Natures Warding rune is sold at the dalish vendor in Act 1 afaik.

I recommend keeping a staff of all types and swapping depending on what you're fighting/kiting - doing 100damage each hit is alot less painful than doin 45-50 damage each hit, especially when archers/assassins are concerned oh, and electricity eats through the spiders)

I'm playing a solo nightmare mage as well. I've had a couple tough fights (anything with an assassin, Magister's Order Spider, etc.) but for the most part it has been pretty smooth sailing so far. I got to the end of Shepherding Wolves against all the Qunari and now I'm stuck. They are immune to all fire and electric, so I am pretty limited in my offensive abilities (especially aoe) and the qunari leader Arvaarad appears to have some sort of insane regen aura that heals everything back to full before my skill CDs refresh. I managed to kill off the starting archers one time only to have 2 more groups of them spawn. Did you have trouble with this fight? I don't see a video for it. Is there some easy trick I am missing here? Any tips? Thanks.

I have a video of this fight but it's 10 minutes of what Night Lies is, basically, and it's eating space on my external HD so I'm probably going to delete it. You should have upgraded Rock Armor, which really makes it a lot easier. You should be kiting around the giant oval thing, once all the ranged adds are dead you can either kill the big dude or the other ones, doesn't matter.

Is that the recipe or just the rune?

I'm looking for something early against the spiders.  I would like to have a lightning setup and nature setup for the deep roads.

I did the deeproad spiders with 0 nature resist. Bomb, dump magic, run for cooldowns, repeat, run, walking bomb kill the ranged ones then kite for victory.

They aren't as bad as the evil evil one for Magisters Orders.
Merril's Quest has 3 super ranged ones though. /wrist. Went in with 80% nature and they still almost killed me.

Looks like Fenris's quest bugs if you do it without him =/ Loss of 8 hours or loss of xp lol.

You can glitch the Monstrous Spider on the stairs, he's too big to make his way up unless you let the 2 mini ones (very)slowly push him up.

Once the ranged are dead the rest is cake, the problem was killing the ranged ones before they killed me.
Did you put a bunch of points into CON? I managed to do it eventually with walking bomb and lots of CoC + WG spam, took a few tries though.

The Ironbark quest was also really tough because of all the hurlock bolters and for some reason they have tons of HP. Used lots of walking bomb + WG + COC + spirit bolt spam there too.

I am surprised I have seen no mention on this thread of animation cancelling for the 5th staff attack. The animation on the last attack of the combo takes FOREVER and is easily the #1 cause of deaths in my play through so far. I found that if you move immediately when the animation starts for the 5th attack it will cancel the animation and you can start over a new combo again that will actually finish it's first attack before the original 5th attack would have finished. The exception is if you are kiting and start the 5th attack from movement you can not cancel the animation. So you have to be really careful to count your attacks while you are kiting. Anyone else using this or have the same problems with the 5th attack?

Yea 5th attack is a killer. I tend to do 12, back step, 34, back step, spirit bolt

For the Captain Reiner fight if you don't want to use the desk glitch....
The starting spawn is Captain Reiner (Assassin) + Abomination + 2 weak melee units. As soon as you kill 1 of the melee units, it spawns a bunch of skeletons and skeleton archers and as soon as you kill the skeleton archers it spawns more skeletons and skeleton archers.

So don't kill the two weak melee units until after Reiner is dead to make things easier. I went all single target dps and disable skills.
Spirit bolt, winters grasp, stonefist, horror+upgrade, petrify, crushing prison, etc.

Reiner's tactics for potions are "if health <50%, use potion" - so drop him to 51% health, then unleash everything you have in your disable + dps combo to kill him before he has a chance to use the pot.
You might need to do some experimenting with how many attacks you can get in between disables before he can stealth again.
Once he is dead, the rest is easy to kite around and the archers die in 1 stonefist/wg/cp/whatever.

Took a few tries, but it's definitely doable with some slight kiting in between skill casts to avoid abomination hits.

It seems 2 rage demons are much more annoying then 2 assassins.

Cold-Blooded isn't worth the price for my build, so I'm going to skip it as well.

Just spent the last hour reading the entire thread.... soloing on mage seems tedious enough, I still want to try it lol.Found this thread from the YT video comments.... you should edit all your vid descriptions to link this thread in all of them ;-)

thanks to all for sharing your experiences on soloing with a mage, very interesting!

Skipped Evil Tomes and went for Act 3. Duel was boringly boring. I'm glad I picked up healing.

Stacking Fire Resist for High Dragon right? I'm way behind you right now, so the next 2 days I'm going to spend trying to get to act 3 really quick. Going to go for the Evil Tomes though, and I have to do Nexus Golem next...

You can pull a fire ele, then rev + abom but I couldn't find a way to kill both the arcane horror and desire demon. I didn't stack spirit resist or anything though. It was just too annoying.

I ended up Full Spirit/Primal/Went with Heal => Haste

I have a small question to ask

Rock Armor with Galvanism
or
Arcane Shield with Arcane Wall + Elemental shield

I would like to go with just one of the above combos
Any suggestions
