DAO kept me immersed for at least twenty playthroughs, the story and character development and relationships kept me totally addicted for months. Then came the mods and dlc.
But this game, even though some things are lovely, like the mirror of transformation and the exciting fighting, this game has left me feeling let down in a big way.
I really am very disappointed with the dialougue system and the romance paths, it feels as if there are only about two or three caring or romantic moments in the whole game, I am playing the fenris romance and he hasnt spoken to me more than one long conversation in the first act. It seems so disjointed and wrong. I don't like the rivalry/friendship thing. Ick too confusing. The only character I feel happy with is Aveline, some of the quests and chats with her have been great, really lovely and therefore I adore her character.
Also I hate, hate with a passion that you click on your buddies as you are going about your missions and you get fobbed off with a stock reply.
I liked the romance with Anders but no hugs at the end, no spontaneous kisses or cuddles when he was in my home, it felt so cold and I felt so unsatisfied. Maybe the romance with fenris will improve but in general the whole character development and relationship development feels like it was done by an amateur in stead of the genius who created and wrote dragon age origins.
So much to love about this game so many wonderful aspects improved upon but for me the most important thing about a game is the immersion, character development and relationships/friendships and this is the one area that took a huge step backwards.

I did every sidequest and listened to all the conversations, but the overall impression of the game for me was just... not good. There were only a couple of characters I could care less about, and the story was disjointed, at best. I really wanted to like this game, but right now couldn't be bothered starting it again.
I loved BW games from Baldur's Gate onwards, please tell me this was just a cash grab and not a general change of direction for the company.

I'd still give the game a "pass," as opposed to "fail," but it lacks the kind of magic I'm so used to seeing from the other Bioware games that I own. I'm also a little disappointed from what I've read about Bioware shooting for the CoD crowed... which, to be honest, doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me since their whole success was from being different in the first place. Oh well.

This game sure seems to treat the user like a hamster in a wheel. Hmm, haven't I been here and done this 20 times before? Lets just stop and go take a sip from the water bottle.....
This.
I am 35 hours in, almost at the end (act 3) I am stopping. At least for a few days.
I am f***ing sick of it. The story, the characters, the gameplay... the SAME LEVELS AGAIN.
F*ck it all.
When a game has you drop a couple of hours before the big finale... clearly there is a problem.
Oh, and the romances are PATHETIC. So I was going for Isabella after all, and I did her final Questionin Beliefs quest. So she finally tells me she falls for me. Cool. I thought I had tamed her.
Next thing I know, we go on the Murder of Crows quest, and despite telling me she loved me a few minutes earlier, she goes on to f*ck the sh*it out of Zevran. In front of me. Can you believe this?
Maybe a piece of code stating
IF LoveDeclared=true
(
IsabellaTrampMode=false;
SleepWithZevran=false;
)
would have helped. Was that too difficult Bioware?
Or was it just the purpose to make her a tramp to the end?
I am not surprised she does not have an appreciation thread.

I hope you're not trying to pull an ad hominem there. Need I point out that registering a game on the forum wasn't necessary until ME2 and that DA:O allowed you to download the Stone Prisoner and Warden's Keep directly through the in-game download manager?

I didn't mind the 'grind out sovereigns' questline (S'how Baldur's Gate II started, after all), at least at first; but once it was finished, there didn't seem to be any point to it. Woop-de-doo, some dude stole a certain item. I still have no idea how that item factors into anything important.
That's why you finish the game, it will answer alot of questions including the above.

Aaaaaand your point being?
Also, I didn't say I 'own' every bioware game. I've 'played' every bioware game. There's a difference.
I 'own' the Baldur's Gate trilogy, Planescape: Torment, Jade Empire, Kotor 1 and 2, ME 1 and 2, and Dragon Age 2. I sold my DA:0 game just because it didn't really grab me all that much.
And no, I'm not going to register my decade-old games. No reason to, and I don't have the UPC code to do it 'cause I bought used.

Doesn't matter anyway. I have NWN1, Jade Empire, ME1 and DA2. The older games don't show up if you register them. I also had DA:O, but I had to get rid of it due to an addiction...thank God Bioware changed that with DA2. I don't have to worry about playing it too much....Gentleman Moogle wrote...

The way they pop said item back in is retarded though, why should I start caring for something that I havent seen or heard about for 2/3rds of the game. I always thought that was the weakest part of the entire games story.

If you do all Varrics companion quests ** Semi SPOILER?
you get info on the Item during act two and some hints about it being a bigger part in the game and you get more hints in act three. You just have to put things together and not just wait for the story to tell you whats going on.

but for something so importain you think it would have been in more then one sidequest. I'm ok with having the story not spoonfeeding you but it felt like th writers at the end went "oh yea this one thing was going to be important, better put it in the game somewere again."
