I've done many playthroughs, once using my DAO:A+ save imports and others using the DAO:A+ save game generator for DA2. This nice lil utility will create a save game as if you played origins, awakening, and all the DLC that can be imported.

First off, the game imports most everything from origins to awakening. This can be verified by using the GFF 4.0 tool to examine your DA2 saves and comapare them to values in worldvault.gda. Now, here's the rub. Da2 doesn't USE all of them. It only uses the saved flags that affect the da2 storyline/universe. All other flags are ignored, BUT they still remain persistant in the DA2 save file (probably for future DLC and/or DA3 (if there is one))

Second, if I am wrong in anything below (or above), please don't flame me. I'm just posted what I've actually experienced in multiple playthroughs with multiple imports. Additions, corrections, etc would be the most helpful because if there IS a bug, that would be the best way to find it. Well that and also verifying your save game flags in DA2 with GFF 4.0.

I can verify many of the import flags that do and don't work (verified through multiple playthroughs, and some via  the runscript scripts):

Origins:
* Anything to do with Alistair IS recognized. That can be seen in his Cameo (or not if he doesn't show). In his cameo, I have seen him mention queen Anora.  If you married him, he talks about the warden being "the old ball and chain". If you asked him to free the circle in Origins, Meredith, ****es him out for doing it. DA2 doesn't care about romancing him. If you married him - that's what affects DA2.

* Zevron - most people won't notice this, but it is there. If you ended Origins romancing Zevron, when you meet him during the Murder of Crows quest, all you can do is flirt with him. If you did NOT romance him, but you ARE romancing Isabella, you can have a 3 way when you meet up. If Z died in origins, this quest never shows.

* Leliana - the game seems to ignore all flags as she is hardcoded into the storyline. This is very noticable as she is hardcoded in the pre rendered movie at the end of the game.

* Morrigan - game seems to ignore anything and everything to do with her. Only Flemmeth mentions her when you free her in ACT I. I have not noticed any dialogue changes.

* Sten, shale, (the dwarf from origins - forgot his name), Wynne, all seem irrelivant in DA2

* Connor - I have not seen him living or dying being a part of da2, I've tried playthroughs with him alive or dead. If there are changes, I have not noticed them.

*Isabella - the game seems hard coded that she slept with Leliana. But if you had 3, or 4 way with her in origins, doesn't seem to impact her in DA2

* Gender and race: your gender is imported as the warden is reffered to by he or she in DA2. Race ive only noticed in the scripts, not the game

* Asked for more land for elves or chancellor for reward: TBH, have not tested this in a playthrough yet.

* Sided with templars vs mages: TBH, have not tested this

* Elves/Werewolves - imported and used. Shown by a quest that pops up on the wounded coast.

* Urn - whether the world knows about it or not, doesn't appear to affect anything in DA2

*Avil of the Void: I have not tested this, but I also don't see it mentioned in game, but the internal DA2 scripts show it being relevant.

* Loghain alive, dead, etc - mentioned only in dialogue in DA2 that I have seen

* Final Denerim battle - seems to only matter if you lived or died.

* Ret to Ostagar - internal game scripts recognize if he was burned, or left for darkspawn or wolves, but I have not actually seen these affect the game

* Wardens keep - internal game scripts verify if Sophia is alive or not and if Avernus is alive or not and doing good or bad research. I have not seen any of this affect the DA2 world. If it has, it's something I've not noticed

Awakening

* Anders - he lives in DA2 no matter what happens to him in awakenings, and the game does little to nothing to explain why (especially if he died in your playthrough)

* Orlesian Warden - if you were one, it's not imported and the game uses default storyline values for Origins.

*Amaranthine/Keep - not noticed at first, but on the 2nd playthrough, I flipped the save flags so the keep was saved and a new quest popped up in Act I, generated by someone's who's pissed off at the wardens for abandoning the city.

* Silverite Ore - I think this is also tied to the above mentioned quest, but I have not tested this further.

* Nathaniel - if he ends up living, he shows up in DA2, if not, he doesn't

* Defended farms vs trade routes, etc - seems to have no effect. The city vs keeps seems to be Da2's biggest concern.

* Architect - dead or alive, I have not seen it affect DA2 at all

Witch Hunt, and other DLC

Most of these are completely ignored in DA2, but the DA2 save file does keep minimal data on them. Basically it keeps if you started and if you finished the major DLCs.

The only major thing done, in the DLCs, that has a MINOR affect on DA2, is if you went through the mirror with Morrigain. If you did, someone at somepoint mentions the warden just "dissappearing" Other than that, witch hunt plays little to no role in Da2 that I can see - the same with all other DLCs (except awakening).

If anyone has anything to add, please do so. Corrections welcome. Other experiences welcome. It would be nice to have a solid list of what is "actually" carried over in the save file (and what isn't) AND what DA2 will use (or not use), but save for future.

***Again, keep in mind, that your imported data IS preserved in the Da2 save file. Unfortunately console people can not verify this, but chances are it's working as intended*

I think the Architect has an effect. I think the game doesn't know if you killed him or not...

I heard Nathaniel talks about the Architect. So there should be an effect, but it seems it isn't working as intended, as well.

Interesting, I expose myself to a lot of spoilers voluntarily just because I want to avoid import bugs.

I stopped playing for now to wait to get things like this fixed. But I still have hope and will wait for the first major patch.

I believe the templar connel? connor? the guy from Ferelden who's tracking down the possessed templars.  He mentions in passing through one of the investigative dialogue options about the circle being annulled.  I imported one where I sided with Templars in origins.

I didn't go through the mirror with Morrigan, let her go.  If you are talking about Nightingale mentioning it at the end, then she said the warden did disappear.  If it's another point in DA2, then ignore what I had said.

... Also, i beleive I have read glitches regarding Zevran appearing and offering the quest even if killed in Origins.  I've never killed the poor guy in any of my saves, so I can't verify.

I found a dead messenger somewhere down by the Docks or in Lowtown. He had some Warden message and a Elixir called 'Avernus' Elixir' or something. Which gave me +2 attribute points. This was when I spared him and let him continue his research without sacrificing people and all that (The nice option). And the message I found I left in some dead drop location which I got money for later on by a message that was sent to my house.

I'll point something out about Isabela: my Warden romanced and married Alistair, becoming queen to his king. They also had a threesome with Isabela. During the Alistair cameo, with Isabela in party, she references that.

She also does not reference having slept with Leliana upon meeting her. So no, I don't believe that is hard-coded.
