[/conspiracy theory] Leliana was always a Seeker. She was fooling the Warden the entire time.

Don't you remember how in Origins she said something like: "Anyone can be fooled by the right person. The trick is becoming that person."

She was fooling you the whole time and was so sure of her disguise that she almost straight up told you that she was fooling you. [conspiracy theory]

Apparently my Warden/Queen of Ferelden never even disappeared. After meeting with Alistair, he ends the conversation by saying his wife is waiting for him, and he doesn't want to keep a woman who killed an Archdemon waiting.

And yes, Leliana is the Left Hand of the Divine, so basically the head of the Seekers (Chantry CIA), IIRC.

That was in year 7 of the story. Varric is being interogated 3 years after that so The Warden apparently has vanished during that time.

I find it funny that Nothing is stated about the Warden aside from Alistair and Teagan talking about him being back in Denerim at that point. Heck He did not walk into the creepy mirror with Morrigan. Plus he was shacking up with our favorite little red head. So I wonder what happened there.

In Awakening she gets summoned by the Revered Mother (told in her letter). In DA2 we find out that the Revered Mother from Leliana's Song is made Divine. Thus, I infer that she became a Seeker to support an old friend of hers who became Divine.

This is fiction, so any level of conspiracy is possible, but I would find it dramatically "cheap" myself if Leliana were to turn out to be nothing but a deep-cover agent all along.

For me, it would render a character with many interesting (often conflicting) aspects into a "one-note wonder". She would go from "Leliana who is X and Y and Z and more", to "Leliana The Spy". Dynamic to Static, you know? Complex to Simple.

I like the fact that most Dragon Age characters are more than one thing -- more than what they might appear at first glance. Even my own hero, as much as I might believe he is a certain kind of person, the game(s) often put him into situations which challenge who I think I he is ...

Not saying you're wrong, of course. Your opinions are yours, and you're entitled to them. I'm just hoping characters like Leliana don't lose their complexity just for the sake of a plot twist.

My opinions, anyway. Yours may vary, and that's cool.

So apparently Leliana or Nightengale is the right hand and second in command of the chantry and it's armies ...Thoughts on this?

Respectfully, I don't think Leliana is what you suggest. A piece of lore I found somewhere in the game mentioned that the Chantry has what amounts to "Internal Affairs" division cops -- agents who root out corruption among Templar and Chantry personnel -- agents even Templars fear.

I'm thinking Leliana and her partner were two of these -- trying to piece together just what the hell happened in Kirkwall.

Me? I told them it was all the Knight-Commander's fault (it was!), and then asked Leliana to marry me.

Cheers!

yes the Seekers are Exactally that and thats what Leilana is now at the end i think she was always just one of the seekers they probably all use Sister nightengale

I agree, she had a unique amulet called the seekers circle in DA:O. Coincedence? I think not.<_<

She is a divine agent of the Maker. She does not age.

LOL! I'm just kidding! It's a development oversight/something Bioware just decide not to do for whatever reason. Nobody in Hawke's party ages either.

I havent changed much in appearance over seven years(in real life) . Why would Leliana?

I just played through her cameo. I'm so disappointed. I romanced her, but I didn't get any "Dear to my heart," lines. :?

EDIT: The Seekers of Truth are what these "Internal Affairs" types are called. They're described in a lore entry titled Seekers of Truth, which is presented as a letter from an unnamed cleric. I have no memory of where I found this letter in-game. Sorry.

This letter can be found during Act One in the Gallows, up the stairs in the main courtyard.

The letter referenced above:

Ser Whitmore,

When I mentioned powers greater than the templars, I didn't mean the Chantry.  Sure they command the templars, but that was not always so - the Inquisition once hunted heretics and cultists as well as mages, and their reign of terror ended only with the inception of the Circle of Magi.  They became the Templar Order, for good or ill the watchers of the mages and the martial arm of the Chantry.

It was a mutually beneficial arrangement, but few know that the Chantry created yet another order to watch over the templars: the Seekers of Truth.  I know little of them myself, but I can say the following things with certainty: they serve the Divine and they are feared.  When a Seeker steps from the shadows, templars run for cover - because why would he come unless the templars somehow failed in their duties?  Seekers are extremely effective investigating abuses within the Cricle and hunting particularly evasive apostates.  It's said they are immune to a blood mage's control and possess the ability to read minds or erase memories, but this is likely exaggeration.

So we return to my original dilemma.  Who watches powers greater than that of the templars?  One assumes it's the Divine, but how much could She know about their activities when their very existence is a mystery to most?

--  A letter from an unknown priest, found in the Grand Cathedral archives, 8:80 Blessed.

So yeah, it seems as though Lelianna is indeed the left hand of the Divine at least according to IGN. It seems they reached most of the same conclusions I did. I vote Leilz as the new Divine. Especially if I am given the choice.

So you want Leliana to become the Divine just in time for the Chantry to disintegrate beneath her?

I doubt she's been a seeker since the time the Warden met her. When you took her on the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest, the spirit confronted her about her "unique" view of the Maker, which supports Leliana's story. I believe she became a Seeker sometime between Awakening and her cameo apperance, which gives her plenty of time to travel with the Warden until he/she disappears.

I find it quite interesting really, as my mage Warden and her are involved. I'm sure it could make for some awkward situations between them, or not at all. In my view, I can't see them breaking up over it. Add to the fact that my Warden's 2nd cousin (Hawke) is also a mage and you have for some interesting possibilities. Warden wants freedom for mages but isn't a hothead about it. On the downside, she did recruit Anders and Justice and look what they ended up doing...

I suspect Divines have to be celibate.  So no.

I want her to become the Divine, take control of the Chantry and turn it around into something good like it should have been in the first place, instead of a controling  and dicriminatory organization.

erm not really, looking at old photos of my friends we haven't changed all that much between 20 and 30., hell I even have the sam 'hair as long as it will grow' going on.

The thought she would still wear the same hairstyle is unsettling, though. Especially for an Orlaisian.

Realistically it's probably just so people wouldn't complain she was changed but yeah, that can work :>

Still, something like http://wolfofsahara....-Bard-149793697 would be cool...
