Grabbing aggro with Aveline

i use mainly single target attacks, so its hard to even steal aggro off other people... if i go with fenris, i run with the trouble if my people are getting attacked, i kill the wrong guys pretty fast.
suggestions?

The first mob or two that rush in I dont really worry about threat, I just drop them. Once there are 3+ enemies close, I'll use scatter on them followed by a taunt to get the ones a ways off. One thing that will help a lot is don't use your massive AoE's until you KNOW Avaline has threat, or her taunt is off CD.
My Hawke is an Archer, with Merril sporting Blood Magic dps and lots of CC (Horror, Petrify, Crushing Prison) with Anders as a dedicated healer. The only one who gives Avaline threat problems is Merril's crazy aoe and some crazy 2k+ Assassinates from Hawke.

Night Lies is the quest Martagin is referring to, but the weapon is really not that great. I am playing NM mode a second time with her as my tank instead of Fenris. I went just far enough into the weapon and shield tree for scatter and/or tremor for some AoE. The other important ones are Taunt (Upgraded) and Bravery(Upgraded for 50% more threat).

im in act 2 nm atm, so aoe's aren't a problem... its grabing enough threat with taunt or goad seems to be the issue because they don't create it, just transfers it... im thinking that maybe bravery + temor + scatter would be able to do this pretty well considering that just the one enemy im facing generally isn't a threat.
and wouldn't it be better to dish out AoE's by every character that has one in normal and then follow it with a taunt so that it actually gave you some threat?
Edit: by the way, i guess my biggest problem is i don't 100% know how the threat works... my ranged damage dealers will focus on 1 person at a time, i'll hit a group with scatter, and they'll pretend i dont exist and go straight for my damage dealers. I'll lay down a taunt when all hell is breaking loose and the only one that i really keep aggro on is the damaged ones.

With Aveline, I think you're gonna have to physically micro her a lot in order to get the aoe aggro. Lots of moving and dash attacks in order to maximixe the small cone on the 1h weapon.

Be sure to pick up bravery and its +50% threat bonus if you don't want to micromanage a lot.

Oh yeah, according to the guide: the person the enemies see first is the one they will hate the most. So, controlling Aveline to have her run in first should help.

This was what my Aveline was specced in my rogue playthrough. Absolute beasting on those mobs. She a lone can take out all the mooks in a 180 cone in front of her if I apply overpowering fog for the disorient effect. Her threat is through the roof on bosses as well with the constant battery assaults.

i like the idea, but i think im gonna make a few changes to it... i don't think the magic/damage resistance defender skills are worth the points... and i survive by kitting the battles i would use stonewall (even though, it came in handy very much during the rock wraith battle). its just all i think i really need from defender is upgraded elemental aegis for when magic is a problem. with the natrual 20% damage reduce + 25/50% from shield defense, she should do just fine.
Im big into ccc's with this build, so thanks a lot for the overpowering fog idea, i think that will really get me in motion, and thats kind of the same reason i want tremor... my healer has upgraded chain lightning and crushing prison as his only really offencive moves, so i like to make them count.
