Which would u prefer?

I hope they bring back the option for picking multiple races in Dragon age 3... but if they do they'll probably have to resort back to dialogue tree instead of conversation wheel...

Which would u prefer... i'd be totally down with the tree as long as i can choose my race or get to play my Warden again.

however, chances are it'll be a conversation wheel... and we'll be forced to be a human again... as most rpg players are human.

I have no dislike for the wheel necessarily, I'd just prefer full text, ideally with a silent protagonist so we can have a wider array of choices and fewer resources wasted on the player VO. I have little interest in hearing the PC say the same thing I just selected, I'm interested in how the NPC reacts to what I had the PC say.

Wheel or Tree is cool with me, as long as we don't end up with a Mad Lib system.

I really liked the wheel, because it allowed for Hawke to have a personality that changed depending on what you pick. I'd like it, though, if they took this a step further: maybe by adding more options and taking account of the occasional different response. So, if I'm a Hawke who is sarcastic but will also be diplomatic, I get different reactions than a purely sarcastic Hawke would be. Et cetera.

That is to say, I like the current system, find it absolutely fascinating and I feel like it adds to replayability, but it'd be neat to have it go a few steps further until we have a character that is completely responsive based on how we act in the world, instead of how we "usually" act.

I, personally, have no interest in a silent protagonist. It breaks my immersion to have everyone else speaking, but I just have a line of text that is apparently telepathically communicated to the people around me and I prefer a fully voiced player character. I will gladly take the dialogue wheel over the tree any day.

Either will do me, but my character MUST speak. I absolutely hate non-talking characters. But I have to ask why do people automatically assume there will be a third game? Unless it's already been confirmed, then I'm sorry. I know it leaves you on a cliff-hanger, but I think that will be sorted within the DLC. I'd say it's 50 - 50 on wheather there will be a third game at the moment it could go either way. Although I hope there is a third game.

I really didn't like the paraphrasing dialogue wheel. It was more of picking what emotion to express rather than actually choosing what I say. And there were fewer choices of what I could say.

I agree. Don't go back to the dialogue tree, but expand the wheel to include more options than just good, sacastic and bad. And if they bring back being able to pick your race, (by the way I want a Qunari) then let each race, (male or female) be voiced.

Either one works for me. Wheel is more cinematic and gives you more realistic flow to the convo's, dialogue tree has more options. Either one works for me.

The wheel is fine as long as it includes an option to preview the exact line the character is going to say. I've had many facepalm moments with Hawke saying something quite different from what I expected. There was for example one time when my Hawke indicated she was very fond of the idea of going to a brothel, when I expected her to just tease a certain templar about his stammering when mentioning the place.

Also, I do not want the game to try to dictate the personality of my character, even if it is based on my previous choices. ALWAYS give me the the control of what my character says, unless it is a very neutral line. I do not want the game to RP my character for me.

And do not make my character automatically grin when being hit on by Isabela.

You still let the game dictate what your character says with the dialogue tree too. It's just typed down.

I didn't find the wheel confusing at all, I always knew what the character would say.

With the dictating, I was referring to the lines Hawke speaks automatically based on your prominent personality.

Ah yeah, those. True enough, but the system was well done. Didn't bother me. But I can see why it would bother others.

I hope they keep it as it is in DA2. Convo wheel & VO works gives a better feeling. If they include a bit more options, perhaps not 3 but 5-6 different answers, would be even better.

Wheel.

DA2's protagonist is vastly superior to the Warden. Why take a step back with our lead?

I prefer to be able to read the full line the hero is about to say. I don't like being surprised by the hero saying something that wasn't at all hinted at by the wheel.

Wheel or Tree, I want to see the full line of what he's going to say.

I do prefer Tree over Wheel but I think they can both be good if used correctly.

Yeah, but you still don't make your own dialogue. You still only say what BioWare writes for you, only now you can enjoy watching it.

I don't get the old school love of text boxes. Maybe one day I'll get old enough to hate change in games but right now it's easy to except.

Especially since ME has the greatest dialogue system out there. I was honestly disappointed when DA:O came out and didn't have a dialogue wheel or speaking PC. I thought that was the point of picking a voice at the beginning of the game.

:::shrugs:::

I like the dialogue wheel. It feels less video-gamey than a box and it's more expressive than ME1 and 2's since there's no light or dark side points in the game. You can switch from being a saint to an ass in a second.

Actually, I'd like a combination of both or an evolution of the tree. The tree was good, but being able to hear my character say it would be great. And when a choice is highlighted, we can see what the tone is gonna be like with the current wheel system. Best of both worlds. Heh, heh.

A "conversation wheel" is just a different way of displaying a conversation tree.

I preferred the wheel and voiced main character personally. I think text was ok when no one was voiced, but in DAO the conversations were one-sided, which felt a little off.

Thats not to say the wheel couldnt be improved. Personally I would like to see
- ME2 style interrupts, which increased your range of responses. Or unlockable responses based on your reputation. Both of these were absent from DA2, so there is already a model for improvement.
- a neutral/silent option. In DA2 sometimes I just wanted to shut up, or be guarded in my response and not give anything away, but you could only be virtuous, jokey or firm/aggressive. Maybe make the wheel slightly larger and have a neutral option in the centre of it?

I prefer the dialog tree. You had a better sense of what you were saying, stupid icons or not. At least in Mass Effect the upper right was good, bottom right was bad, upper left was special good and bottom right was special bad. Easy and effective.

As long as the evil response can actually be evil ill be ok. I felt like I was playing Fable 3. The evil responses just made you sound like a dick, no matter what kind of character you were trying to play.

In ME2 or in DA2?

Atleast in ME2 I can agree with that. Sheppard sounded like some pre-teen with too much power in his hands (not voice actorwise mind you).

A hybrid of the two. The wheel ain't bad, but it needs a lot of work.

After playing DA2 I think a voiced protagonist would be better
