Let me just get this clear, when you have completed DA2.
There is absolutely no way to start a new game with your old charcater, you must create a new one?

You need to create new one. No replay with old character in this game.
You can continue game with resume game button after the ending but it is only for future dlc expansions. You can only move between your mansion and Emporium, no access to rest of the world.
