What got me about Cullen was that I was expecting his polite, respectful demeanor to go out the window when he found out Hawke was an apostate. And then it didn't. And I realized I loved him.

I don't want him back though for this reason.

You realise that if they do, he'll have a different voice actor, act differently, look different and he'll blow up the circle ;)

Best to leave his memory untarnished.

That's what I was expecting with Cullen, too. That it didn't happen melted my heart as well.

They didn't change much of Cullen's look and certainly not his voice for DA2--they kept him quite faithful to the original. I don't see the problem with bringing him in for a probable expansion. I think it's a fantastic idea.

They're not allowed to dally
with mages, however.  I think someone in DA2 straight out says that.  I
just cannot see how a templar knight-commander and apostate mage could
ever work, no matter how awesomely awesome the apostate.  Especially with a war going on.

Pffft, a war going on. So they work to settle it all during the expansion and fall in love in the process. What could be better?

Rules were made to be broken. And besides, what better way to establish peace than a marriage or two? A very public marriage between a templar and a heroic mage beloved by the people of Kirkwall. It's obvious the natural order needs to change regardless.

Might be nice to see the Champion able to hook up with Cassandra, too, though I'm not sure if they'd do any of this stuff. We do already have a sort of surplus of romances. Still, it's not outside the realm of possibility.

A girl can dream. ;)

Greg Ellis did both voices in Origins
(which you probably know, apologies).  At first I was all "oh noes,
different VA for Anders" but after seeing how much of Cullen there is
and hearing those lovely tones again, I'm all "ooh Cullen.  That's much
better."

The ending of my run was so good I wanted it to keep
going - how many Templars can kneel to an apostate before she turns into
Andraste? ../../../images/forum/emoticons/joyful.png  Cullen is epic at the end..and all the way through.

*grins* I agree completely. On the voice and everything. I loved Adam Howden as Anders, I loved Greg Ellis as Cullen, and I loved playing a mage Hawke.

I feel a gag coming on.

A DLC has to appeal to all types.  There are only a limited number of players who want to marry Cullen to solve the Thedas mage problem.

Oh and is there a Cullen fan thread yet? I can't seem to find one.

I wouldn't say they kept him entirely faithful. I thought Cullen in DA:O was kind of a creeper at first and a full-blown psycho by the end. It's not that they kept him faithful, it's that they changed him in ways that were improvements. That's not always the case, as can be seen with Anders. I'd rather he not be back than have him changed to his detriment.

On a side note, since I just got this dialogue... I have to say I love that Cullen gives you condolences on Leandra, which even some of your companions didn't do. He really is a pretty great friend to you throughout the game, never guarded or standoffish like most templars. He speaks his mind, but he's never rude about it.

Dunno about fan thread, but he does have a group here - social.bioware.com/group/2944/

I agree with Addai, I don't think it'd work as a DLC, sadly, if only because not everyone likes Cullen. *The weirdos! :P* And if that's the only option for peace, to force either Hawke *or Bethany* to marry Cullen *or any other templar, really* that'd be... restrictive. Perfectly realistic - there are arranged marriages even now - but I reckon people would resent it. Probably Bioware could come up with another way to solve it, without annoying half the fanbase who just wanted to stick with their own romances or whatever *also is gay marriage allowed in Kirkwall? Otherwise what happens when Lord!Hawke is a mage?* =]

Although... maybe this idea could work... I dunno though. There might have to be a way around it, an alternative, like in Origins if Alistair didn't take the throne then Anora would. *shrug* It's too late for me to be thinking about ideas like this :D

I love Cullen - as long as they don't turn him into a raving lunatic, I say bring on the romance. Really, I found him to be the most reasonable character in DAO. He knows the destruction mages can bring, but he's not all like ,"RAWWWR, kill the mages".

You know if they bring him back, Bioware will indeed make him a raving lunatic. They are just too good at this. They will allow you to romance him and just as you start to feel really, really happy, he will go into lyrium withdrawal and go crazy. And you'll have to kill him. Like Anders.

I'm totally charmed by him. I would welcome an opportunity to flirt with him again...hopefully, he will be in future DLC or he will be missed.

I feel two ways about this. For one, I will love to have a Cullen LI. Ever since meeting him in the Circle Tower, I was hoping he would be romancable in the future. They guy practically admits to crushing on the Mage Warden and you could do nothing about it.

But for him to be a LI it would have to be in DA3 in which we would be likely playing someone else other than the Warden. I have a hard time seeing him with anyone other than my Mage Warden and not sure if I can play another character romancing him.

You know. Besides Anders, Cullen benefited GREATLY from coming over to DA2. All the other cameos are looking horrible but Cullen........looks really good....

When he said he couldn't go in to the Blooming Rose....and flustered....I was like LI please!!

Just thought of this actually. When we found him in the cage in DA:O, didn't he ask the warden to kill all mages in the tower since there is no way to make sure they are not possessed? and in the epilogue, it mentioned that he went berserk and killed some mages before he fled the chantry/circle/tower (i forgot which one), if you sided with the mages.

maybe there can be an DLC explaining how he snapped out of his breakdown and became the more sane, admirable, totally lovable version of him we see in DA2.

Aww, I know, it was so cute!  It reminded me of how he stammered when my Amell tried to seduce him.  So adorable.

I'm all for this as well. I liked Cullen in the first game since my first playthrough was as a mage! I was surprised by how excited I was to see him fighting on my side during the end battle in DA2.

I want Cullen's templar babies !! We will call them little smiters !! Change their holy diapers ! Ok I jest because he is a fictional character. But I have loved his character since DAO. I do hope they bring him in for my content . Either in DLC (with the same Voice Actor , Bioware , KTHXBAI) or in DA3. He is just RAWR !!! But then I am biased .

Since he's actually still sane and apparently recovered from the Circle Tower incident (and because my mage Warden kind of flirted with him)...I'll vote in favor of Cullen - hehe.

I got unnaturally wibbly when Cullen stood up for Hawke in the end.  I imagine Hawke's LI was jealous.

Cullen: ::draws sword:: ::looks manly and protective:: You'll have to go through me!
Hawke:  Mmmm.  So are you free after this?  Want to get a drink or something?
Cullen: Uh. What.
LI: Excuse me?!

Omg, Cullen's voice was such a breath of fresh air. I was like ANDERS!!!!! No, wait.. that's not Anders. Anders is the creepy dude that's obvisouly a nutjob that Hawke is too dense to do anything about now. NOOOO!!!!

Can we make this thread an official Cullen appreciation thread? I support more Cullen in DLCs, DA3, books, comics etc. I even support cookies which look like little sweet templars. :)

BTW, what exactly does he say about f!Amell? I've imported my Surana who did the US, but all I got from him was a line about Meredith not being fooled by a pretty face, but he said it even in my After-Cousland game. Ah, I wanted him to say something nice about the Hero of Ferelden. :(

Only if he's voiced by Greg Ellis.

I was so disappointed that Anders, once you have the chance to romance him, wasn't voiced by Greg.

I was intrigued with the possibilities he presented in DAO and even more so based on DA2.  Cullen all the way!

I doubt Cullen would be made romancable in a DLC or expansion. But I swear to the Maker, if he is NOT made a romancable in DA3, I will hurt someone.
