I agree with most of the people who posted here. No replay value to ME. Please note that I said to me, it is a really good game, I'll buy all the DLCs and preorder DA3. But if you stand this game along side BG, NWN, KotOR, Mass Effect and DA Origins, This game rolls over to the Jade Empire side of the shelf for me. I played it through once, and started another play through and wasn't very inspired to continue. Other than Varric the companions seemed disjointed (Got to love Isabella's facual expressions though). Maybe I should note that I have the same problem with movies that have that OMG ending, like the Sixth Sense, can't watch that movie again because of that. And that is a great movie. This is a really good game, I liked it. I was addicted to DA: O. 38 play throughs. What was I thinking? :}

Just once I was kicked out of the game. That caused me to stop playing for a minute - to start the game once more. The main reason I stop playing DA II from time to time - is a necessity to do daily quests in WoW. And let my wife play her Hawke Mage, while my Rogue takes some rest ;)

I finished the game but turned it down to casual because the combat just got tedious. Wave after wave after wave of trash mobs tends to kill any interest I may have. I started up a new playthrough with a Rogue because I thought a different combat style might make it more interesting but I got as far as the gates of Kirkwall. I can't do these endless enemy pop-in battles and look at the same 7 environments anymore. Totally disappointing in nearly all aspects.

I have to admit I am halfway through my third playthrough and am beginning to think about what other game I can play next.
DAO kept me immersed for at least twenty playthroughs, the story and character development and relationships kept me totally addicted for months. Then came the mods and dlc.

But this game, even though some things are lovely, like the mirror of transformation and the exciting fighting, this game has left me feeling let down in a big way.

I really am very disappointed with the dialougue system and the romance paths, it feels as if there are only about two or three caring or romantic moments in the whole game, I am playing the fenris romance and he hasnt spoken to me more than one long conversation in the first act. It seems so disjointed and wrong. I don't like the rivalry/friendship thing. Ick too confusing. The only character I feel happy with is Aveline, some of the quests and chats with her have been great, really lovely and therefore I adore her character.

Also I hate, hate with a passion that you click on your buddies as you are going about your missions and you get fobbed off with a stock reply.

I liked the romance with Anders but no hugs at the end, no spontaneous kisses or cuddles when he was in my home, it felt so cold and I felt so unsatisfied. Maybe the romance with fenris will improve but in general the whole character development and relationship development feels like it was done by an amateur in stead of the genius who created and wrote dragon age origins.

So much to love about this game so many wonderful aspects improved upon but for me the most important thing about a game is the immersion, character development and relationships/friendships and this is the one area that took a huge step backwards. Posted Image

Its like the OP can read my very soul. I'm just.. Sick of it. I've never been tired of a game this quicky. Sometimes I like "hmm.. Maybe I should give DA2 another chance.." Then I'm like. "Nah. I guess I'll just get around to finish reading Musashi.."

For me it was the combat. I think I stopped playing sometime during act 2. Walk into another room and yet ANOTHER goddamn 3 wave teleporting enemy fight. Honestly, if it happened once or twice it wouldn't matter, but every single fight? People gibbing every time you stab them? Dumb. Endless replays of the same maps... ugh.

I did every sidequest and listened to all the conversations, but the overall impression of the game for me was just... not good. There were only a couple of characters I could care less about, and the story was disjointed, at best. I really wanted to like this game, but right now couldn't be bothered starting it again.

I loved BW games from Baldur's Gate onwards, please tell me this was just a cash grab and not a general change of direction for the company.

After completing my first playthrough, I had an initial phase of "Should I play another playthrough?" It wasn't because I didn't like the game, but I always try to find the class, spec and a positive group dynamic before I even start. Well, then I realized that rivalries are just as good as friendships so I went with that and never looked back.

I've been tempted to stop playing a few times. I occasionally take some breaks and load up my third ME2 playthrough which I haven't completed yet and the odd game of NWN. I'm still not finished my first run through DA2 yet, but almost there. I'm determined to finish it, but I do understand how it feels. I'm not sure I'll come back to this game very much in the future once I'm done. Maybe if I had nothing better to do, I might explore this game further... but at times, it just feels like there is nothing much to explore.

