Mirr. I much prefer Carver over Bethany though. Bethany just irritates me for some reason. I can't figure out why..
Well, I'll be leaving for college in the next few days. *sadface* I don't have my own xbox so no Dragon Age series for me, even though the games are mine. *facepalm* Such a fail. I have the games but no system. TwT

Vaeya, aw, maybe you will meet someone willing to share their system with you. Xbox systems are fairly common around college campuses, if I remember correctly.
Gala, speaking of youtube, my hubby sent me a link (knowing my love for Greg Ellis) and it was the Pirates video you made of him. I totally LOL'd.
Well, I've been working diligently on the next chapter of Twisted, and I'm up to thirteen pages. I think two more scenes (one of them pivotal) and I will be able to publish. It's been so bloody long since I updated, I'm quite nervous. Cullen is likely to come across as a bit of a jerk (maybe) and I really hope readers don't bail on me when I hit that point. The evolution of his character is a process...
Anyone have any good plans for the weekend? Mine consist of cleaning, laundry and writing! Exciting, eh? <_<

LOL I'll be doing the same! At least the writing part sounds exciting. Amazingly, my muse has been quite active of late... I'm utterly totally obsessed with writing my fic right now. Even if no one likes it or even reads it, I'm surprised that I'm just getting such a kick out of writing it.Anyone have any good plans for the weekend? Mine consist of cleaning, laundry and writing! Of course, as a result I'm constantly thinking in dialogue... she said, in some embarassment.
So, I ran across this for the first time today on the Sebastian thread: http://asktheknightcaptain.tumblr.com/ . I'm surprised I haven't seen it before so it may be old news, but I think it's pretty hilarious. There's a Sebastian one too, http://askchoirboy.tumblr.com/

Why the heck does Cullen insist on arresting a mage Hawke who sides with the mages?
True, he wasn't insisting and check the previous page if you want to read our thoughts about the "arrest the Champion" part.

Um.... The only thing I recall him saying that is when Meredith says that Hawke dies with the mages.
"I thought we intended to arrest the Champion."

I think Cullen compares this crisis with the one at Ferelden's tower, mainly. And that the situation there was worse compared to this. This situation was caused by an apostate mage who wasn't even part of the circle, and yet they are annulling the circle for his crimes. So perhaps Cullen feels it's not entirely justified, and when Meredith insists on killing Hawke too, that's the last straw and he finally says something about it.
That's my opinion, at least. :3
Edit: Plus, in the Ferelden Circle crisis, the Knight-Commander needed permission from the Divine to Annull the circle, and in this case, Meredith didn't get permission. If you side with the Templars, Cullen begins to say that but Meredith cuts him off.

Because Hawke isn't part of the Circle. Killing a mage in the Circle because of the RoA has been invoked, that's "fine" (depending on how you see it. I personally don't condone it). Killing a civilian because they decided to protect the mages in question? That's not right, and I'd like to think that Cullen is the kind of Templar who can separate duty and fanaticism a la Meredith and Alrik.

Then why does he go along with the Annulment anyway? Especially since Meredith says that Hawke will share the Circle's fate in the Gallows, before the Orsino battle.@Xilizhra- Oh, I see what you're asking. My thoughts on the matter is that because Hawke is the Champion of Kirkwall, meaning he has helped save the city and innocent lives. Even being an apostate, that means something. And you did help Cullen quite a few times, so I think he personally feels it would be wrong to kill Hawke.

"I thought we intended to arrest the Champion."
That tells me that Meredith probably made up some petty lie to Cullen about the Champion? And why wouldn't he go along with the Annulment? He's a Templar, he does his duty.

See Best Served Cold. Not all templars will follow Meredith off her cliff; duty alone isn't an excuse.

If Cullen made a mistake it was waiting too long to unseat Meredith before the Rite was invoked. Once she did invoke it the fighting started and many of the mages began using blood magic and Cullen probably felt the had to go along at that point. It was never made clear if Cullen slayed any mages who offered to surrender but I hope he did not. I know Hawke had the option to accept their surrender.
I do not believe that the Rite says a Templar HAS to kill all the mages just that the Templar is "justified" in executing them without trial so maybe Cullen was doing what my Hawke was trying to do. She took part in the Rite to make sure the mages Meredith would execute had a chance to surrender.

I think I mage would be very lucky if they got a trial. If you decide to side with the Templars in DAO, Irving (if he is alive) and the survivng mages are sent of for brutal interrogations. No trials. The Rite of Annulment is to kill every mage in the specific Circle, without trial. The only thing a Knight-Commander needs in order to proceed with it, is the approval of a Grand Cleric.
