The Warden should come back in DA3

It's not like DA3 have to import if all of your bigger choices, if you decided to help the werewolves or the elves, or if you choose to support Bhelen or Harrowmont in Orzammar. He ended a blight in record time thats the big thing. As for example, in DA2 when Leliana did mention my warden as her loved one.
The rest should not be so hard. Sure you have to update your looks, but its not that hard to make him look like your Warden in DA:O. And I want the option to play as a different race than a human..

I agree! It would be really cool if they went back to the unvoiced hero and allowed you to import your Hawke as the first companion in DA3... Because:EDarkness wrote...
I don't know about anyone else, but I really enjoyed playing my Warden in Dragon Age 1. It's nice to have a character like Hawke and while he's pretty cool in his own right, I feel like it's time for my Warden to step in and put things right. I would love to see my Warden in the new system with a voice and the faster combat. I would even be fine reimagining what my Warden looked like as well as his voice as long as I could finish his story and ultimately be the mediating figure in the fight between the Templars and Mages. I don't want to see him go the way of Darth Revan in Knights of the Old Republic.
The way I always pictured the Warden was that he/she was a problem solver, and someone to turn to when no one else could get the job done. Not only that, but it seems to me he/she would be the best person to wrap up this situation with Flemeth, Morrigan, and the demon baby. Also, Anders and Justice were partly my Warden's responsibility and it seems fair that he/she step in and put things right again.
I like Hawke, too. He's cool, but ultimately, I'd really like to see the Warden return and be playable. It doesn't matter to me if Bioware has to retcon a couple of things. It's not like they haven't done that before.
I couldn't have said it better myself. I blame the shoddy disconnect between the dialogue wheel and what was spoken for evoking this feeling.Jackel159357 wrote...
Hawke felt too much like a
customizable companion to me. When i played the warden i felt much more
like he was my own character.
The Warden was me, as everyone's Warden is everyone, Hawke just wasn't personal.
Also: I think it'd be REALLY fun to go adventuring with my cousin! (I am a Human Mage warden... I even made him look almost exactly like me! *look at my avatar*)
Though it would suck if they restricted you on being allowed to import a MageWarden and a MageHawke... Like they did with Bethany and Carver....

Then there's the writing element. The amount of lines they must have to write already is vast, now they have to account for variables such as certain Warden origins being related to Hawke, some being Dwarven, some Dalish. Some people's Wardens are dead, so what then? New main character? Thats another entirely different set of events to write. Import the Warden-Commander from Awakening? Add +1 entire character background to the to-do list. And these variables will likely affect intereactions throughout the game not just at the start. Add voice acting to every one of these lines, or regress to a voiceless character again which will also annoy a lot of people (I know I at least greatly prefer voiced PCs).
So yeah, I think a brief cameo is the best y'all can realistically hope for. And even then you run the risk of NPC Warden acting nothing like how you played them in Origins.

The other thing is that if they chose a good voice, then I'm sure a lot of people would be happy. Hell, I'll be happy just to take my Warden into the next chapter. I'll admit, I would be a bit disappointed with a simple cameo, or if he got killed off behind the scenes. The way the story was built up in all of the expansions, it was pretty much hinted that the Warden would continue his journey into the unknown. From a story standpoint, it just makes sense that he finish all of this business with Flemeth, Morrigan, the Templars, mages, the demon baby, etc. I don't want to see what happened to Darth Revan happen to the Warden. Lots of people obviously enjoyed that character, and it wouldn't make much sense not to bring him back.
With the huge amount of work they did in Dragon Age: Origins and subsequent expansions, I have faith that the writers can make this work and do a good job of it. After the bruising they're taking over Dragon Age 2, I don't see how going back to the Warden would really be a bad thing. Whether he died or not doesn't matter. They can easily fix those kinds of issues from a story perspective.
Besides, after the years have passed and the origin stories are all done, whether the Warden is a dwarf, elf, or human doesn't matter much as far as dialog is concerned. Maybe some characters in the game would make a passing mention of it, but at this point in the story everyone knows his story, so there would be no reason to bring that up. Therefore dialogues would be maybe 95% the same regardless of race. The only real issue would be individual voices for each race and gender, but really, I don't think that matters either.

