I think his angst about the Templar Order alone would make for great LI drama. No matter how the whole mage-templar war goes down, it's bound to be different once the dust settles. Esp if there's the rumored exalted march coming.

EDIT: Or, I just had a horrible thought. Could he be *gasp* too old for DA3...? Maker noooooo!

Well, first off I think it's about time we a got a little more "mature" LI. I would have been all over Teagan!

I agree about Cullen being great choice to create some LI drama in the middle of the mage/templar war. It's not out of the realm of possibilty that he could be promoted after the events in Kirkwall. It could be really interesting to find our next protagonist in a romance with a major player in the conflict. He could be our first non-companion LI.

Oooh, I like this idea.
Cullen: Hi honey, just blowing through town for a little nookie, then back to the front lines.
PC: But... aren't you going to run around town with me, you know, helping the helpless and doing mundane jobs for complete strangers?
Cullen: No, no, I've too many important things to do. One cannot be idle when changing the face of Thedas.
PC: ...
Cullen: Oh, don't worry, you'll get to do important things, too, once you reach, you know, level 26 or 27 or so.
PC: ...
Cullen: Yup, you complete me! :wub:Well, gotta go! ;)

As interesting as that concept is, I can't ever see BioWare doing it. Every LI in all of their games that I have played (DA, ME, JE....and I think KOTOR too) have always been companions. They seem to like to stick with their established formula. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for Cullen as a future LI, but I think it would only be possible as a companion.

Exactly. Long distance relationships suck. I want to click on my LI all the time and hear stuff like: "My love?" *insert swoon here*

I am sure Cullen will be LI in DA 3 because of

  • Pretty face.
  • Warrior class.
  • Sad past.
  • Tragic love
  • Chastity in 30 years.

Also, potential lyrium withdrawal. It gives Bioware the angst and tragedy they love so much.

@Bekkael. R2, and other readers... I finished the calendar fill. It's maybe rubbish, but it's done. Posted with beta-reading for now just that it can be up, but I'll post it to my FF, DA, and AO3 accounts later...

[ Rainfall ]

And I agree about the ability to speak to a companion/LI whenever we want...

Also, I support angst.

The Cullen remarks.  What would Cullen say when you clicked on him as a companion/LI?

Stage 1 - newly recruited - "Holy Maker how did I end up here?"

Stage 2 - developing friendship - "What would you have of me" (Stolen from Bioware because its great)

Stage 3 - flirting - "Embarrassed cough"

Stage 4  - post naughty stuff - "The Maker's going to strike me down."  next click  "giggle"

haha - that's why I put in the giggle - it seemed so out of character.

Plus, I'd pay good gold to hear Greg Ellis giggle.

It might have worked for DA:O Cullen. But like Sia mentions, older Cullen is just...

I think he's past blushing and giggling. Just my opinion though! :kissing:

Cullen is still so naive (at least about girl stuff) that stutter he makes when he talks about the umm...ladies... at the Rose makes me melt.

*Pic from Cmessaz's mod* featuring my more DA2ish Cullen. She restored some hidden/broken dialogue in the toolset but unfortunately he broke my Surana's heart. And Zev teasing her that SHE was the heartbreaker in the Circle *cries*

hehe.

Cullen should have sent Ser Emeric.  I saw him there drinking mead in the Rose before you meet up with him for the first of the White Lily Killer quest line.

In thinking about what I'd want him to say, my brain keeps going back to the old DA:O companion model. I keep hearing "Yes my love" and "Well, we're in camp..." "Fooled you did I...?" *big sigh* I sorta wish they'd go back to those slightly deeper conversations you could have either in camp or wherever.

But, hey, I'll take tickling wherever. Of course, I doubt Cullen would [any old place, that is]. I could see something like, "My dear, not in front of our friends!"  "I wish we had more time alone."  "You're right! We do need another bath.":whistle:

Yep, I'm pretty sure Cullen is not the publicly demostrative type....but my naughty Hawke totally is. She would kiss him in public just to see if she could make him blush. Heh.
