I was just wondering how other people deal with them on hard modes (I'm still trying to get better at the game to do Nightmare).

I really hate their blood magic AOE spell, it hurts so bad.

They have quite a bit of health too.

So what do you all do to kick their asses? :)

Varric crashes their toes and while they gasp in pain I throw a well aimed peanut to their throat making them choke and drop dead- that shows them for wearing sandals.

But seriously what do you got? drop your burst damage and crowd-control abilities before they can use a defensive ability. Not sure about their resistances but they usually got low armor and are vulnerable to abilities. You can burn them pretty quick.

I beeline to kill all enemy mages on sight out of pure instinct because I remember how much of a bugger they were in DAO/A. Tossing a flask on them is good too if you are too far away to melee them to death.

I do miss Mana Clash though. That was such a sexy spell. High spellpower and Mana Clash could clear whole rooms of enemies if they were mages and fade demons. Worked great on tatics too for party mages.

Two mages with Dispel certainly helps on Nightmare.

you can dispel their blood magic, stun their pbaoe, move out of their ranged, they die first period, you dont give them corpses to feed on.

Ah I never really knew what Dispel could actually dispel, I'll get that spell definitely :D.

Petrify stops them if you cast it in time, as well.

Trick is really to crowd control them and kill them as the biggest priority targets. Goes for most Mages generally (Except apprentices). Once I didn't notice there was a Blood Mage and within 3 seconds my party was dead..

But reloading, petrify/horror + EVERYONE ATTACK THAT GUY took care of it.
Such a shame Mage-Hawke can't get that really great pool of blood they kill you with.
