Varric: Really, Hawke? Again?
Hawke: What? I think he has more to say...
Anders: Maker! You've had the exact same conversation with him for the last 8 times! Id rather argue with Fenris about mages vs slaves.
Hawke: But his VOICE! You know Anders, if you sounded like that... things would get veeery interesting between you and I.
Anders: ...Really?
Isabela: She'd Templar your little Mage...
Anders: O.O

I think honestly, they SHOULD give us Cullen as an LI BECAUSE of Sebastian. You mean I can't have the adorable templar OR the choir boy? Chaste marriage? Wth...

LOL!  I did the same thing.  Everytime I went to the Gallows I approached him.  So much so that when I let Anders go in one playthrough, and he walked down the stairs to kill me because I sided with the Templars, when he said "do you want a hug from the Knight Commander?"  I immediately thought he meant Cullen.  And I was like "how does he know?!" and "is the game keeping track of how many times I've talked to this guy?"  And then of course, I realized, he's talking about Meredith...Ha Ha

Do you guys think that maybe they gave Cullen such a role because... He's Wynne's son?

He's the son of Wynne and Greagoir. It's in his blood to love mages :D
It's just made me recall that conversation between the sarcastic Hawke and Merrill, how one day a templar and a mage will run from one side of Gallows to the other to embrace each other. Though they were speaking of Carver.

Do you think he really is Wynne's son? If so, he doesn't have a clue, does he? And neither does Wynne (or she doesn't seem to). There's possibly a very interesting story there.

@Danathyr, I thought so since Wynne mentioned that she had a boy and he was taken by priests. I'm not sure, though.
Then in the Darkspawn Chronicles he was with Wynne and Greagoir and I thought: "Aww, they are just like a family!" It was sweet. Until my ogre ate them all.
Still, if he Wynne's son, I'd pay for a DLC with their family reunion. Wynne was so sad when she was talking about her son. I think if it's Cullen, she would've been very proud of him in DAII.

@ I remember her talking about her son, but I thought they had had no contact since. But I suppose if it was Cullen, there was no reason for her to guess. The ages would be about right. I think of Wynne as being older (60s), and Cullen as being youngish in the mage origin (not much more than 20), but she could have had him in her 40s.

Didn't Gaider hint that the next DA book would be about Wynne's son?

I think it would be great if Cullen was a romance option for a mage Warden in DA3. Imagine that: you have a new hero, but you import your f!Amell save and in the end you'll meet a cameo of Cullen and your warden. Together!

As cool as that might be, it won't happen. Mage Warden is only one of six possible origins, cut that in half for female since Cullen isn't interested in male Surana/Amell and that's 1/12th of all DA:O players if all Origins were played exactly the same amount of times and players were spread between both genders equally (which they weren't). Then divide that by people who didn't romance Zevran or Alistair and... the number is miniscule. It's just not worth the work to implement something that practically no one will see.

I just kind of doubt we'll ever see Cullen and F!Amell or F!Surana together again, at least canonically. :(

You're right.  There's those who died at the archdemon as well.  I think it would be too small a group.   It's not as if there was even a proper romance in DA:O to build on (much as I would have liked there to be).   For a similar reason, I'd prefer if the conflict in the romance wasn't just about the PC being a mage.  It would be good to be able to play as any class.

There's also the fact that Cullen did resist F!Amell, and managed to avoid anything "inappropriate" even if he was tormented by his desires.   If young Cullen didn't crack, what would make our much more mature and confident version lose it?  It would have to be something more than just the reappearance of an old crush.    If there was a cameo of Cullen and the warden, I'd want to know all the back story!

Maybe the best thing would be if the romance was written for a new character, but with the possibility to import characters if desired, and for previous contact between them to be acknowledged.   I suppose it could be canon that Cullen was infatuated by a mage when at the Circle in the Ferelden, but the identity would only be acknowledged in imports.

@Surely, really? I didn't know. It's great that there'll be a new book! I'll adopt Cullen myself then :D
...
I wonder how old is he? He's obviously older than Alistair, because he's taken vows already. But he's never seen an abomination until Uldred (btw, funny that he makes a comment: "What if it's not obvious? Could abominations be walking among us right now?" - Hello, Wynne, Anders, Uldred and many-many others! I thought he was paranoid, but he was right.).
I thought he was 25-26 in Origins, but after seeing him in DAII I doubt it. He probably was younger. Or they used Leliana's botox on him too.

I thought he looked a lot older than he acted in DA:O. He probably seemed younger in personality because of his sheltered upbringing. I'd guess he was around 26-28 in DA:O, personally. That'd make him around 33-35 in the final battle, which seems about right to me.

I pegged him at 20.

That'd make him about 30/31 at the end of DAII. Which sounds about right to me. I think 33 at the most.
But really, I obsess about character's ages/heights/ect ect.... just because. :pinched:

In all honesty though, I imported a psycho mage apprentice killing Cullen and I half expected to find him in some sort of marsh in nothing but his underwear howling at the moon and living in a makeshift shelter made of twigs and mage robes.
Kinda just being "that guy" everybody tells you stories about but nobody ever really went to go find/couldn't find him.

I'll just shut up now. :wizard:

Not entirely out of the question, I suppose. He's definitely a near the top in terms of depth, as far as NPCs go.

