So I went through DA2 once and never got the Finding Nathaniel quest, but from what I'm reading doing the Fool's Gold quest kills that(until a patch comes out hopefully). I want to make certain my save didn't get screwed up as I got the codex entries in Awakening telling me Nathaniel and those I left at the Vigil died but I maxed out her defenses. I just want to know if I go with the epilogue telling me they survived or the codex entries, because Anders was one of them.

It's not a glitch. You can only get Finding Nathaniel if he survived, otherwise you will get Fool's Gold if he died in Awakening. If he survived in your Awakening Epilogue, then Finding Nathaniel should be in a quest in your game (and Fool's Gold shouldn't,) if it isn't then you have an import glitch.

So I have to go back and save the Vigil instead of Amaranthine? The only glitchs I've ever exploited were the infinite exp at Ostagar and infinite crystals in Redcliffe. So is my save corrupted? I wouldn't mind playing through Awakening and Witch Hunt(not so much Golems).

I've found it stated that; "If a saved game is imported from Awakening in which Nathaniel survived, this quest still may not trigger, unlocking the quest "Fool's Gold" in Act 2 instead."
