I didn't realize this was also a borrowed "feature" from ME. But, didn't I see new companion outfits as a ME2 DLC? Maybe we can still hope for that for DA2...altho, indeed, the barbie dressup feature  from DA:O for our companions is preferable. Of course, that would mean that they would actually have to make a naked model for Fenris, which apparently does not yet exist. But, I'm OK so long as we have templars...

I have to say, I really didn't miss Cullen's stuttering in DA2. I prefer it when he speaks eloquently.

@Bekkael, he actually stopped stuttering after Uldred's rebellion (and never did if you play m!Amell). When I talked to him later in game, he was alright. Wished me luck and said that Greagoir wants him to stay in the Tower and recover. He was super-adorable, because Greg Ellis did it with his adorable Anders v1.0 voice :3 He tempted me to make my Warden to return to the Tower, but I haven't finished that p/t yet. But I love how he starts stuttering sometimes when he talks about "young ladies", I think it's cute

Just popping in to say I totally support this!
I've loved him ever since I played the mage origin. I just wanted to huggle him <3
I'd want him for my Warden Amell though... which is the problem...
I'd need some convincing to pair Cullen up with another character - be it Hawke or someone completely new. They were just meant for eachother. 

I have to say though, if they bring him back for companion and LI in DA3, I hope he regains his stutter when you try to flirt with him. It was just about the cutest thing ever, and I miss it sometimes.

I thought Cullen was cute in the first game, but he didn't graduate to MANLY UNF! until DA2 for me. IDK, maybe it's so easy for me to write him with F!Hawke because my Amell fell in love with Alistair and they went off together to do Wardeny stuff. My Amell liked Cullen, but she was never in love with him, and in my F!Hawke/Cullen story, I portray him as having had a crush on Amell, but nothing more. Different strokes for different folks...:innocent: I know tons of people can't picture Cullen with anyone other than Amell. I'm in the sad minority pairing him with my Hawke.

As soon as my F!Hawke met Cullen, she said, "Well, hello there, Serah Templar!" :wub: Immediately followed by, "Anders who???  By the void!  Why can't I romance the sweet, gorgeous, wonderful templar, instead of the possessed mage?" *pout*   (Apparently, broody elves and chaste princes weren't her thing either.)

Galagraphia, I only recently played a M!Amell origin for my Anders fic research, and Cullen is a totally different experience when your character is male, isn't he? It was kind of weird because he was just normal when talking to my guy Amell, and I kept waiting for the blushing and stammering that never happened. Doh!

@Bekkael, I once read a fanfic where after f!Amell's Harrowing Irving told Cullen to carry her to the girls' dormitory. It was such a great idea, that I borrowed it for my story too. And it explains why he was stuttering. You see, the way Amell/Surana greets him implies that they know each other, but she asks: "Why do you stutter?" which means they talked before, but then he didn't stutter! Why did he start suddenly? Because last night he carried her, and he touched her and probably had a lot of thoughts he's now very ashamed of. So I think it was a temporal condition, because he was trying not to die out of embarrassment But it was cute. Of course, he probably won't be anymore. As he said himself, he was a naive boy, and after Uldred's treatment that boy is gone.

I adored that cute Cullen, but the way he changed I love too, because it's realistic.

I think that is probably a lot of what I like about this character is that he actually evolves and changes. You see the impact the Ferelden Tower fiasco had on him-- for better or worse depending on how that worked out, you see him grow up from DA:O to DA2, and you even see his DA2 views get more temperate if you talk him into be a bit more pro-mage.Many of the other companion characters are as static as their outfits (with obvious exceptions).

With the stuttering, personally it didn't really do it for me in DA:O (and like Bekkael, my wardens have all been ga ga over Alistair). But, I also figured it was a bit situational...poor sod, dealing with possibly having to kill his crush, around whom he can't string together a proper sentence. I prefer the "takin' care of business" Awesome-Cullen version in DA2, but also thought it was adorable that he fell back in to his stuttering when he talked about the Rose's "lovely ladies." Again having that continuity.

*gulp* I hope they don't use the notion that there are so many Amells out there in love Cullen to not include him as a possible future LI. *sigh* What a time for them to take note of the (often) female gamers. But, I suppose it could be written in such a way that you could choose against starting a romance with him if he waxes nostalgic about "knowing an Amell once." Something like that.