Even with changing his appearances, I felt I was watching a interactive short story. With my Warden, I felt like I was actually that guy & involved in a more bigger story.
Just my thoughts, I want my Warden(s) back & want to finish out the story properly. I want to see all the old crew back, I want them to be able to mingle with the new crew.
That is just me.

"Bloody nug-runners" people. my rogue Warden could kick any class Hawke up and down the back alleys of Lowtown, blindfolded, with his arms tied behind his back.
DAO to DA2 comparison:
Sten > Fenris
Leliana >>>>> Aveline
Zevran < Isabella
Morigan >>>>>>>>>>>> Merril
Ogren == Varric (i gotta admit BW really does a great job with these two guys, Ogren is a beast, and Varric makes pin-cushions out of baddies with Bianca)

Wynne << Bethany
Alistair > Carver
and finally
Warden >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hawke

I know the perfect voice to give to our Wardens to make it work with the dialogue system no matter what race or gender your Warden is.....................COMMANDER SHEPARD!
I think Commander Shepard would make a good dwarf.
That would rock!

That said, it would be surprising if something (either a DA2 expansion or DA3) didn't pick up where DA2 leaves off. Leliana's response to Cassandra's question suggests that they are going ahead with "the original plan", but it would be entirely in character for her to continue with the search alone. Perhaps that's what's signified when Cassandra passes her book to Leliana. It's pretty clear that the writers consider Leliana one of the most important characters in their narrative (Leliana's Song; her possible "resurrection" after the unfortunate incident with the urn), so it wouldn't be at all surprising to see some DLC telling the story of her search for Hawke and/or the Warden. Alternatively, the PC in DA3 might find himself working for Cassandra, Leliana or both. Meetings with the DA:O and DA2 protagonists could easily be worked into future content without cheapening the earlier experience or making them playable/recruitable.

I didn't mind moving from being a warden to being Hawke and if DA3 gives a new option I'm okay with that as well. Don't see how they could go back to the warden anyway...if they continue to move farther and farther into the future the short life span of the warden kinda puts a damper on bringing him back.
The "Air Quote" 10yrs(7yrs) "Air Quote", that we watch in DA2, only year and half, 2 tops was the time of the Warden. So according to Wardens, you usually get 30yrs out of it, before Taint gets you. Tack on the other 9yrs(6yrs) this story is going on, we still have at least 20yrs(23yrs) of the Warden's story(Those that didn't do ultimate sacrifice mind you).
Even then, Flemeth is quite powerful, I could see her raising those Wardens back from death, who knows maybe somewhere along the lines, we find a way to cure the taint in ourselves to live longer.
We don't know, that is up to writers at Bioware who are apparently being distracted by shiny objects & flashy fight scenes.
So we shall see.

Queen Elissa Therin-Cousland and Viscount Maric Hawke of Amell linage, busting some heads and chewing bubble gum. Whilst King Alistair pre-emptively strikes Orlais or defends attacks from Orlais and Merrill has some half elven children for Kirkwall's new dynasty whilst fire-balling Hawkes enemies

Kill them both for DA3. Their roles are finished.
Maybe we could play the Qunari invasion force, meet Hawke and the Warden on the battlefield (why, hello, Sten), and slice off their heads because the Qun demands it?
Bioware: Okay, now their stories are over.

In other words, why do you all want more of the same we have seen for years?
Also, what's the obsession with trilogies? I have seen it said many times by posters that DA is a trilogy or they want it to be a trilogy surrounding the Warden. Really?

I kind of think from a techincal aspect, it will have to be divided into trilogies. I say this cos of consoles. I doubt there will be more than one more DA for the 360 and ps3 - we're getting to the point where the next gen of consoles is gonna come soon. And importing saves from one system to another will be a headache, I'm sure.
So yea, I wouldn't be surprised if DA3 feels like the end of a trilogy, the end of where minor decisions can come back and be referrenced, and then the DA4 just has you pick one of a few big picture endings from the 3rd one.
