Okay, so I'm having problems with the bug whereby Merril is bemoaning the loss of the keeper without anything having happened to my knowledge. I cannot enter her house becuase that automatically triggers the scene. What I need to know is how to get her Act 3 quest to trigger. I romanced Merril in Act 2, reloaded to a point BEFORE doing her 'A talking to' quest to avoid the spoilerific cutscene ,have finished 'On the loose' and have spoken to Alistair, still nothing. I travelled to Sundermount and was attacked by thieves who had a gift for her, but nothing much else happened after that.
I tried doing a couple of unrelated quest and zoning back to Sundermount, but I only got the 'Justice' quest trigger for Anders.
Can anyone tell me how to get this quest to pop as my playthrough has pretty much stopped dead now, and it's only my first. if I lose momentum now, I likely won't bother finishing it.

I apologise if this has been dealt with in another topic, but I couldn't find anything (it's hard when you don't want to spoiler any more of the game than necessary)

P.S. Is it true that if you sleep with Isabela at all (I had one night with her before romancing Merrill, then Isabela buggered off) it bugs the epilogue as if you fully romaned Isabela? If so, I've just borked my playthrough :(

There is no way to get the quest to trigger in order. The quest will always trigger out of order until the patch comes through. Meaning you have to do the 'Talking to' quest which will trigger the 'Mourning' quest prematurely, which is unfortunate but unavoidable at this time.

As for the Isabela glitch, I don't know yet, some people claim it does glitch where Varric says 'Isabela' stayed with Hawke instead of Merrill. I'm currently in a playthrough where Hawke slept with Isabela but is romancing Merrill as well. Can't give you any information on that until after I beat the game again.

So let me get this right, Act 3, then spoiler cutscene, 'A talking to', 'Talk to Alistair' in that order and it should pop? Still going to be disappointing to have no real conclusion to the quest, and I spoilered way more of the endgame than I wanted trawling for solutions :( It really put a dent in my immersion, as I was thoroughly drawn in before this.
Think I'll try another playthrough, I wonder if the same issue happens with the rivalmance?

No you do the Talking to quest. Then you have to complete On The Loose, then you have to go your home if you are romancing Merrill to get the quest to pop up in your quest log book. Then you have to go to Merrill's home to talk to her about going to do her final quest since the other quests are out of order.

If you are not romancing Merrill the quest usually pops up right after you finish the "On The Loose" quest. It's a odd thing but that is how it works.

Weird, I did things in the order I posted above and the quest popped up as soon as I'd talked to Alistair. I had to go through the broken cutscene at her house first though

It's a bug, hopefully it will be fixed with all the other bugs people are reporting when the patch comes out.

Yeah I knew I'd hit the bug, wanted a way around it. Is there a date on the patch?

not as of yet. The game has only been out for about a week and a half. It's going to take a while to catalogue all the bugs, then recreate them on the testers end of things before they can even begin coding a patch for the game. Also there are new bugs being found every day. I'm guessing it will take about a month before the patch is ready.
