I was able to get through my first playthrough though I did start to lose interest in the middle of act 2 and encountered a ton of bugs in act 3. Started a 2nd playthrough as a mage Hawke but lost all interest near the end of act 1 and have moved onto other games. I'll probably resume my playthrough at some point but right now DA2 just doesn't have much that makes me want to replay it.

Disappointed since I played DAO start to finish at least 11 times and not once did I get bored of it. Oh well, hopefully future DA2 DLC is decent...

DLC can't help this game because it has to be built on top of it.

They can at least fix the map re-use and some minor bugs.

The maps wont be fixed, and if ME2 is any idication some of the storyline bugs wont be ether.

Trucking through my second playthough is a chore.  I keep ending up going back to the first Dragon Age game to try a radically different playthrough to see if a different world can make this game any more replay value, but then I end up having more fun playing tjose games and just don't want to load up DA2. Since BioWare is tracking my metrics they can actually verify that I'm doing this (I got a few more of the mage achievements for getting all the talents in a given school in Origins and Awakenings while getting absolutly nothing in DA2)

I didnt. I love it. I have just finished act 2 and so far a love it ! I am on something about 55 hours...And I dont really understand why you dont like it :/ .. For me it is of the best RPGs out there, honestly. And when you are almost finished, do it man ! I hear that ending is really epic so maybe then you will understand the whole story and will know why that happened and that... Just, try to finish it, give it a 2nd chance ;)

That would basically have to be a game-changing sized patch, not a DLC.

I played through about half way through act 2. Agreed with all the major criticism points noted on these forums. Its been a while since I played Origins, so I decided to play a little of it - maybe the new stuff in DA2 really is an improvement, and I'm just looking at Origins through rose colored glasses? I never finished Awakening, so I picked up where I left off.... and played until I finished. I had no desire to go back to DA2, I enjoyed Origins that much more... sigh, please don't streamline the next Dragon Age title please...

No, I was hooked to the story and thought it was one of the improvements over the first DA. When I finished it I was left wanting more. This story felt more personal to me than the one in Origins. I have plenty of complaints about DA2, but I have to admit the story did keep me hooked all the way until the end.

Getting to the story is the problem, at least when we look at it from a replay aspect.

I stopped playing during Act 2. Total War: Shogun 2 came out, and it absorbed my attention. I've finally gone back to it now, just to finish it off, I'll probably end up going back to shogun 2 after DA2 is completed though.

The main story is just far too outweighed by the optional side quests. I'm a completionist so I want to do all the sidequests, but there's just so many of them, and so little story between them. Not to mention the dungeon and enemys being reused left right and centre. :

I have a very similar situation to the OP, but I did finish it. I found out I missed Fenris, because I chose not to to a quest that seemed evil, but when I tried to go through a second time I just couldn't. I might try in a couple months. It was just too repetative and didn't draw me in, and after realising you can't change much, I just gave up. Even Jade Empire I played twice.

If I were going to take just one companion with me it would be Fenris. That stick your hand through their chest thing he does is awesome.....

In the same boat as the OP, the numerous glaring shortcuts and poor design decisions have just stacked up to a point where I can't get in to the game anymore, pity because I love the world, lore and story but the presentation has ruined it for me.

Ah well no use carping, time to crack open the grog and get rat arsed.

I beat DA2, but my second playthrough pretty much let me see everything, and I was rather disappointed because I have beat DA:O over 11 times and was still finding new things. DA:O was huge and immersive, but DA2 suffered from being too seemingly small. The story was great, but the execution was poor. DA2 feels slopped together overall, but if they took out all the story and just made it a blood both arena where strategy was involved, I'd love the game. To be frank, I replayed Too Human a lot more and found that the story might have sucked, but it atleast didn't try too hard to make you care any and just threw combat at you. Why didn't they just make a Jade Empire 2 .:(

actually, I've kind of hit a wall in terms of desire to play........and my Hawkes have just arrived at Kirkwall............lol.

I was super-excited for this game. Followed the progress from day one. Had my SE pre-ordered.

But, once I actually started playing it, I haven't been able to get into the game much.

I think, for one, I'm still trying to adjust to the new facial models in the Character Creator. This was a problem I had in Origins, where I literally made no progress in the game because I kept restarting to get my Warden's looks just right. Yes, I know in DA2, you can use the mirror to readjust your Hawke's looks, but I guess I'm just a perfectionist..........lol.

I think another more important reason, however, is when I heard confirmation from the players on this board that choosing specs like Blood Mage and Templar have no bearing or relevance on the story.

For me, that was a HUGE roleplaying/immersion breaker. I had come up with several different cool stories involving a BM Hawke or a Templar Hawke, and I was hoping that would actually affect the story. Y'know, given the whole Chantry/Templar vs Mage conflict ( and the fact that there seems to be quite a few BMs in the story ).

So, when I found out that Hawke being a BM or a Templar made no real difference to the story, I guess I kind of lost interest...........

Thats why I read as little as i can about a game before I play it!

This game sure seems to treat the user like a hamster in a wheel. Hmm, haven't I been here and done this 20 times before? Lets just stop and go take a sip from the water bottle.....

This.

I am 35 hours in, almost at the end (act 3) I am stopping. At least for a few days.
I am f***ing sick of it. The story, the characters, the gameplay... the SAME LEVELS AGAIN.

F*ck it all.

When a game has you drop a couple of hours before the big finale... clearly there is a problem.

Oh, and the romances are PATHETIC. So I was going for Isabella after all, and I did her final Questionin Beliefs quest. So she finally tells me she falls for me. Cool. I thought I had tamed her.

Next thing I know, we go on the Murder of Crows quest, and despite telling me she loved me a few minutes earlier, she goes on to f*ck the sh*it out of Zevran. In front of me. Can you believe this?

Maybe a piece of code stating

IF LoveDeclared=true
(
IsabellaTrampMode=false;
SleepWithZevran=false;
)

would have helped. Was that too difficult Bioware?
Or was it just the purpose to make her a tramp to the end?

I am not surprised she does not have an appreciation thread.

What the ****? She does that? Hell no. I'll just romance merrill when I feel like continuing my character.
Screw Isabella.

Calling it now.

There is zero chance that they will change that. It would require too much time and effort aka money.

While I did finish, I can understand the OP.

The many quests in the first act were so cookie cutter, then all the copy paste dungeons... I had to force myself to get through several times. Especially in the dark plot twists where I often felt "this isn't happy sparetime entertainment anymore!"

Im on the same boat as OP right now. Ive lost so much interest in DA2 that im alt tabbed from A3 to post somewhere on the boards about my dissatisfaction with the game. Until DA2, i've never ever had to do this, even as i was on my fourth playthrough of ME2 or DAO.

OK, there seems to be some confusion about Man-Giraffe-Dog on the forums, notably that it just looks like a Giraffe-Dog. Well... that's the POINT. Why do you think I'm the only one warning you. It's disguised as a Giraffe-Dog until it's ready to take over the world.
OK this is how Man-Giraffe-Dog came to be:
Posted Image

While growing up it was spotted in the wild (but the team was all killed by it and the photos were recovered afterwards)
Posted Image

After which it began its infiltration of humanity, disguised as Giraffe-Dog:

Which leaves us here. Man-Giraffe-Dog is poised to attack and destroy humanity and I'm trying to warn everyone before it's too late. This is totally serial guys. You need to prepare.

Excelsior!
