He doesn't wuss out, he makes that choice no matter what, even if you side with the templars. He's grown up nicely

When you side with the Templars, Meredith ordering the death of the Champion is crazy, and Cullen is correct to refuse to obey.  But when the Champion has is a dangerous apostate who has just killed a whole bunch of Templars, and you've just killed a bunch of people just for being mages, deciding that now is the time to start disobeying Meredith's orders makes no sense.  Unless he's afraid of the Champion.
Or secretly in love, I guess.

Cullen's char has evolved greatly from DAO, and mind you the span of 1 year... (less since after the blight im sure he was moved to kirkwall) if he is in a DLC it would be awesome, we'd have a templar tank other than aveline,


he also showed wisdom in that conversation in the gallows saying something about the apprentice magi image.

wasn't bann teagan the ladies man in DAO? so now its cullen...

I think it would be great if Cullen was a romance option for a mage Warden in DA3. Imagine that: you have a new hero, but you import your f!Amell save and in the end you'll meet a cameo of Cullen and your warden. Together! I would love it, because my favourite warden is still single and currently she's heading to Kirkwall to kidnap him and do some magic Or help him to defend the city. Because my Hawke sided with mages and Cullen's action may indeed rise the question about blood mages influencing the templars, so I expect an Exalted March.
Besides, I can't imagine Cullen with another woman but Amell (even my Suranas were kind of... too gentle for him, I have a feeling that he's more into strong women). Though now that my Bethany went to the Circle, I'm getting jealous, because somehow they look very similar and Cullen may fall for the little Hawke.

As cool as that might be, it won't happen. Mage Warden is only one of six possible origins, cut that in half for female since Cullen isn't interested in male Surana/Amell and that's 1/12th of all DA:O players if all Origins were played exactly the same amount of times and players were spread between both genders equally (which they weren't). Then divide that by people who didn't romance Zevran or Alistair and... the number is miniscule. It's just not worth the work to implement something that practically no one will see.

I just kind of doubt we'll ever see Cullen and F!Amell or F!Surana together again, at least canonically.

Then I'll just proceed with my comic. Though Cullen in DAII dispite being uber awesome is giving me so much trouble with the further plot.
Seriously though, if he rejected Amell/Surana despite all his feelings which he still has in DAII, why would he fall in love with another woman? He puts his duty so much above his personal interests, he's probably one of those people who don't have personal life at all.

If they want to make him an LI and there's enough interest, they'll find a way to make it work. I'm still not sure I want that to happen, personally.

I agree he seems far more interested in his duty than he would be in any potential relationship. But he rejected Surana/Amell for a number of reasons, chiefly among them being he was naive and followed rules without question. He's not that boy anymore, he's had more life experience and it's added to his confidence.

I can't see him staying in love with Amell. He was young and conflicted. He's done a lot of growing up since then. I can see him thinking fondly of her for the rest of his life, but moving on.

That was my scenario, and Cullen sided with me because he could see that Meredith was the greater danger. I also like to think that I influenced his opinion of mages.

Something that occurred to me was that some people might join the Templar Order to hide their magical abilities. Perhaps Cullen has an even darker secret than Lyrium addiction! I could see a provocative story about him battling a desire demon that wishes to possess him.

Oooh another vote for Cullen LI here! I was in pixel love with him in DAO so when I saw him in DA2 I pretty much squeed. Out of my chair. It was ridiculous. I was constantly praying that Bioware A. Wouldn't kill him, B. Wouldn't make me kill him, and C. Make him turn crazy again. Every time we went to the Gallows I clicked on him because as soon as he opened his mouth to speak I wanted to rip his templar armor off and run into a dark corner with him. The banter went like this:

Varric: Really, Hawke? Again?
Hawke: What? I think he has more to say...
Anders: Maker! You've had the exact same conversation with him for the last 8 times! Id rather argue with Fenris about mages vs slaves.
Hawke: But his VOICE! You know Anders, if you sounded like that... things would get veeery interesting between you and I.
Anders: ...Really?
Isabela: She'd Templar your little Mage...
Anders: O.O

I think honestly, they SHOULD give us Cullen as an LI BECAUSE of Sebastian. You mean I can't have the adorable templar OR the choir boy? Chaste marriage? Wth...

I've got a question: I don't think that it was mentioned in my Origin's epilogue slide that Cullen went crazy since I never asked for the circle's independence. If you've got crazy Cullen is there any reference to his action in DA 2?

Good question! I haven't played through with my Amell as the Hero. I'm actually debating that right now. I wonder if anything is different!

In the final battle Cullen was the one hanging on Meredith's sword...twice... i was swearing lots seeing him like that..killing Meredith was a joy....second pt was Fen and i didnt have the same reaction..even tho i was romancing him and loved him....Cullen will always be my first and only love i think

@Avayla, oh, I've watched it aeons ago, but was distracted by Vin Diesel and tricks ))) Was it that guy who was a cop? Now I imagine Cullen secretly infiltrating the mage underground and falling in love with an apostate girl... And attacking Meridith and covering Anders because of that.

@Selenora, in my case it was Zevran. Poor Zev, it wasn't even his battle. Cullen somehow was in full health in the end
