I am in the same situation - slept with Isabella for fun, and no Fenris - Sex. He also didn't came back to my house. I saw some had that situation, that he left and came back for sex some nights later, but I did pretty many quests in the meantime and no Fenris :-(.

well, I end up replaying Act 2. I was careful, didn't even talk to Isabella, focus on Fenris and non-companion related quests.

So this is what's different from last time. Looks like if you sleep with Isabella or flirt with her, when you talk to Fenris at his Mansion about his escape, additional heart dialog option won't show at the end of the conversation. If at the end of the conversation only regular conversation option is available, Romance is cut off. There will be no more further development.

So make sure when you talk to him in his Mansion, there're additional heart dialog at the end (several of them actually). If there's no such option, you know you screw up.

If you flirt with him during his Act 2 mid quest conversation, and then do his personal quest the Bitter Pile to his satisfaction, He'll show up at Hawke estate, and there'll be a kiss/love scene. He'll run off. But if you pick him as your active party member next day, he'll wear a red ribben at his wrist and wearing Hawke family crest at his left hip.

I don't know if he'll show up later.... I have return to Hawke estate several times during night, he hasn't show up yet.

Hm, I had those heart-dialog options even after sleeping with Isabella. someone wrote it's fine as long as you don't tell her you have feelings for her. There are several comments in this forum and elsewhere by players that had Isabella for fun and Fenris seriously. In one guide they wrote, you shouldn't have sex or flirts with others, as it MIGHT make it problem. But it seems like noone knows what "might" triggers.

Sometimes Fenris glitches and you have to keep going home after a few missions in act 2 and eventually he'll come by.
I avoided the whole ordeal by waiting to do the Hadriana quest until he was 100%. Then we got it on when he talked to me about Hadriana rather than coming by later. And he glowed *beam*.

well, now I have to wait until he comes back. He did come back right?

I had the glow kiss and sex thing, and he stormed out, saying it's too quick and he can't or something like that. But he has his red ribben and crest, so that means the Romance is still on going right? I have kept going home at night and he hasn't show up yet. Just random NPCs come to check my dog....

What happens next? Fen's Romance is so much more complicated than Anders.

You have to wait until act 3. If you want Fenris back fast, do his mission first thing in act 3.
Mind you, there's nothing to acknowledge it much after that until endgame... so it's up to you if you want to wait a bit. I did it first thing act 3 and I'm a little sorry I did. It felt lonely for the entire act until I started changing my party make-up a lot and they started having banters with Merrill and Varric...

Yeah... I know what you mean.... The romance sequence in DA2 is far between, especially when you want to finish all the side quests in one act. I felt that when I romancing Anders, after the encounter, there's really NOTHING happened until the next event in next Act.

In DA1, at least you can always initiate a intimate moment with LI, so you know it's an ongoing relationship. With Anders, it's straight forward, so it's not that bad. But with Fen, he stormed out after sex saying it's too soon and stuff, I was like thinking...so....what's next? this is over or not? The game won't even allow me to ask his ribben and crest.

I guess I'll just have to wait, and use my imagination.

I slept with Isabella and did ask about feelings... I guess that's why Fenris stormed off after the Bitter Pill quest, saying it would be better for both of us if he did. No hanky panky or anything. This forum has been helpful, if not confusing. lol Looks like I'll have to wait till my third play-through for a romance with Fenris. :P

I'm a little upset that the game cuts you off from romance options if you're involved with someone else. DA:O didn't seem to unless you explicitly cut it off with someone. I'd rather chance being found out a cheater than be forced to be monogamous. I do that in real life. I want to have the chance to be a player. :P

Just to add: Pursuing the fling with Isabela DID affect my ability to romance Fenris. I imagine there's a way to get both, but here's what I just found.

By the beginning of Act II, I had already done the mission with Hadriana, and Hawke had been flirting with both Isabela and Fenris. I visited the Hawke estate, saw the fling with Isabela, visited Fenris, and had the dialog about his escape with no option for additional romantic comments at the end. I restarted a save just before visiting the Hawke estate, redid that dialog with Isabela but turning her down (with no loss of friendship, which I have nearly maxed out with her), went to Fenris, and had the extra romance dialog options.

So, in summary: You can probably get away with romancing both, but if you're dead set on Fenris, don't bother taking any chances with Isabela.

That happened to me too, I reloaded didnt flirt with Isabela and the other options came up, so it shows that you can;t either flirt with her or anyone else, if you want to pursue Fenris:huh:

I personally prefer how Mass Effect 2 or DA:O style, where if you romancing 2 NPC at the same time, at one point, they'll force you to make a choice. I remember romancing Thane and Taylor at the same time, romance won't move forward until I make a choice. This is a lot easier to manage, but I guess DA2's treatment is more realistic.

for me once I had sex with Fenris, romance options with Anders were cut off

I still had romance options with Anders and Anders tried to get me to dump Fenris in Act 3, but that didn't fly.

I have another issue~~~ some help needed please~~~

So after replaying Act 2 I finally get Fen to have the glowing wall kiss and angry sex and storming out after sex... all that. And he is wearing red ribben and family crest.

But during one banter between Anders and Fen, Anders said something like "I don't know what Hawke sees in you". And Fen end up saying "whatever it is, It's over".

Does it means the Romance is over? I mean..... when he stormed out, he did say something like it is too soon, and he can't blah blah blah....

I've never had a RPG romance that's so complicated like this.