I have to admit I was a Cullen fangirl in the first game 
His story was just so sad. Starting out as an innocent Templar with a crush, tormented and turned against what he thought he loved the most. Becoming a mage-hating crazy.
I am so glad he sobered up in DA2. I couldn't stop smiling when he turned against Meredith for me 
But yeah... I suppose the main reason is because I never really connected with my Hawke like I did with my Warden. I think her voice grated on me a bit ..
I do think the fanbase for Hawke/Cullen is building though! Seems a lot of people are for it in this forum. I'm pretty sure the Warden isn't returning, so if Cullen appears as LI in DA3, I'm going to take him any way I can XD

Despite the fact he had about five minutes screentime in DA:O, he was still my favourite character/potential LI - after Alistair of course. 
Well.. he as well as Ser Gilmore and Ser Perth. Maybe I had a thing for gingers? (idk)
I really can't see any way the Warden will be returning in any significant capacity, so I'll gladly romance Cullen with anyone
It'll always be Cullen/Amell for the fanfics though

He is one of the few likable characters in the DA universe!

That's exactly why I don't read anyone else's Cullen stuff either, for right now. (except Stellasmooth's Gallows fic LOL) I just don't want how other people write Cullen, to influence how I see him.  When I go back to writing just Anders or Arishok, I will probably read more Cullen fic...

Well, one thing we have in common: nor Warden, neither Hawke will be main characters in DA3. So if Cullen will be a LI, he'll get a new girl. Maybe even a dwarven lady, because I heard  BioWare are going to bring origin stories back.
So for now I just keep spreading Cullen love, and my first little victory was my 2 pictures of him on BioWare stand at Comic Con!

@ Andromedaae - Weeell, mild stuttering compared w DA:O, but what I was referring to is here (around 5:10) after you've killed Wilmod. *sigh* Just so darn cute. Then, my Hawke is always mortified that most of her potential responses make her sound like a tart. *grr* what must Cullen think?!?

Galagraphia, you have every right to be proud, your work is amazing!

R2, I support what you  and Gala said, because IDC what PC I play either, so long as there is more Cullen.

I  think I finally figured out what my problem has always been regarding pairing him with my Amell- she'a a ticking timebomb, tainted Warden-woman.  Family happiness doesn't seem possible for her, and I want Cullen and his LI to have happy sunsets surrounded by sweet, untainted babies, and live to be very, very old. It's probably why I find it so much easier to write Hawke too, and why the Anders romance is completely and utterly FUBAR.

BioWare's love for visiting misery on most of their characters sometimes makes my teeth ache, and turns me into a raving revisionist.

If FIGWIT (the unnamed elf sitting in the Council, in Fellowship of the Ring) can have a huge fan following, and he didn't even speak until they brought him back and gave him a few lines in ROTK (just for the fangirls), why not Cullen? At least Cullen actually had lines from the very beginning LOL.

Egad, Cullen is on page two! Maker, nooooo! Well, playing Legacy, post-campaign, and Carver has some interesting things to say about being a templar. Sebastian says it's nice to have him along, calling him "sword of the Chantry," and Carver just shuts him down saying something like "You don't know anything about this life...neither did I." Interesting; many of his comments sound pretty anti-templar. But, he does have a bit of a come-to-Andraste talk with mage Hawke about "choosing" the templars. Esp. interesting since this was my "pro-templar" PT.

Hmmm, that's interesting to know, R2.

I took Warden!Carver, Varric and Anders (my LI). Warden!Carver was every kind of awesome, and so nice to my diplomatic/angelic Hawke (I got + 30 friendship with him during conversation. ). I totally wanted to give my brother a hug for not being a jerk anymore! It just seems his character is so nice and happy, having gone through all kinds of character growth since the beginning of the game. I salute the writers for that!!!

Anders as my LI gave me one, small squee moment with a comment he made to Varric during party banter, but I wanted MORE than that. SO. MUCH. MORE. Dammit, Anders!

On another note, sadly, there was no Cullen.

I need to try Legacy again with my mage-hating warrior and Fenris romance...except...I hate that character and all she stands for LOL. <_<

I desperately, desperately long for a full expansion.
