Just no. The DA2-weapons would be nice in a game such as Devil may Cry, but in a world that is supposedly "dark and gritty", these stupid flashy gigantic things just look stupid. And the speed with which they are swung? Again, just no.

There is one two-handed sword which looks semi-good, and it looks exactly the same in DAO.

... So where does realism fit exactly in "dark and gritty"... If we are going to talk about realism you should have started around the fact that there is demons, magic, elves etc etc and move your way down..  The combat is far more enjoyable to watch than DAO's by far..

So what? The fact that there are demons, magic and elves somehow makes humans able to carry swords that weigh at least half as much as they do, and wouldn't be practical to fight with in any way whatsoever? I never said that I was out for realism, either. Watch the Lord of the Rings, for example. Is it realistic? No. Do the weapons and armours sort of make sense? Definitely.

Then play Origins. Realistic? No. Make sense? Sort of. There are some ridiculous weapons and armours, but overall it looks good.

Dragon Age 2. Realistic? Considering that the people you kill have several times more blood than a regular human would, I'd have to say no. Make sense? Hayder's Razor. 'Nuff said.

So i am just laughing at the logic, that people crying about about realism.. When people are able to tear holes into reality for two gigantic arms to pull a guy apart.. It isn't that much stretch outside of that to have exaggerating the martial combat on top of that..

I absolutely adore people who come with silly arguments for the sake of being right.

Imagine swinging that zweihänder. Then look at how they use the two-handed weapons in DA2. That's problem one.

Problem two is the design of the weapons, not the size. Hayder's Razor, for example, is a large rectangle on a stick, with two additional sticks on the stick.

Yeah, silly my bad. Just 'cos things exist in real life doesn't mean they're realistic, noted.

The Razor IS stupid, but that's not the only weapon being discussed.

It's possible for the tip of the blade to break the sound barrier. The swing itself can be as fast as in DA2, if not the frequency. As you swing you pull your hand down the blade, using centrifugal force to exponentially increase speed and power.

Yes, the blades in DA2 are very broad compared to most real blades, but seriously... it's a fantasy game. Fan-ta-sy.

Next you'll be telling me that elven ears aren't really that long and mages can't cast that many spells at a time!

...or that mages have to re-mem their spells every single day after usage. *shudder*

Also, Hayden's Razor was the only weapon that looked like crap to me. Thank goodness it was DLC.

LOTR Games have the best armor and weapon designs in my opinion, The DLC weapons in DA2 especially the bows are just plain hideous
