There are times some of those skills would actually be helpful in real life!!

The probably doesn't count, but I couldn't imagine playing the later stages of the game without Unshakable. No more getting knocked down or staggered from even weak attacks!

To me it kinda seems like mages got the shaft in specializations. But so did tanking warriors. Not that you really even need any tanking abilities(aside from taunt, maybe) to be a proper tank. But still.

They are very handy. Pull of the Void folowed by Chain Lightning. Aveline's Taunt followed by the slowing skill. Clearing enemies from the mage with shockwave. Only the Fist of the Maker seems useless to me.

Gravitic Ring + Pull of the Abyss is ridiculously strong, talking about mass shutdown!

I think Force Mage got the shaft. One damage spell and redundancy spells that do no damage. Unshakable is nice to keep your mage from getting pimp slapped all over the battlefield or owned by every arrow.

Overall I'm rather disappointed with all three mage specializations.

Oh yes. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Fist of the Maker in particular. Every time I casted it on a large group of foes I would yell "SIT DOWN" in my head.

Pull of the Void and Gravitic ring were also a real crowd pleaser. Especially when combined with AOE attacks.

see fist was my bread and butter spell there. if pull of the void is the one that gathers enemies up, i liked taht too for maximal aoe shenanigans.

tempest, pull, fireball, fist, chain lightning, nothings alive

Force mage was useless.
I first speced it up, then used a potion and placed those points in more useful skills.

Fist of the Maker is useful when upgraded. It can be used quite frequently, and it's good for taking down larger mobs, buying yourself some time to get to a safer distance. Pull of the Void was insanely useful when coupled with a Glyph of Paralysis. Pull five enemies together, watch nearly all of them get frozen in place. Pure gold.

Pull of the Void + Gravity Ring+paralysis
then spam with aoe spells and have your warrrior stagger them and  slam them with upgraded fist of the maker or chain lightning.

Seriously! I don't think I can play any other type of mage after this. I feel so powerful slapping enemies down with a mere toss of my hand, kind of like a DA version of a biotic. :D No wonder Meredith's wary of me.

Force Mage has become my favorite Magic spec after Shape Shifter. I know shape shifter sucks unless you make a "strong" shape shifter but the Lore is better than Blood Magic imo.

You must be one those people if you don't see pretty DPS numbers, you hate the ability.

Force Mage is hands down best Spec out of every spec for every class.  Because you can't understand it's role, doesn't mean it sucks.

Refer to here, you'll understand, if you don't like to Supreme General, rather be another DPS grunt, understandible.

Really? Have you played on hard with half (or more) of your team being glasscannon (int/wp or agi/cun) builds? If so, how on earth can you not appreciate the 'leave her alone, ****!' aspect of Pull of the Void when used to knock assassins out of stealth and away from the more fragile of your team mates?

Pull of the abyss, casting sleep, then upgraded chain lightning = fried squishy flesh creatures.

I'm LOVING force mage right now. I could never play a mage through DA:O. It just didn't feel 'fun' to me... but I was able to EASILY beat the Arishok in a one-on-one duel with my mage. I only had to run when the gravity ring was no longer in the middle of the room and he was trying to chase me directly. Being a mage in DAII is so much fun. Of course, I also loved playing a rogue, but I think mage is much more interesting in combat this time around. The only downside is having Carver instead of Bethany. ;) So I let him go join the templars in a huff.

Mmm Fist of the Maker.... I loved Force Mage. So much fun I'm having problems imagining how another class will match up to it.

I don't know why other people have a problem with force magic I its pretty good. I really enjoyed being a mage in DA2, being one in DAO was unbearable.
