Alright, a few days ago there was a thread discussing an interview of some dev who talked that there should be "skip the combat button". I found it hilarious. However today I understood there seriously should be that kind of button. I found DA2 unplayable because of various reasons, but one of those reasons could be easily fixed with skip the combat button.

This is not trolling. Or if you say this is trolling then you must say the dev trolled too who invented "skip the combat button" idea, which would still not make this posting trolling.

I'd actually say something like this should be implemented for all RPGs. I noticed that this was especially the case with Planescape Torment; the story/dialogue was so phenomenal that I didn't even want to play through combat encounters, period.

Oh I agree, or better yet give us change to talk our way out of fights or avoid them with stealth or something.

And only give experience when you finish a quest not by killing damn stuff.

Brilliant idea, OP. Skip dialogue, skip combat, skip travel, and then complain on the forums how the game is way too short and EA is the master of evil and Bioware destroyed your childhood.

I don't really understand people like you.

You enjoy combat alright, you don't have to skip it.

However not all do, so why do you feel the need to tell them how to play their games.

So, it is none of your beeswax!

Excellent. A new excuse for developers to skip on level design. Don't like it, skip it. Brilliant.

I thought it was also amusing in a very sad sad way that the female dev's reasoning is that female gamers don't have time for all that fighting and thinking and leveling. She said RPGs should be simplified if they want female gamers, because females are too busy taking care of their family. How progressive. And it was a feminist blog, too.

You would say "yes" after DA2 would be changed to use old SSI gold box combat. You would hate the combat so much that you would not want to play it but rather skip it to see the story and not waste completely 60$ of your sig edition.

Here, take a look of combat in next vid and say again would it be a good idea to have a "skip the combat button".

I'd rather they make it where my character can solve problems without being a petty dungeon crawling mercenary.

One could just stop pre-ordering based on hype, and find out weather or not the game is any good before buying it.

I have a beta version of DA3, here is a game play movie from start to finish.

It really streamlines the game and gets rid of any sticky part.

I enjoy well designed combat, but I do agree that games need a lot more opportunities to problem solve without violence, as well as exp rewarded.  I mean, really, it gets silly sometimes.

I preordered because I thought I buy enchanted version of DA with new story like BG2 was to BG.

(Was my first preoder game by the way. And most probably last.)

What you tough guys lose if there is "skip the combat" button?

I honestly wouldn't mind a skip-combat-button. Sometimes I'm just not in the mood...

It'd also allow me to share the story with those who aren't interested in the gameplay.

I agree with this sentiment. I can't tell you how many times I've replayed KOTOR or ME1 or DAO on casual difficulty just to skip through combat sequences. I also use runscript kill all hostiles. There is definitely a legitimate and functional use for it, just as much as skipping dialog and cinematics.

Some of you people have such a tunnel vision.

You can already skip dialogue.

Why is it any different to give skip combat button for those that find combat boring and just care more about the story.

Ah, I feel for you.

I've never pre-ordered before, but I remember buying this rediculous collector's edition of Oblivion when it came out without a second thought.  lol  I then escaped the dongeons to go frollicking in endless fields of pretty flowers.  Luckily the modding comunity did amazing things with it, and Shivering Isles is great, so it wasn't so bad in the end... though I still wasted I forget how much extra, for a collectors edition, where all you get is a fancier metal box, a fake coin, and a 'making of' disk.  Derp.  XD

If they want to include a "Super-Casual" difficulty that is unlocked after you beat the game on Normal or whatever that would be fine. I wouldn't do it but I'm sure there are people who would like it.

It would be appreciated if you'd stop trolling this thread with those pictures.

If you have nothing to add, don't post.

I agree. If combat isn't going to be fun, there should be a skip option for it.

No combat means no levels, no skills, no character advancement, which i dare say roughly constitutes 50% of what an rpg should be about. But then again on these forums MLB2k10 was a RPG, so was GTA, SO WAS GEARS OF WAR. So i should probably quit.
