I just finished the game.
Imho the story is alright but there is little Dragon Age feeling and I don't like the new artwork. The whole city looks so lifeless and even the wilderness feels just empty. But maybe that's just me.
Most of the Quests feel unimportant and I didn't even bother to read most of the journal entries.
One thing I really don't like is that the fights are just pure chaos (and not the good kind of chaos). Too many weak enemies and the pace is just too fast.
And I really don't like how they recycled the levels. Other than that, and ignoring more bugs then a game should have, I liked it. It is still a pretty good game.
With all the build up from the seeker I expected something more, though.
So far disappointed...where is the feeling of being great?

I didnt feel that Hawke really impacted the story. What happened could have easily occurred without hawke ever existing.
The entire story of DA2 would never have happened without Hawke. Play it again and read the codexes and pay attention and you'll figure out why.
As it stands, Hawke unintentionally completely changed the world in his'her rise to power. Without Hawke, the Idol from the Deep Roads would never have gotten pulled out and sold to Meredith. Without Isabela stealing the book and giving Hawke a method of rising to Champion status. Without Champion status, he would not have had as much access to Orsino and Meredith to make a decent decision about the 'choice'. Without Hawke to check against Merediths insanity, the city would have eventually collapsed under the weight of her power.
Without Hawke, Kirkwall would be very, very different.
