LOL. That just made my day *g*.Ashwraith wrote...
There's one problem with having Cullen as a romance option for Hawke.
And that is, dear sweet cousin Amell would chase her down, tear off her arms, and beat her to death with them.
Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating. A little.
So true. But he's always going to be Mage!Warden's Unfortunate Romantic Interest in my head; it would be weird to romance him as a completely different character.

He doesn't wuss out, he makes that choice no matter what, even if you side with the templars. He's grown up nicelyWulfram wrote...
I wouldn't mind Cullen coming back so Hawke could give him a punch. Massacring a bunch of innocent mages then wussing out when you meet the champion is not acceptable behaviour.
I totally agree! However, That doesn't mean I want their relationship doomed. Have you ever noticed the sexy build up of a lot of Bioware RPG's, just to feel kind of an anti-climax closer to the end? Like sleeping together in one cut scene is all that mattered and they can part ways later or break up...no, I want steam all the way to the end and it should take as much priority throughout as it does starting the chemistry in the beginning. Not to say I'm not grateful, Bioware has taken game relationships for women to levels never before seen and I'll always be thankful for that! I just wish we could have passion, furious AND tender passion (or cozy works too) from start to finish without "I don't know if this will work"... translation: wham bam thank you ma'am isn't cutting it for me. But on point, darker is better...not anders "I'll do this with or without you" but Cullen "I can't fight it, I have to have you regardless how wrong it is"...yum! Sounds like a romance novel, but most fantasy entertainment has elements like that for any audience.Danathyr wrote...
I had a crush on Cullen in DA:O, had another crush on mature Cullen in DA2, and would love to see him as a love interest. I don't want something nice and cosy, though. It was the combination of passion and repression that I found alluring in DA:O and I'd like to see more of that. I'd love to see upright, moral Cullen fighting against his feelings, being forced to explore his darker side and being driven to do things he despises through desparate, obsessional love.
But a nice, cosy romance would be better than nothing!

It's even worse than telling him and he does nothing.Galagraphia wrote...
So, you can tell Cullen about Anders and the Chantry and he'll do nothing? Well, they are from the same Circle, Cullen was a mage supporter once and he confronts Meridith in the end... I think, there's a plot! Cullen and Anders came from Ferelden and worked together all the time! O___o There are moments when Hawke talks to Cullen about mages and Anders tells Cullen: "We are not all like that!" So, Cullen knows that Anders is a mage but does nothing. I think there was a plan to make Cullen a Knight Commander of Kirkwall templars.
*Loghain mode off*
Gosh, this really feeds my inner paranoiac. It seems like they do work together and Cullen is lying to Hawke all along and only pretending that he's loyal to Meredith to stab her in the back when Anders will do his epic thing and Meredith will go crazy.Aris Ravenstar wrote...

You can inform Cullen that Anders is involved in a dangerous plot, and he will respond that he has already sent men to apprehend Anders and he can't find him, he's not in his clinic. So, if you take Anders to see him a second later and choose the same option, this time he's not so interested in apprehending him. For no reason.
It's a pointless option that does nothing and only makes Cullen, the templars and Hawke look incompetent. And, Anders isn't all that angry at you for trotting him into the Gallows and trying to get him arrested by his truest enemies either. It's a really dumb option.

Uh yeah, there's no way Cullen would do that in my opinion. I think the dialogue was just included so the player could feel like they're protesting even though it means absolutely nothing.Galagraphia wrote...

Though it's crazy and it's probably just a gameplay defect or something.

The one thing that worries me about Cullen being an LI.... Is that when he's making love to you, he'll imagine that you're Female Mage Amell, instead of your character. Unless, of course, your character is Female Mage Amell, then it won't be a problem.
Yeah, I kind of feel like he's a one-woman kind of guy, and that one woman is mage!Warden. But I'm sure they could write him convincingly moving on if they wanted to, and in a way it'd be sad for him to remain fixated on Amell/Surana since we have no idea what will happen to her in the few plays where she actually exists.namedforthemoon wrote...

Also, all this talk about Cullen makes me want to write fan fiction where Female Mage Amell comes to Kirkwall and meets up with Cullen... And I don't write fan fiction!

On a side note, how weird would it be for Cullen to be an LI in DA3 and use that old BW staple, "You remind me of a woman I once loved...".. And he's actually talking about one of your old characters for once instead of a dead NPC you'll never see?
My Amell never had feelings for him, she was in love with Jowan (picked the dialogue option in the origin) and then he got together with Lily, and then he betrayed her, and then he betrayed her again... And then she moved on and fell in love with Zevran. But if Zevran has been traipsing around Thedas flirting with Champions and killing Crows for six years, then I may have to imagine her ending up in Kirkwall, seeing Cullen and having one of those "Oh" moments where she realizes what was under her nose the whole time she was in the Circle.
