Thanks for sharing! Heading to finish reading now. (On family vacation so, sorry I've been absent! The internets are scarce...)   So far, totally enjoying it! Gah, what a great prompt. I could totally see that being one way Cullen of Awesome and Hawke hook up.

So... started a new DA:O Amell PT, complete with Cullen romance mod and...*swoon* Boy, funny seeing the differences, tho. That Cullen never really did it for me the first time around, as he was so awkward and ... running away, dammit! But, seeing his evolution into hunky Cullen of Awesome is cool. Even the voice is a little different. DA:O Cullen seems to be more like the Anders funny voice instead of DA2 smooth operator "Maker watch over you" C of A. Hmmm. fun.

OH, wow. As an aside, has everyone seen the announcement that Gaider is writing a DA2 novel? Apparently set in Year 8 -10 and explaining what happened with the Templars and Mages leaving the Chantry. It will feature Wynne, Wynne's son (some mage) and Shale. No mention of other specific DA2 chars, tho, except obliquely Varric and Cassandra. But, Templar story might mean...MORE CULLEN. Hmmm... given Gaider's comments in the past, that could be a  mixed blessing.

Yeah, dunno all he said is something about him being a long lost or estranged mage, so  that sounds to me like it's not Cullen. I've heard all sorts of theories about Wynne's son...but honestly have no idea what the canon is. In fact, did we even know she had a son? I've just read fanfic about Cullen being her son, which was sort of an interesting notion.

But, if we hear what happened when the Chantry-Mage war takes off, hopefully that will gives us some details about what happened to Cullen and the Kirkwall templars post-Act 3. He mentioned explicitly that it takes  place "now," specifically when Varric is being interrogated by Cassandra, but later mentioned that the story takes place eight years after the start of DA2. Of course, the story could also skip details about Kirkwall altogether to preserve individual players' outcomes.

Such births are seldom, as there are ways to prevent it, but it does
happen. And any child born to a Circle mage belongs to the Chantry.

    Wynne: It's all right. It was a long time ago. A very long time ago.

    Alistair: Couldn't you do something about it?

    Wynne: Do what? I was weak from the birthing process and there were... no, there was nothing I could do.

    Alistair: Do you think about him?

    Wynne: All the time.

I've also read the fanfics about Cullen
being Wynne's son (with speculation that Gregoir is the father) and I
liked them, so I was a bit disappointed when it was announced as being
Rhys.  Oh well!

I wouldn't mind seeing more Cullen, but the mage-templar conflict feels a bit petty in comparison to the Blight. :| I wanna unite the mages, templars, Fereldans, Kirkwallers, Orlesians and Morrigan's godbaby and make sure there can never be another Blight. That would be nice. 8D

I made it through the ST (and hated just about every character), but only through the first part of The Calling before I gave up. Different writing styles appeal to different people, I guess. I can't get enough of the game characters he has written though. -shrug- 'Tis a strange thing.

@ Galagraphia, you have taken Cullen love to a whole new level w/ Sims. Go you!

Teehee, poor flustered Cullen, gets me every time. 

I almost feel bad when siding with Orsino/being neutral in Act 3, because when you talk to Cullen, he looks so heartbroken that you don't have the templar's back. And then he asks "What would you have of me?" and Hawke's eyebrows start wagging and she's like "Heh heh heh."

I'll be seriously bummed out if he's not a potential LI in DA3.

Yeah, the Blight/Archdemons/Old God Baby are a bit more 'end o' the world' important, but I dunno, a Chantry-Mage War seems like a Big Damn Deal given the power and influence of the church in Thedas. With even the templars rebelled, it could be a world thrown into chaos...with former Knight-Captains named Cullen holed up somewhere protecting mages, or on the run themselves, or on the front lines of said War...?  I think it could be interesting...but then, Gaider could be writing the book so the War is resolved in time for DA3 to focus elsewhere.

But, hmm, now I'm worried that reading it might be slog... haven't read any of the other books, but sure enjoy his writing in the game.

LMAO, I'm currently considering doing to the same myself, with my new DA:O playthrough!  Heh heh, flustered Cullen is adorable, but sure love me some DA2 Cullen.

I really enjoyed both books, especially The Calling, and English is my second language, so when the book is boring, I usually give up on the first chapter   Besides, young Duncan was so adorable  Perhaps he had a mage baby too  (book spoiler)