I'd still give the game a "pass," as opposed to "fail," but it lacks the kind of magic I'm so used to seeing from the other Bioware games that I own. I'm also a little disappointed from what I've read about Bioware shooting for the CoD crowed... which, to be honest, doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me since their whole success was from being different in the first place. Oh well.

On the second playthrough right now, trying to do all the things I skipped the first time. The only reason I've stopped in Act III is because my wife just finished and she romanced Merrill as well. I want to see how it all turns out as an apostate Mage champion, but I'm going to hold off a little while since I've effectively seen the game unfold three times. I loved every minute, though, so I'm definitely not stopping for the same reasons.

This game sure seems to treat the user like a hamster in a wheel. Hmm, haven't I been here and done this 20 times before? Lets just stop and go take a sip from the water bottle.....

This.

I am 35 hours in, almost at the end (act 3) I am stopping. At least for a few days.
I am f***ing sick of it. The story, the characters, the gameplay... the SAME LEVELS AGAIN.

F*ck it all.

When a game has you drop a couple of hours before the big finale... clearly there is a problem.

Oh, and the romances are PATHETIC. So I was going for Isabella after all, and I did her final Questionin Beliefs quest. So she finally tells me she falls for me. Cool. I thought I had tamed her.

Next thing I know, we go on the Murder of Crows quest, and despite telling me she loved me a few minutes earlier, she goes on to f*ck the sh*it out of Zevran. In front of me. Can you believe this?

Maybe a piece of code stating

IF LoveDeclared=true
(
IsabellaTrampMode=false;
SleepWithZevran=false;
)

would have helped. Was that too difficult Bioware?
Or was it just the purpose to make her a tramp to the end?

I am not surprised she does not have an appreciation thread.

My "favorite" was the quest Fault and Favor. That quest probably would have been tolerable if you hadn't already traversed the DA2 "universe" 70+ times.... All I kept saying was "Maker, put me out of my misery already". That and Anders, who just completely and uttterly got under my skin all game long with his obsessive/compulsive disorder.

I hope you're not trying to pull an ad hominem there. Need I point out that registering a game on the forum wasn't necessary until ME2 and that DA:O allowed you to download the Stone Prisoner and Warden's Keep directly through the in-game download manager?

I didn't mind the 'grind out sovereigns' questline (S'how Baldur's Gate II started, after all), at least at first; but once it was finished, there didn't seem to be any point to it. Woop-de-doo, some dude stole a certain item. I still have no idea how that item factors into anything important.

That's why you finish the game, it will answer alot of questions including the above.

Aaaaaand your point being?

Also, I didn't say I 'own' every bioware game. I've 'played' every bioware game. There's a difference.

I 'own' the Baldur's Gate trilogy, Planescape: Torment, Jade Empire, Kotor 1 and 2, ME 1 and 2, and Dragon Age 2. I sold my DA:0 game just because it didn't really grab me all that much.

And no, I'm not going to register my decade-old games. No reason to, and I don't have the UPC code to do it 'cause I bought used.

Doesn't matter anyway.  I have NWN1, Jade Empire, ME1 and DA2.  The older games don't show up if you register them.  I also had DA:O, but I had to get rid of it due to an addiction...thank God Bioware changed that with DA2.  I don't have to worry about playing it too much....

The way they pop said item back in is retarded though, why should I start caring for something that I havent seen or heard about for 2/3rds of the game. I always thought that was the weakest part of the entire games story.

Ive also kinda stopped in act 3, not sure why though. I guess it just feels too much like work rather than having interest in how the story ends. I will eventually finish it of course, but after like 50 hours or so this game just doesnt appeal anymore.

If you do all Varrics companion quests ** Semi SPOILER?

you get info on the Item during act two and some hints about it being a bigger part in the game and you get more hints in act three. You just have to put things together and not just wait for the story to tell you whats going on.

I'm in the same boat as the topic creator. Haven't touched the game for six days now. I'll probably find the urge to play it when some more DLC is released.

but for something so importain you think it would have been in more then one sidequest. I'm ok with having the story not spoonfeeding you but it felt like th writers at the end went "oh yea this one thing was going to be important, better put it in the game somewere again."
