Who's your idol?

Full of love, not one malicious thought; a simple mind without worries.

Carl Sagan - An awesome science communicator that died way too young.
Richard Dawkins - though his style can sometimes be a bit abrasive, his writings on biology are outstanding.
James Randi - the magician turned professional skeptic, consumer advocate and educator. He's done great work to help people by exposing charlatains and low-lifes that take advantage of people in their most dire need. Not too long ago he exposed a "bomb detection device" bought by the military and used in Irak at checkpoints, as a glorified dowsing rod with no actual mechanism by which it could work, and nothing but the ideomotor effect to make people THINK it works. He saved many lives by doing that.
A childhood idol of mine was Arthur C. Clarke - I used to watch his "Arthur C. Clarke's Mysterious World" on TV, and loved it.

I try to see everyone in life as my teacher. That leaves little room for idols.

In a media driven world that throws in your face at a young age all the so called "idols" the really idols are the people who live around you all around the world, who stuggle to make a living and stuggle to make a dream come true.

However, Trent Reznor kinda popped into my head - he definitely does not qualify as an idol for me, but what I really like about him is how he shows that you should stay true and honest to yourself, your believes and your style and not give a damn about trying to blend into modern consumer and sheeple society. Individualism at its best.
Plus, I admire his music. But an idol? Not really.
