The game says I fought enemies with higher ratings but NON of them gave me such hard time as any Revenant that I encountered. Why is that? I spent more lyrium and health potions on any Revenant than in entire game (done Redcliff, Circle of Magi, now in the middle of Brecilian Forest)! Tough bastards! My party is about lvl 11 and still its about 10 reloads each time fighting this undead...my party is Alistair, Morri, Leliana.
Alistair is supposed to be a tank. Maxed shield and STR/CON. 4-5 hits from Rev and hes gone :/
My pc is a dual wielding warrior with DEX abouve 40, STR about 20+ and I cant evade/avoid his attacks (but still I manage to do better than Alistair in heavy armour!). With ALL the debuffs on him still his life comes at a helluva slow rate. And I manage...micromanage my team, tactics included (poison, bombs, frost weapons/nature vulnerability and whatnot). Sleep/horror, nightmare, and other high end spells like hexes DO NOT affect the reaver...other undead - sure.
What a headache I tell you. I play on hard, and so far any other battel is from fair to challenging. Even demon bosses went pretty quick compared to any Revenant.
So tell me what are your ways in dealing with this monstrosity, any of you have the same problem?

I agree that the Revenants were challenging on Hard. First and foremost, I found it essential to have a good healer. Also, it's important to keep his aggro on one person, otherwise he will use "Pull", which is pretty devastating. They are pretty weak to direct-damage spells, but like you mentioned, paralysis and status effects do not work on them. I was able to defeat the Revenants with my main (mage), Alastair as a tank, Leliana as an archer, and Wynne as a healer.

I was only able to defeat some of the Revenants in the Brecilian Forest by setting a large number of claw traps (which are precious .. metal shards are hard to come by.)

I go for the twohanded approach, with sunder arms to hamper his CC damage output, then the armour reducing ability (also twohanded) while the three others party-members (same as yours) use their abilites to deal damage. Albeit my characters are a bit higher lvl than yours, so the abilities might not apply to you yet.

Cone of Cold + Healing Spell (Lyrium Potions Included)  + Tank And Spank. The real issue is being able to hold his attention with that specific tank when he has a tendency to knock them down allowing your ally to get a lot more hold upon them.

Also, Since he will more then likely break free of CoC sooner then the regular freeze time there is always the chance that Winter Grasp will work on him. Good Luck!

they are supposed to be the traditional optional uber bosses in the game. they are ment to be challenging. i set my healer to auto heal my tank, have my mage stun/ damage, and my rogue damage via a bow.

Get a good bow for your dual wield warrior, makes for some better tactical options at times. Might want to use wynne instead if your problem is healing.

I had a hard time taking that thing down. Not looking forward to the next one. If I could just figure out how to counter that 'Pull' move...   edit: I'll try the freezing tactic next time, although it seems like the easy way out.

You can't, the best you can do is Indomitable and when he 'does' do it move them away quickly. He won't keep his attention on them with their damage or aggro causing abilities not being used you should be able to have your tank pick up his attention again.

For some reason both Revenants I've fought have done nothing but gone after Wynne.. So basically I just ran her around in circles while everyone else attacked. I have no idea why they've focused on her... Made the fight pretty easy .. took awhile but still pretty easy.

If you don't have a tank that is able to tank it. Then get a few mages and spam Cone of Cold. Even if it do 0 damage he will still be frozen... If you time it correctly he will never be able to move.

Try beating it with 3 melee! Now that's hard! Anyway, the most ideal way of killing a Revenant is 1 tank and any other will be ranged. At level 11 Morrigan won't have much healing spells so i suggest taking Wynne or come back when you have a healer.

Remembered only defeating two (hard). Circle of Magi in one shot with Wynn healing and Sten as tank, all level 11. In Red Cliff castle I was getting my butt kicked over and over, and this was beginning of the game with characters at level 5-6. I must have reloaded like 10 times mainly because there's other baddies to deal with and Wynn hasn't joined my team yet. So instead of taking them all on in one shot, I avoided aggrovating the revenant, placed team on hold and picked off all the henches with a longbow first. After shooting towards the Revenant's direction, he comes running across the courtyard to charge my team, that bought time for some more range damage. And the rest was four on one and a hell of a lot of health poultices.

I eventually beat him with Alistair, 2 rogues and Morrigan. Vulnerability hex (which triggers the pull), then wear him down with ranged fire from all 3 before closing with Alistair and 2 backstabbers.

Random glitch with Wynne...it happens occasionally. Wynne didnt help a bit, I tried. She heals, he deals...but hes better at what hes doing ;) Aggro isnt a problem, but my tank cant take so much punishment. Alistair is deflated in the first round and sent to counting sheeps. Morri does nothing more than cone of cold and naute weakness based attacks. Leliana..and her bow...what a downer, she doesnt seem to have any impact at all :(

I know it supposed to be challenging, but this I expect to be on nightmare difficulty. Seriously a fight that takes up to 15-20 minutes and ends with Revenant peacefully strolling away from my dead body...this is insane :D

Forgot to mention that my weapons are really good right now, main weapon tier 5 with two expert runes fire and frost damage; offhand weapon tier 4 with one journeuman rune. And still all abilities with critical/stun effects are useless.

@ Hangman, you said you already defeated revenants in Red Cliff and Cirlce Magi?  How did you manage that then?

@ FILI

and 2 of them in the Forests. Hard work I tell you. I concentrate on keeping Morri and myself alive. she cones, and hexes, I stab-stab-stab-stab :) The real problem is that the Rev comes with 4-5 skeletons at his disposal. And that is a major pain. They are tough enough to withstain my attacks long enough for the Rev to finish the tank and archer (mostly). I noticed that dual sweep and basic Morri staff attack is dealing most damage to the Rev...that is somewhat strange.

Had it hard with the first revenant. But, as people pointed out, Cone of Cold does wonders against them (as against all other enemies). I have 2 mages in my group, both boast CoC, and with a 10 second cooldown I basically kept the Revvies in lockdown while my entire party was bashing them to bits. Never had to die to a Revenant ever since (killed 6 or 7 total by this point I think).

Brecilian revvies are the hardest because they appear with a whole troop of supporters, including an evil skeleton mage. I found it easier to keep one of my Arcane Warriors freezing/tanking the Rev, while the rest quickly killed the mage and maybe some of the archers (they can be annoying with their paralyzing shots), and then teamed up to finish off the Rev.

But hey, Revs are nothing compared to a True Dragon.

Killed that **** with CoC as well. Is there anything this spell cannot do?

Cone of cold was indeed the key. In redcliff i openend with a fireball on the group, cone of cold, inferno on the archers on the right (they do have an annoying knockback) and mind blast (i think it worked). Tank & spank untill dead, repeat coc if necessary. Not really a problem. Didn't even let in the knights.
