 Spoilers below.

I've been a bit all over the place with my review for this game. I started out with a solid 7 out of 10. I got to playing, and I elevated it to an 8 out of 10. Fun game. Then I got to the end. I took my time making my way to the end, starting different characters and switching back and forth. I finally finished one tonight.

Wow. Garbage ending. The generic epilogue was so...underwhelming. What about Gamlen and his daughter? What about Fenyriel? What about all the other people I helped along the way? More importantly: what about my companions? (Varric tells me they all headed for the hills, except Merill because I romanced her) Wow. Really? That's it? Apparently Bioware is so dependent on future DLC, that they couldn't be bothered with wrapping -anything- up. I have never felt this let down by a Bioware rpg. Sadly, I have zero interest in finishing my other characters now. Yes this is a "whine" post, because I'm so genuinely upset by this incredibly lazy ending to what was a great adventure. :(

I can't apparently edit my post so:

I know it may seem harsh to lower my review grade just because of the ending, but when you invest the -ridiculous- amount of time into this game, you want at least what we got from Dragon Age: Origins. Also: I made Bethany a warden. I added her to my party in the end. And I got nothing about her in the end. Garbage. Pure garbage. -sigh-

Yeah I'd say probably a solid 7. I had a lot of fun with it, and I'm playing it on my 3rd character out of 6 right now, but it definitely felt like a rushed mess, suffering from DLC syndrome.

The ending was great, I doubt Varric would even know what happened to every child you helped anyways. Read the letters, Feynriel went to Tevinter (If you let him go Dalish,) your cousin sends you a letter too.

They could have wrapped a bit more up, but ai don't want epilogue slides telling ke what happened to every second loser.

Numbers are always a bit odd to label a game. Still I'd say a 'bad' 81 or 82 of 100. I think most game magazines rated the game higher than it is. Which I don't really understand since the shortcommings are obvious. Especially compared to the predecessor or other Bioware games like ME2. Bad or low 80ies because 80ies means 'good' game for me. 70ies or 7/10 would mean average game, or bit better than average which is a bit too hard. But of course this is about personal opinion whatsoever.

I agree with rushed development though which could almost have broken the game altogether. Bioware/EA were gambling there and it could have went worse I think. I don't know if they were just lucky or worked extra shifts to get this game released in an at least acceptable fashion, but it is certainly not improving Bioware's reputation.

Im one that felt the same thing about the game. There's absolutely no change to the game whatever you do, only a few dialogues differences and that's it, it doesn't feel like a BioWare game at all.

(Spoilers): Bethany is gone after the Deeproads no matter what you do, Leandra dies no matter what you do, I believe you have to fight/kill Orsino and Merredith as well no matter what you do, and that's just to name a few. Plus what really let me down was the lack of NG+ leaving your character useless after you finish the game. They took some great things from ME2 but one of the most important in my opinion they didn't add, which is the option to finish side quests past the end of the main story. Now I had a locked map which not even the prince DLC worked, and if I wanted to play again I had to start a new character and lose my Warrior and all the time I've spent playing it(giving me the waste of time impression).

There's a lot of good things about this game, and I really feel bad having to say anything negative about it(specially because I absolutely love the previews BioWare games DA and ME series), but the things that's annoying me in this game, really annoy to a point that it kills all the good things the game has. I had BW in such a high level that I thought they were the devs that would never let me down, guess I was wrong...

Sounds pretty spot-on to me. In overall gaming experience I'd give it anywhere beetween a 7,5 and a 8. However, looking at it from a genre standpoint, it'd get a 6,5 or a 7 from me.

Damn. I'd like to see a game that gets a 10/10 from you.

I'd rate it at 6/10 just because I don''t like breaking it down with decimals :P Feels like another 6-8 months could have done wonders for the game. Allot of the mechanics I thought were very much improved, my favorite dialogue system they've had in any Bioware game yet. But traditional strengths of Bioware like fully fleshed out companions, truly consequential choices and a satisfying storyline were lacking in DA2.
