Cheesy? I weep for today's jaded youth.
I agree with many others. It was out-of-place... in many ways.
- An uncharacteristic performance for the way the character acts (and speaks) at other times.
- A long break in any action without any interaction from the player which doesn't happen anywhere else. (It's always either a long action scene, a lull with lots of player responses or a brief lull).
- The cutscene sequence mimicking a children's cartoon.
- The orchestration with no orchestra in a style that is not found elsewhere from NPCs in the game.
- The conversation per se that initiates it doesn't make a lot of sense.
- All-in-all, this seemed more like an exhibit or tryout that was inserted awkwardly into the game/story.

Translation from elven tongue:
Elder your time is come
now I am filled with sorrow
weary eyes need resting
heart has become grey and slow
in waking sleep is freedom
we sing, rejoice
we tell the tales
we laugh and cry
we love one more day

What can I say? Music always grabs my attention more than anything (to the point of distraction sometimes).jynthor wrote...

i think it would have been better if she was carrying a lute. but in reality if she has "music magic" maybe she could magic up some music.
- i was just waiting for spanky ham to come out and slaughter all the cutesy little forest creatures that presented themselves during her song.

However, the scene didn't fit. If I was in charge of that, I would've had her start singing just as she did, but then pan off to an ingame video of various scenes and such. More music video like, to keep it interesting.
Her at the fire the entire time wasn't entirely entertaining.

The song was excellent. It was well written, and not entirely the same as most fantasy based music you've heard. Besides, that IS the style no matter how you swing it. That was the main theme of the game as well.

However, some of the character reactions to the song did make me curious. The most interesting was Sten's reaction where he slowly drooped his head. I did make me ponder what he might be thinking about....sort of a expression of regret.
Overall, I still felt the song was awkardly placed and arbitrary to the story.

I wouldn't mind tweaking the camera direction for that cutscene.... not least because the lip-syncing seems a lot worse than it does during speech.

Well it may be a bit cheesy but I still think it fits just fine and too agree that interpretation followed with 1 instrument or just vocal interpretation would be much better.
Anyway "thumbs up" to devolpers for this. Nice idea
Singer/Songwriter of the songs is Aubrey Ashburn and composer is Inon Zur.
