It has bothered me since DA:O...how come none of the major armor looks that great.  I mean, I guess the robes are all bad but whatever head gear the designers come up with are always so ridiculous looking.  The only saving grace of being a mage in DA:O was being an Arcane Warrior so you could wear the cool stuff, and the only saving grace in DAII is the fact that the champion armor, no matter what class you are, is worth looking like an idiot for the rest of the game.

Use the hide helmet option if u don't like the look of the helmets.

Options -> Interface -> Hide Helmet

I really like the Robes of the Notorious Pirate.
Image IPB

They're only about mid-level gear, though, so I edited them to bring them up to par with better robes that I'd found. And they have a rune slot.

lol varric you so short

Nice looking mage outfit.

Where do you edit the stats? No toolkit, can you do it permanently in the save-editor or something?

Get a GFF editor to edit your save. All I did was increase the item's level, which automatically scales up the rest of the stats (armor rating and any other bonuses) and also increases attribute requirements.

There's an actual item editing tutorial on Dragon Age Nexus somewhere.

I didn't like majority of the Warrior armor coloring. Black shirt, white armor and red sash. What they were thinking? The Armor of the Damned or what it was called? The dark blue armor. Looked a lot better in the demo of the game, because the leather parts weren't colored blue with that armor. Only good looking armors in the game were the Reinforced Mercenary armor and the Champion armor.

Armor of the fallen was quite nice looking as well imo, and the apostate robes were also cool, too bad after they were insufficient you'd be wearing mostly robes onwards..

That is incredibly lame...They recycled the Rogue's Enasalin Armor Set and used it for a mage? I love the game but things like this make it painfully obvious that the game was rushed.

Any more good-looking robes? I don't like the "happy" (if you get me) looking ones. :(

If there are any decent ones, I have yet to see them. I can't even continue playing my mage because I'm sick of wearing purple/white/etc dresses. The Champion Armor is incredible, why can't there be more non-dress robes that aren't a copy of another classes armor?

I'm looking at a topic, they state the Battlemage robes, the Heavy Velvet robes, the Pirate ones, and the Champion ones. Nothing about the way you can acquire them though, I'll keep on searching.

The pirate one looks better than the rogue.

Its pretty amusing that the majority of the robes look absolutely awful in being the stereotypical desk jockey mage.. Yet like 80% of all the staves you find seem to be part melee weapon and the default Hawke in the trailer who is a mage, is powerful enough to go into hand to hand combat with the Arishok.. I wouldn't even care if they recycled rogue armor.. (I am at least thankful that the armors in the game for rogue look good compared to the crap of DAO, where it seemed rogues and mages got shafted compared to warriors in graphics)...

We can only hope that a dedicated modder will go into and overhaul the robes.. I would love to see robes that actually look functional (ala Assassin's Creed) instead of dresses.

What is it with mages and robes, especially in Kirkwall? You'd think that if apostates (such as mage Hawke) were trying to hide from the Templars that they'd wear something else and use something other than staves. It kinda radiates "Hey! Ima MAGE!!!". Although the staffswords in DA2 are pretty F****** badass for a mage in any mythos.

Did you pallette swap it with the rogue armor too? Because it's all black in my game (360).

From what I remember, the Battlemage Armaments can be bought in Act 3.  I think I got them from the mage vendor at the gallows.  Next to the Herbalist.  I'm not 100% sure though.

Oops.  Missed that.

What do the Heavy Velvet Robes look like?  I didn't pick them up because "Heavy Velvet" is not my style.  Any pics of these?

Got ya, thanks. :)

One thing that has always bothered me in almost all RPG games:

There are no cool evil looking armors and robes.

I want a black armor that looks menacing, not these generic ones. The same goes for robes they are always silly looking. Also I hate that mages always get stuck with robes, especially since they come off as dresses or skirts and not robes.
Is it really that impossible for a mage to wear pants? The champions armor is decent looking, we want more of this type of armor.

Pants restrict a mages ability to uh...wear robes...
No, I agree though.  I support pants for mages!

Thought this might be appreciated?

(this one might temporarily replace Notorious Pirate one for me (Also quite funny, there's a staff named Mutiny at the same vendor)

In mine too, with blue stains or something on it.
