Alright, let's try this another way. Who, exactly, is supervising Dalish Keepers? They are responsible for leading their clans, so I suppose they can be said to report to the clain, but this is a far cry from having every room in their homes fitted with hot and cold running templars.

You say the idea doesn't work for you? OK, maybe you can't get your head around it. Personally, I can't get my head around how the International Date Line works. But the fact is that the idea does work for a lot of people.

The Dalish are a rather small group and Merrill says several times "we look out for each other." so yes one would presume that the clan looks out for the Keeper and the keeper does the same.

Anyway I'm backing out. I just can't get my head around it apparently.

sorry if this has been said elsewhere, but I'm a sporadic visitor...

Replaying the first games with DA2 eyes.

I've just finished a run though of Origins as a mage (male elf) with the chantry weighing the mages down, as you go through the circle pre Duncan, joined in all the chantry bashing with Alistair, who delightedly gave me as a boon freedom of the Circle.

I'm now in Awakening, purely to see Anders from before DA2.
His complexity is all there, we're both bashing the chantry and going for freedom of mages, we'd hardly got going before his approval rating hit max. It's easy to see he's not a happy bunny, to see the torment of many mages weighing on his shoulders, and why he gets tormented enough to do what he did, whether it was Justice spurring him on or not.

There's some good character development in these games, stuff that draws you in like a book you read again and again throughout your life.

cracking writing, thank you Bioware

May contain SPOiLER if you haven't finish the game...

I would just say that almost every party member have killed innocents...(think about it..) but it seams that we forgive them because it is part of the past...

On my first playthrough I was very upset with Anders at the end, but thinking about it and about wath all the others have done wrong before, I was like Hey!!!! This guy is strong! He is so angry about the templars/mages condition for years but keeps it cool anyway... and then he wants to HELP that spirit of justice that becomes corrupted thereafter and he is able to resist it for so many years....Furthermore he has HELPED so many people in Kirkwall without asking for anything in return...
I think in the end he is not worst then anybody else in our party...

(sorry for the poor English..hope it is clear enough)

SPOILERS

"Hawke: So you're not a murderer?

Zevran: Well, I wouldn't say that, but I'm going to safely assume that all of the people here could be given that title."

Something like that. Either way, I completely agree with you, Zev.

My reaction to Anders blowing up the Chantry.

"Anders: I destroyed the only chance of comprimise, because there is no compromise.

Me: Okay, so... I'm sorry, I just don't see how this helps anything. 'The Chantry isn't gonna help? LET'S BLOW IT UP!!!!'"

It just never made sense to me. I find the quest "Justice" awesome though, since Hawke unknowingly helps him collect the ingredients for gunpowder, which he uses to make the Chantry go boom. ^_^

I still love the first time I saw that, I was just like: O0O

love Anders? love the tortured souls romance?
I do, can't get enough of it.
I've just read The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. I know the Iliad and loved Patroclus, but it keeps making me think of DA2
