliefs and who he used to be. I do hope he'll always be a strong believer, no matter where his future takes him.

On a side note, I just found out there's a band from Glasgow called "Belle and Sebastian". How fun XD

Not all the flirt lines are listed, the "not flirting with anyone ever" romance requirement, his age (a lot of people refer to it regarding his age, which I think the wiki is a good five years off from), plus I think they fixed the "infinite friendship/rivarly points" bug a while ago.

And I only flirt with Zevran to see Hawke's LI's response. Sadly, Sebastian doesn't have one.  He will award you rivalry points if you sleep with Zevran though.

Yeah, the Wiki is a good reference when you're at a loss, but word for word, there will be some mistakes. I even read that the mild "flirting" with Aveline would make the union with Sebastian impossible, so I started over. Bit embarassing, but there were some mistakes I aimed to correct, anyway. When it comes to my righteous sebasexual Hawke, I can be very...fastidious.


I've never been a Zevran fan so I've yet to so much as flirt with him...though the idea of Sebastian getting jealous is oddly appealing. Hpothetically, I'd say he'd choke up a little, not knowing how to handle such a situation. Because who in their right mind would risk losing all that?