I did a test on this.  After Fenris walked out, I rebounded with Anders.  During random dialog with Isabela, Anders, and Fenris, the convo went like:

Anders: You were an idiot for leaving Hawke.
Fenris: You didn't waste any time taking my place.
Anders: I love her.  Something you can't possibly know anything about.
Fenris: You don't know what you're talking about.
Isabela: Oh stop you two.  You're like two dogs fighting over a b* in heat.
Fenris: We were talking about Hawke, not you.

I proceeded to Act 3, no romance.

I reloaded and did not rebound with Anders after Fenris left.  The similar random dialog went like:

Anders: I don't know what she sees in you.
Fenris: It's done.
Anders: Oh that's good.  I'm glad she came to her senses.
Fenris: Leaving was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.
Isabela: Oh stop you two.  You're like two dogs fighting over a b* in heat.
Fenris: We were talking about Hawke, not you.

Act 3, romance is on!

So, strange as it seems, if he says leaving was hard, then option is still open in Act 3.  Just don't rebound with Anders or anyone else.  :P

From what I can tell, you can smooch anyone you want BEFORE you sleep with Fenris.  But no hanky with anyone else before or after.

[Edit] Sanitized spoilers.

That's because anders is desperate, and wants you. He's always wanted you. Hardcore.. he just doesn't tell you if you don't seem to take the hint -aka, don't flirt with him. He WILL yell at you about Fenris and you can start a relationship with him in act3 if you say Fenris left ;p

Because Fen's Romance is so complicated and subtle, I broke up with pretty much everyone in fear of messing up his romance. So... I didn't rebound with Anders, and I got the second banter option. That's what get me all scared and everything.

I did Anders personal quest in Act 2, but didn't flirt with him... I'm pretty harsh to him during the post quest talk... poor guy. The "trash trash keep trash trash" scene is really cute, it's like seeing the old sweet Anders again. I have to really force myself to be nasty with him.

But.... So... you're saying he'll come back in Act 3? that's nice... I'm almost done with Act 2, so we'll see. Man I hope Hawke can be more pro-active in romance, there's NOTHING I can do after the romance cut scenes. And listen to their banter is not helping at all.

Yeah it is pretty subtle.  Fenris is a very emotionally complicated character.  He's a kicked, mistreated wolf who needs time to reconcile his feelings for Hawke.  If Hawke screws around with someone else, he'll let her go because he won't try to wear his heart on his sleeve again.  He's endured enough emotional pain.  If Hawke remains faithful to Fenris, his feelings for Hawke will mature.  So he needs...errr...3 years.

*Says in her best girlfriend voice* Just give him some time, he'll come back to you!

I'm tempted to leave Isabela behind because after he breaks up, she starts flirting with him hardcore in random banter.  Grrr.  Something about his underclothes.  Back off, wench!  I'm Champion of Kirkwall, I can take her.

Fenris: Want to guess the color of my underclothes again?

Isabella: Yes sure, that's much more fun!

At that moment I said: you two do realize I'm like right here!

----

What really harsh for me is when mother died, Fen comes to comfort me. And I asked if it's my fault, and he said:" you're looking for forgiveness, and that's not something I can give". and he just left!!!

I'm like... can't you just sit with me and tell me everything is going to be fine?!

But I guess if he do that, he won't be Fen, and I won't like him all that much.

I really want to see the toolset and see what flags are borked, actually.

My current game I romanced Fen, and after he left in Act II I rebounded to Anders. HOWEVER, did you notice there's a "crossed fingers/lie" choice in the Andersex scene where you can tell him Fenris means nothing to you? I picked that one, then told Anders he couldn't move in. He got upset and angry about being used (understandably) and left.

I was curious to see if lying to Anders and having a fling with him without committing would affect the Fenris romance. When I reached Denarius last night there was no "You still have me" flirt option, so either I need higher friend/rival (it's not yet maxed) or that 'lie' icon has absolutely no point. :/ (Fenris still turned up at Hawke Estate after All That Remains, so I was hopeful the romance was still active...)

I'm going to guess that Fenris will not tolerate any hanky with anyone else, whether it was a one night stand or not.  I'm sure we can understand this from a real life perspective.  Like, you've known friends that have broken up with their partners, but still secretly hope they'll eventually end up together.  Then they slept with someone else while they were broken up, and it was over.  I think that's how it works with Fenris.  Anders is more sexually experienced/liberated.  He'll take you back.  Fenris won't.

The lie option is probably just a way for Hawke to say, "Thanks for the booty call".

If Fenris showed up, the romance should still be active, otherwise Avaline does.  It could be an approval thing.

I want a toolset as well.  I hope they release it!

He'll sit next to you, but he's still not terribly sensitive.  He doesn't know how to give emotional aid or comfort.  The most sensitive thing he does is know he should show up.

But give him a break.  In Act 3, if you're still in romance with him, he does say something much nicer about it.  I love his character because he is very self reflective.  I was surprised he mentioned mother's death in Act 3, 3 years later.  As though he'd been thinking about it, healed some of his issues, and felt his initial response was inadequate.  This is in a random party conversation, not a cut scene.

The lie option might also be affected by whether you are 'tough' Hawke or 'good' Hawke.  Like on my 'tough' Hawke playthrough, I could successfully lie and bully in certain circumstances.  'Good' Hawke was unconvincing when threatening and lying to people.

If you've been using mostly top dialog options, then you probably aren't a good liar, and Anders (and Fen?) can see through it.
