Never understood the fascination with Cullen. Don't want the zealot templar. I would much rather have seen Greg Ellis come back as Anders 2.0. If Anders had turned to Hawke after the bombing and said, "What? They took my cat," it would all have been better.

I think it's definitely the "forbidden temptation" angle.  That's always fun, right?    And his crush on Amell/Surana added a really personal touch to the Mage Origin for me, so that gave him some brownie points.

I wasn't really a Cullen fan though until DA2, because he's NOT a zealot templar.  That was the surprising thing.  As soon as I heard he was in DA2, I thought "Oh lord, here we go... we're going to have to put him down like a mad dog for running around slaughtering mages".  And instead he turned out to be a perfectly sane, reasonable guy who will actually side with you in the end!

But yeah, I would still trade him for Greg Ellis as Anders 2.0.  ^_^

i was always a Cullen fan...i think i have more chars with him as a romance option than with all the others :)
So, YESSSSSSS....PLZZZZZZZ...give us Cullen :)

@Aris, I heard that for some reason his craziness has something to do with Anora being a queen. I only got this epilogue with my f!Amell who spared Loghain and gave freedom to mages. Than I got that crazy Cullen epilogue, cursed like a soldier, reloaded and asked for a Loghain statue instead of the mage boon. And got no crazy Cullen in the epilogue. Oh well, I just see how much Anders disapproves of me right now XD

I think he goes crazy when you give mages freedom as a boon.

There's a bug with the epilogue. If it's Alistair who gives you the boon it might never show up.

Good thing I never give mages the boon because I question Irving's competence.  But then, leave it to Orsino and Meredith to make Greagoir and Irving look stable.

I want Cullen in my next team, too.  Just... uh.... don't hit him with the tragedy stick.  PLEASE?

I vaguely remember way back when, the writer of Cullen said that he was written to be a little creepy, and was surprised to see what a popular character he had become. I guess they went with what the fans wanted with his slight retcon.

I never picked the "free the mages" boon either, but it's because my Amell was painfully selfish.  Make herself Chancellor and become basically the most powerful person in Ferelden (since Alistair was wrapped around her finger), or free the mages?  Yeah, she definitely went with Chancellor.

That may or may not have been one of Moira Surana's motives.   She will never admit to it. ;)

Anybody else have a hold-your-breath, "OH, MAKER THEY'RE GOING TO KILL HIM IN A BLEEPING CUTSCENE!!" moment when he stands up to Meredith in the end?

I did. And I also was frighted when he was kicking his recruit and the boy summoned half of Fade's population. I thought: "Please don't be second ser Otto!!! :o" And then: "Please don't attack me!" And then: "Please don't ask me to kill Anders!" I was so relieved that he was such a nice templar and didn't use his magnificent voice and cute smile to manipulate me.

Have you noticed how every LI seems to be pretty messed up? Anders is mentally unstable, Fenris is loathing personified, Isabela is a pirate tramp that will sleep with anyone, and Merrill is possessed with blood magic and a mirror. I can only imagine what they would do to Cullen if he became a LI.

As long as bioware doesn't make him into LOLtheprize I am fine with it... I would rather have the opportunity than not.

I have been thinking the same thing, they shouldnt always make them crazy or tragic. I think they were not too bad in DAO. Zevran had a hard past but was very humerous about it, Alistair was very sweet.

In DA2 it was a bit over the top for my taste. The cute female was a naive blood mage, the other a tramp. Anders was just the most tragic of them all. Fenris needs anger managment and therapy.

If they do bring Cullen back, prefrable in DA3, not a DLC, I hope they dont do an Anders on his personality. He has improved with age, lets hope they dont regress him backwards to insane again.

Can we make this thread an official Cullen appreciation thread? I support more Cullen in DLCs, DA3, books, comics etc. I even support cookies which look like little sweet templars. :)

 :(

I think we should. Anyone have any good screenshots of him?

Cullen: Look at this... sneaking into the apprentices' quarters.  Heavy risk, but the PRIIIIIIIIZE

Now I recall an apprentice in the Tower saying that templars watch them when they bathe...

Amell: *sitting in a tub, covered in foam, singing something -- bathing*
Cullen: Ahem, just ignore me.
Amell: It could've been easier if you were silent.
Cullen: *blushes* I... apologise. Knight commander asked me, I would've never...
Amell: Wanna scratch my back? ;)
Cullen: MAKER'S MERCY, NO!!! Sit in that tub and don't even think of... Things. I'm watching you, mage!
Amell: *sigh* You're just no fun, Cullen. :(

Cullen seriously creeped me out in DA:O. My mage was not having any of it. And then she freed the Circle, and he went bonkers. Yay?

I know they retconned him a bit in DA2, but I'm ok with it since he's considerably less crazy and more reasonable, without losing his whole "mages are dangerous because Uldred was nuts" angle. I did STILL find it creepy that he still had a candle for my Amell after several years in Kirkwall while she was in Ferelden...but he was a lot cooler this time around.

His "I'm not gonna f--- with that" expression when Hawke kills Meredith is priceless.

I had a crush on Cullen in DA:O, had another crush on mature Cullen in DA2, and would love to see him as a love interest.  I don't want something nice and cosy, though.  It was the combination of passion and repression that I found alluring in DA:O and I'd like to see more of that. I'd love to see upright, moral Cullen fighting against his feelings, being forced to explore his darker side and being driven to do things he despises through desparate, obsessional love.

But a nice, cosy romance would be better than nothing!

Well, I did get the crazy Cullen ending and wanted to keep it, but never mind. +1 for Cullen as a love interest!

Cullen gives my Hawke naughty thoughts. When he offers to 'reward you' for saving Keran. All I could think was *eyebrow waggle* "Yes, reward me".

Poor Cullen, he has that affect on my mages.

I love the fact he is a bit older and more mature in this game. And the fact that his apperance hasnt changed to much, unlike the other characters.

Cullen struggling with his uptight morals would only really work with a mage though wouldnt it? Templars can have relationships, so if you were a rouge for example there is no reason he couldnt be with you. Not that I wouldtn love such a forbidden romance. And I always play a mage, so Cullen is tempting:devil: As long as they dont make him insane, or give him a fatal disease or something

He has a lyrium addiction. It will make him a drooling lunatic one day and missis Cullen will have to watch. :( This is sad. But, well, one day Alistair and Warden will go to the Deep Roads, Leliana will join Seekers, Zevran will become a crow hunter, Anders will bite off Hawke's head. It's better to enjoy the fun of romance than to think of grim future, I guess.