I don't know what the plans are for DLC, but I don't see any specific obstacles from making him a companion if they do an Awakening-style expansion.

He did act very young in DA:O, although he didn't look young. But I thought that Alistair acted young as well, so it could be something to do with their shared background. What age would they start templar training? About 14?

I don't think he'd be offered Knight-Captain in his teens, but that's just a guess. It looks like he was chosen for his convictions rather than his maturity, so the appointment isn't much of a clue to his age.

I suppose he could be anywhere between about 18 and 28 (although I'm still struggling to imagine him anywhere close to 30) at the beginning, so from mid-20s to late 30s at the end. He does seem to be in his 30s by the end.

very well thought-out!!! I mean why of all the templars, did they have to bring him back? They could easily create a new character for his role in DA2 and people would not argue that he either supposed to gone mad/or be knight-commander. And best of all, he saves u in the end, no matter what... so there must be something big going for him...

n Wynne's is another character that seems to be the developers' favourite (she is the only one besides your warden to have a special skill) and appears in DAA no matter what...

and there may be a book on Wynne's son so it all adds up!

I'm not sure if I remember this correctly, but I believe Alistair said he was given to the chantry at the age of 10. He droped out of the training before his vow so I always pictured him at his early twenties in Origin. That would make Cullen a bit older, maybe 23 (?), because he completed his templar training and is obviously based at the circle for some time, at least several months.  Add ten years to this and Cullen would be around 33 at the end of DA 2. There is no proper proof for it, though.

His face looked older than his behavior and voice in DAO. I take he was at his early twenties at DAO too. And i also beleive that its not gonna be the end of him in the series.....i think we gonna see him again......either in a DLC or expansion or DA3...which would make me extremely happy :)))

i think he would fit as Night Commander jusr fine now that Meredith is gone. If only we could find a single sane mage to fill Orsino's place...then Kirkwall would at last find peace :)

And as much as i'd love to see him rejoin with my Amell i dont think it will happen...but i dont mind..i just want to have the option to romance him..with whatever char....

They have chosen to bring him back in DA2 and i dont think its a coincidence....they must have planned something for him...im sure of it :) My inner Cullen fangeek tells me thats the truth....
Right Bioware?
Right?

Good point. Also, I noticed, if you tell him that there are problems on both sides, and that we need to find a way to live peacefully together, Cullen says something like "Youre right, maybe if we educate mages on why the Chantry functions this way, they won't go against the will of Andraste. I will look into it." Then, by the end of the story, the circles are lost and even the templars are rebelling. What if his "looking into it" comes up later and he fixes everything and saves the world! Cullen might very well be in DA3, and he might be DA3's Alistair! Yay Cullen! Of course, this is all my mind wandering down forbidden corridors and wishing against wishes lol!

Ive also heard it speculated that Anders might be her son. What if...what if she actually had twins!! And Cullen and Anders are brothers! And they're on opposite sides of the holy war!! Ok...I'm done being crazy now. Its all under control.

Oh, and another aside...am I the only one who gets butterflies when I see this DA:O mod for a stolen kiss with Cullen? Sigh... I think we need one of those in DA2. Just sayin...

Oooh another vote for Cullen LI here! I was in pixel love with him in DAO so when I saw him in DA2 I pretty much squeed. Out of my chair. It was ridiculous. I was constantly praying that Bioware A. Wouldn't kill him, B. Wouldn't make me kill him, and C. Make him turn crazy again.

Man, all through the final conflict I was going, "I'd better not have to kill Cullen. PLEASE game, don't make me kill Cullen. Uh oh, now he's standing up to Meredith. Don't you dare, Meredith!" :P

In the final battle Cullen was the one hanging on Meredith's sword...twice... i was swearing lots seeing him like that..killing Meredith was a joy....second pt was Fen and i didnt have the same reaction..even tho i was romancing him and loved him....Cullen will always be my first and only love i think :)

Yeah me too... kinda weird tho... I wasn't upset to execute Anders (who was my LI) but I got really paranoid when Cullen stepped up and opposed Meredith... SHE BETTER NOT TOUCH HIM!!!! lol
Also I made Carver become a Templar just to find another excuse to run to the Gallows and talk to the Knight Captain... but it never comes up in conversation...:innocent:

Nope.....me too...Cullen's kiss is the most beautiful kiss i've seen so far in a game....even with all the other mods around

if you see my DAO album you will find all but 1 of my mages were with Cullen..and the only one that was not was due to the fact that i didnt know about the mods when i played her lol

And if we can post pics here of DAO Cullen as well....i'll be a very busy woman for a few days lol

Im trying to find the dialogue with the Warden, but I cant find it. But, after you have the convo, there is a dialogue between her and Alistair:

Alistair: So you... mentioned you had a son? What happened to him?
Wynne: I honestly don't know, Alistair. He was... taken from me. Such births are seldom, as there are ways to prevent it, but it does happen. And any child born to a Circle mage belongs to the Chantry.
Alistair: I... didn't know. I'm sorry.
Wynne: It's all right. It was a long time ago. A very long time ago.
Alistair: Couldn't you do something about it?
Wynne: Do what? I was weak from the birthing process and there were... no, there was nothing I could do.
Alistair: Do you think about him?
Wynne: All the time.[/list]
