As well, the standard robes seem to be restrictive. I can't seriously imagine fighting in a long sleeve, neck to ankle dress. It totally seems ridiculous. I was in a fight in the Hanged Man and I was thinking, really, I'm in a bar fight in a dress?
Not to mention the fact that the long sack is less than attractive, either male or female.

That said, they did throw us a few very viable alternatives. I spent most of the game in Robe of the Notorious Pirate. Then at some point I looted something called Taaras-saar Iss...or something similar. Anyway, it's low on frills, but decidedly more badass than robes. I am rocking it right now with gloves and boots of the champion (haven't beaten the game, have yet to acquire the rest). Also, a previous poster mentioned the battlemage armaments. I decided not to go with that, but def a good option for the robe-haters. So the outlook is not so grim

I agree with the idea that wearing the robes screams "apostate". I like the robes better than DAO, and they aren't too shabby on lady Hawke (imo).

You mean Taaras-saar Eva?
Wiki says it can be found in Tal Vashoth Containers during Blackpowder promise, yet I haven't come across it... <_<

Also, my Robes of the Notorious Pirate had the "blue stains" as well. Kind of looked bugged to me, but still preferred it to traditional robes. Admittedly, Selena Hawke looked kind of butch in that getup, but she's romanced Merrillso what the heck...
Edit: I'm on 360
All black it still looked pretty cool.

It's a pretty huge departure from my female Hawke being almost built like Isabella to being worse than Merrill.
Edit: I do want to add that I was wondering why I was getting robes time after time. Give me a seamstress or tailor to go to in-game that can give me what I want with the defenses I need (it can be costly) and I'll be happy.

I just fired up the game to double-check. I actually did spell it correct after all. I think I found/looted it during the end of act 2 during the Qunari invasion. It's kind of a sleeveless leathery affair that is reminiscent of what you start out with.
Taaras-Saar Iss
181 armor
+40 mana/stamina
+850 fire resistance
req. 25 magic/willpower

Agreed. That's why I kept wearing even after I was picking up much better robes

I really, really, really....really (can't stress this enough) didn't like the Champion mage armor on my female Hawke. Everything else she wore made her look healthy while the Champion mage armor made her look like she rarely had a grain of bread nevermind a slice. I wish the art dept. or whoever has oversight of the art department would tell the artists to keep all clothing in line with what the character(s) looks like with clothes off.

I just got the Champion mage armor and I really like it. It's pretty kick ass. Though I did notice right off the bat that she seemed thinner in them.

On the consoles this isn't an option. The robes of the Notorious Pirate are one way to go, but I like them better on female characters than males. I get serious Jerry Seinfeld puffy shirt vibes from them otherwise. Taaras-Saar Iss looks just like the apostate robes you have during the prologue, which I actually liked, so this works. It's too bad the Battlemage Armaments come so late in the game, because at this point I'm wearing the Champ's armor.

What does those look like? (cooler then champs gloves? )

That must have been either a closed Master Chest, or a random loot... cause I'm pretty sure I looted everything (except for said master chests)..(OR a loot form one of the mobs if you don't solo duel the arishok ?)
(Too bad I missed it though )

I'm not for a simple reason, the Champ armor makes male hawk shrink, I tried comparing it between Notorious pirate, standard robes, armanents and the champ one... and it really seems as though my character has shrunk and looks really puny.. (which annoys the hell out of me cause I really like how it looks in the trailer >_>)
The Champion gloves and boots in combination with Robe of Notorious Pirate looks very awesome though in my opinion... I'm considering this my ''champion robe''... especially fitting in a romance with Isabella:innocent:
(Also on PC, the high def textures improves the look of the outfit TREMENDOUSLY,To the point of being ridiculous, looked really weird before it, Hawke being a blur and all...)

Ohh I wonder if I sold my Pirate Robes yet.... That might be fun to try. Tell you what, wearing an outfit like that, there's no mistaking Hawke for another soft Hightown noble... My Selena Hawke works hard for the money.

I know right^_^
Haven't found anything more interesting yet, decided not to purchase Battle armanents... maybe at some later point so I can bring it with me in further expansion IF I decide too...

The 'Heavy Velvet Robes' from Mage Goods in the Gallows during Act 2 are hideous, but they do have pants. They're like a mauve version of Apostate Robes but with sleeves.
I actually like those on my female Hawke. Didn't know the trick about using the editor to up the level so I always stuck with the pirate robes. I'll use them more often now.

The robes in that mod are pretty nice, if you're on PC. Better than most of what's found in the game. A bit overpowered, though ...

That looks seriously awesome. I've never modded saves and the explanation looks kind of skimpy to me, else I would've done it!

Thought this might be appreciated?
(this one might temporarily replace Notorious Pirate one for me (Also quite funny, there's a staff named Mutiny at the same vendor)
I like this one better than Pirate outfit or Champion Armor.
Reminds me Alistair in his Ostagar days.

Actually, you don't have to edit saves at all. Just make sure you keep a backup save before you do anything.
The only thing you need to do is download the files and put them in the folder (C:\\\\...\\Dragon Age 2\\addins\\) as explained, and the objects will pop up in your delivery chest. No savegame editing, no console codes or anything

If so not really liking it (runic armor does look interesting though), I must say that staff looks cool though... (I think it's from a certain mod for origins?)
