But is it significant or just a developer nod?

Off topic: First thing I thought when I saw the picture was Sylvanas from World of Warcraft.

It would not surprise me one bit. From the moment Merrill brought home that Eluvian, it became clear to me that Morrigan would be back for DA3 (if not a DA2 DLC/expansion).
That's a good thought. I never really considered it that much.

The Seekers are evidently looking for both Hawke and the Warden, if Cassandra's book is a journal of some kind where they record what they know it would make sense for Morrigan, as the companion with the most potential influence on the plot, to be in it.

Yeah, if I hadn't already known she wasn't in the game I would have thought Merrill's Eluvian plot would have been what led to her cameo (ala Leliana/Zevran/Alistair). Although did people really think they wouldn't return to the Morrigan/Flemeth plot? It's seemed almost certain considering how Witch Hunt left things hanging and Flemeth's involvement in DA2. Great way to keep the franchise connected to the first game post blight as well.

It seems very likely she will return. Can't confirm she was killed during the Witch Hunt DLC since she fell through the Eluvian after being stabbed.
Which was undoubtably intentional for precisely this reason.

Basic answer: Not everybody sees it the way you do.Zalitara wrote...
People actually chose to kill her in Witch Hunt? I don't see what wrong she did? Sure the dark ritual was kinda shady, but not that bad, and seemed like an accepteble deal to me. Which is why I went through with it, (and would have in real life to mind you) but if you don't like it you had the option to say no, and if you do she just leaves. Why go after her and kill her then? She made an offer, you refused and you go off and stab her? ****es.

Or she needs some kind of protection for when Flemeth undoubly comes for her. I really think Flemeth is the real bad guy her, and if not wouldn't you do something drastic if you thought that someone that powerful was out to kill you?Raltar wrote...
Because you can't trust a god damn word
she says. It's pretty clear to me that she is up to some serious no
good. She wants a demonic old god baby to gain untold power that she
will use to either destroy or take over the world. She needs to be
stopped.

I don't think she is the evil some people seem to think she is. I certainly don't see Flemeth as a force of good...but she saved two of the most important people in all of Thedas(Hawke and the Warden). She did so for a reason and I believe she did it for the greater good. Aside from things Morrigan tells you, Flemeth hasn't done a single thing that would make me thing she is out to do bad things in the world. While Morrigan wants an evil demon old god baby which clearly can serve no good purpose.
