Hi,
I've a frustrating problem: I cannot reliable start the game.
CIDER hangs, and I have to force quit. I have also had the black screen unable to quit issue - at least the few times I have actually managed to get the game to run.
I have the new Raedon graphics card with 1GB of VRAM.

I play in windowed mode at 1330 res. Try that. It seems like a driver issue, sad panda.

I do play in windowed - but that only applies to when I can even get the game to run, which is not often. On the other hand, running in windowed at least solved the black-screen-of-death that required hard reboot.
Are there new/updated drivers or do I need to wait for a patch.
I really would prefer not to jump ship on the mac version.

Hi, it's not completely easy to tell, but it looks like you have some extension installed in your /Library/InputManagers folder. It could be APE, SIMBL or something else. Try moving it away.
If that doesn't fix it, post the "Open files" contents.

No new driver updates yet. Apple has been here as well as on WoW and SC2 forums gathering data. There is hope yet.
I only have an input method folder in my library folder and no extensions.

I have an '11 MBP with the 6750M and have no problems running the game. But I get hard lock-ups when exiting. If I run windowed I can still access the Finder and quit the app.
The game starts up fine in Intel or RADEON mode.
My suggestion would be to retry installing the game.

The new MBP's boot 64-bit mode by default. Try forcing it to 32 bit (cmd-3-2 I think) and see if that solves the issue with the first issue.
There are a number of reports of hard-crashes of the new machines under heavy load. Suspect may be too much thermal paste (again) and overheating.

Today's software update should fix the problem with lockups.

I'm having the same issues described but the mac software updates did not fix the issue (rather it allowed me to play the game once and now the same issue has returned a day later). I have been able to play the game once since it came out - and this was only yesterday when the new software updates came out - and while it was really fun I'm getting quite disheartened by the whole ordeal. I've re-installed the game and my software is up to date and the single time it has run it worked perfectly with no lockups however 99/100 times it fails to even start up and I have to force quit.
I can't be the only one still experiencing this problem? (As an aside I had a similar problem with Origins not loading up 100% of the time but it loaded probably a third of the time and so it wasn't a big deal - this never loads and makes me quite sad).

I emptied out the inputManagers - though it disturbs me that I had to uninstall 1Password in the process, and it did not fix the problem.
There is some indication that on the new 2011 macbook pro that there is a hard freeze problem in general correlated to heat.
Either way, I bootcamped, and registered my xbox 360 version - so some gameplay awaits me, just not with the import from DAI
