I'll go ahead and agree with that. I also searched every corner of every map, and to later discover that Ambrosia is tied to a quest that I'll probably never do was disappointing. But this game's achievements are based around multiple playthroughs anyway, since many are based on choices you can only make once. Anyway... I'll play it again eventually, but I just don't feel like helping a traitor. So that achievement will probably remain locked for me.
I think you are onto something, an RPG is about choices thats pretty much one of the elements in an RPG and if your choice is not to help the traitor in anyones eyes the choice is not to obviously help her then yes you are locked out of getting that achievemant meaning you are FORCED to choose something you dont want to just to get the achievemant meaning its not an RPG then.
Forcing a choice on someone to get something is not an RPG is about, there should be another way of getting the ambrosia, ive also heard that if you use the black emporium to buy some of the things you missed you are again locked out of the achievemant again something that in my eyes is not right.
For me here is a loophole the term 'Found' again in my own opinion can reach to the fact that I 'Found' the other ingredients at the black emporium and purchased them...

This isn't an RPG because you have to follow a certain path to get an out-of-game achievement?

My complaint is that by giving Isabela to the Arishok, or not doing her personal quest for some other reason, I ended up screwed out of an ingredient that could have given me a free level. Consequences are fine, and I want more choices and consequences if possible. But having an item that has nothing to do with Isabela (level up potion) linked to her loyalty mission is sort of absurd.Volourn wrote...
are people really complaining about having consequences to their chocies in a RPG? wow!
If anything, it should have been loot for killing the High Dragon, or some other optional or hidden boss. Something that you could do regardless of your personal interest in following a specific plotline. If it had been say, "Isabela's Ultimate Daggers," then okay... include them as loot in the quest. What's wrong with that line of thinking?

Having to follow a certain path to get an out of game achievement is not how the game is supposed to be played, the game is supposed to just be played, with complete disregard for trying to get achievements, and any you do get are bonuses. If you are focusing on knocking the achievements over, which is fine, don't complain about having to do things in a particular way.
It's honestly one of the stupidest things i've heard anyone say,

I am missing 1 lyrium which is no biggy but there is only 1 Ambrosia in the entire game?! From what i have read you can only get it during Isabella's quest however I gave her up to the Qunari so there goes my achievement >.< what a load of tripe. Just as bad as get 100% areas uncovered in D1 I was on 98%!!
If you miss that one lyrium, you miss the achievement.
You have to get *all* the available resources. Not just one of each.
Consequences are apparently only allowed when they're consequences the person wants and agrees with.Volourn wrote...

I bought both a spindleweed and a glitterdust from the store. I can't imagine they'd have an achievement that was bound to you having access to the emporium. So I can only guess that the resource was in the store because I'd missed picking it up (and had no chance to go back and find it).

I could be wrong, but it seems that if you miss a resource, the Black Emporium will have it for sale in the crafting items store for a few gold. So if you missed the Ambrosia, check there.

The Black Emporioum, which s/he may or may not have access to, only carries resources you missed during the previous Acts. You can't get the 1-shot-ort-they're-gone resources any other way except by doing those specific quests. Which is such an old, tried an true RPG staple that it never even occured to me that anyone would complain about it. But okay: Yes, OP, you're screwed. Sorry. As incentive for not turning over the "traitor" (who turns around after she's free and clear, btw, specifically to help you) you can (and i did) hit her in the face at the begining of the quest. Since she does pretty much deserve a "friendly" ass-kicking, I usually go down that route. But I have yet to play a Hawke that si in any way okay with handing someone over to religious extremists. Just saying.

Sigh. Isabela's quest/conversations bugged for me during Act II so there's another thing I'll miss out on. I have never encountered as many bugs on a single play-through as I have in Dragon Age II and it's taking the joy out of the game.
Never? You're serious? I encountered at least as many bugs on DA:O's release.

This is good to know. I didn't realize that was an option. Thanks

I wouldn't say it if I weren't. I was lucky to escape some of the DAO bugs but this game feels on par with an MMO in terms of game-breaking bugs.DarkSpiral wrote...

Tough.
And, if this is ane xmaple of 'game breaking bug' you don't even know what that phrase is actually supposed to mean. L0L

Well. Hm. I encountered very few actual game breaking bugs at all. Yes, Merrill's Acts 3 quest is horribly bugged and it aggravtes me to no end, but it doesn't actualy prevent me from doing the quest, so that isn't game-breaking. I've had no CTDs. I have had cutscenes d this wierd slowmo thing, and then 30 seconds later all the spoken dialogue fires off at once, once the cinematic pulls out of whatever went wrong. But I suppose YMMV.
