I just finished fighting the dragon in deep roads and the shield Winter-Weight dropped.
Aveline my tank is holding The Lion of Orlais, now i'm not entirely sure if this works on any shield, but as I was switching the shields in her inventory and comparing the stats I noticed that the armor kept going up. Everytime you put a new shield on it simply adds armor on top of the armor score already instead of deducting the current shields armor then adding it on.
So right now my aveline is sitting at 1202 armor (97%)
and my character is sitting at 1305 (98%)
Now I'm not sure if this actually has any effect on the actual game play or is it just an interface bug, I will be testing it out I suppose just thought you should know.

Just tried it out and my character and aveline are barely taking any damage at all. This takes a lot out of the game... Is there anyway to fix this?

ugh had to reload to a previous save... this bug makes the game SUPER boring..

This is a known bug, and they are probably working on it with the rest of the game glitches. Reason is that this glitch causes other game breaking bugs to occur.

What happens if you then equip a two handed weapon? Does the armor reset?

Oh, right, it was for shields. I tried doing it with a bodypiece and it wasn't working.
I don't know, that is a good question because I have thought about doing it. I already am using a Mage to see at what level I will be if I do everything available to me in the game, and just want to enjoy the story when playing as a Warrior, because it starts off a lot slower than the other classes.

Just tried it myself, and two-handed weapon does nothing to reset the armor values. Looks like it is just another irrepairable glitch for the moment.

For those with the bug (seems to just be some of us 360 users), it is in fact all shields. It does seem unique to the Shield slot, so Warrior-Hawke and Aveline are the only ones affected.
Considering how it's gone for my own, and several other posts, the moderators will likely come by, check in on this thread as they have the others about the same glitch, state "We are looking into it." and then you will never hear from them again.

I just noticed I have runes that will give me 2,888 resistance to things, is that a similar glitch?

Just some is interesting because I've not seen this effect. Is it strictly this set of shields or is it any shields? If it is only some people are there any theories on the trigger?

It happened to me once. I was going back and forth between two shields (undecided about which one to use) for Aveline and realized the armor value was only going up every time I swapped as the previous shield's armor value wasn't subtracted when I removed it.

It doesn't matter what shields you use. Or if you only have one shield and equip, un-equip, re-equip. Triggers the same stacking effect of your armor stat. It's the only bug in the game I've encountered so far. But then I just started it for the first time Sunday... Now I'm shelving the game until it's patched and hopefully when it's 'ready', my first play through will be devoid of all these other bugs people are talking about!

Hate to say this, but I actually am grateful for the bug, playing my second playthrough as a mage on nightmare. Getting pimp slapped back and forth is not fun... having a strong tank to hold them off makes it a bit more tolerable.
