Morrigan recrated a whole one from a peice it was obvious Merrils was broken have you seen it in the video why would she need a cutting tool when it would be more like growing a new mirrorAustinKain wrote...
If you pay closer attention neither morrigan nor merrill say they took ALL the pieces of the mirror, as only a fragment was need for morrigan to recreate hers.

We really have no idea how many of these there were to begin with, but if it's true that the elves had at least one in each of their cities when they controlled a worldwide empire then there could be hundreds, and at least some others must be unbroken.

Yes but Merill says this mirrior was coruptted so how did she get it did the keeper let her order it and have it shiped to hergreyman33 wrote...
Yeah, from what I can remember of Witch Hunt (it's been a while), Morrigan was using a piece of the broken Dalish mirror to track down the location of an unbroken, untainted mirror she could use to go... wherever it was she went.

My understanding, and I may be mistaken and need to go reread a few codex entries, was that the corrupted Origins mirror Merril has was carried with her tribe from just outside the Wilds in Fereldon as any of their other heirlooms would have been, but more than just maintaining their history, this one was to be kept for everyone's safety due to its corruption. They had enough carts to bring it along with everything else. So Merril wouldn't have had to get it shipped all the way from Fereldon, just from Sundermount. After Merril made her pact with demons the corruption was cleansed, maybe it was considered 'safe' for her to take it for further study (probably using the same right she invoked to try to get teh tools to fix the mirror).
Yeah, there are plot holes in there, I admit, but it's what I could stitch together for mayself that made at least some kind of sense. If nothing else (meaning why they'd have just let Merril up and take the mirror to her house in the city), I figure it would make sense that the elves wouldn't have just left a corrupted ancient artifact of potentially huge power sitting in the woods for darkspawn of whoever else when they packed up and moved a thousand some-odd miles away.

a fragment of A broken mirror is.. might even be the same one but the elf takess it, (Morrigan is finished with it) which places it fine and danady for DA2 time line.

it just makes me wonder as the Events of witch hunt had to happen well after a yearLadyJaneGrey wrote...
I thought Merrill said she had cleansed a shard of the mirror, not that she hauled the whole thing off with her. Maybe she took a piece of the shattered mirror, mounted it in a different frame, and repaired it from there? The frames in both games look different (though, to be fair, so does Merrill herself.)

Witch Hunt allowed the Hero of Ferelden to go back to the same temple from the Dalish Origin to get a piece of the shard for Finn, so he could perform a ritual to find the other Eluvian that Morrigan activated (that ended up being in the Dragonbone Wastes).

It's possible she had a small piece of the shard with her initially, and ended up getting the other pieces in the interm between Acts I and II once she discovered how to cleanse the taint from the mirror with blood magic (since some time passes and Hawke does end up getting wealthy enough to arrange for this transportation).

Perhaps putting that shard in a frame and surrounding it with shards from a normal mirror, then somehow welding them together with the arulin'holm would be enough to recreate the Eluvian.

There's a network of Eluvians referenced in the game. The Eluvian in Witch Hunt and the Eluvian in DA2 and the Dalish Origin could be different Eluvians, and likely are because Duncan destroys the Eluvian in Origins, making it pretty hard for Morrigan to use in Witch Hunt.

Maybe the reason Merrill can't get the mirror to work is because it's not actually the original mirror that was in the DE Origin just an attempted recreation with just a shard of the original.Deadlysyns wrote...

The Eluvian in the Dalish Origin is the same Eluvian you initially go to in Witch Hunt; that's why Finn addresses that it's tainted and why it's brought up that the Eluvian killed two Dalish elves (unless the Hero of Ferelden is the Dalish Warden).
Honestly, it could be a simple matter of heading back to Ferelden and getting the other pieces of the Eluvian for her "Mirror." It's not like she didn't have enough time when we consider that years have passed between Acts I and II.
