Merill. She's just stupid. I don't mean the naive part, I mean the whole stubborn "I can play with blood magic and it's fine and I don't understand why my own clan hates me" part.

Don't really hate any of them, but I did find Sebastien a bit unappealing. That's just hte way dlc characters tend to be, though, right?

Edit: *looks at above post*
O;

Yeah, this is not the thread for me.  Your post is as ignorant as you claim the best DA2 character to be.<_<

Bethany.... she was sooooooooooooooooo boring
Carver was an interesting B*tch
Anders TBH I thought was by far the most interesting character in dragon age 1 or 2
Merrill was really cute
Fenris was just a less important anders, sorta cool
Varric i flip floped alot on, decided he was pretty cool
Isabella, she was funny... thats it though
Aveline, she was ok.. she seemed very real and I like stylized characters

I don't hate any of them, but I find Merill is the one I leave out of everything and generally end up ignoring. I just find her a bit grating and not remotely attractive as a romance option (much as I love Eve Myles). But then, I never managed to get through a romance with Lelianna either... apparently I just don't go for "sweet".

Oh if only I could have romanced Aveline instead. She was just fabulous

Agreed.  To quote Donnic, I like a woman with "backbone" even for just a party member. The naive waif wasn't my thing.  I just left Merrill in the alienage, to play with sharp things.

Hee~ Some girls just like tough girls. Aveline was definitely 'tough'. Image IPB
Not everyone can be the rough and tumble type. Image IPB
I go either way for girly or aggressive.

My most hated companion was Carver.
It was sad to see that he was turning into another Gamblin, could tell that early on; made me sad.
Second most 'hated' if such a word could be truly used, would have been Fenris.
Varric was right on point when he kept teasing him about his brooding, it became old very fast.

I fell in love with her from her first line and first close up. "You will not have him!" [decapitation-slice] <3 RAWR! Gorgeously unique features; soft and feminite while also hard and angular at the same time. Muscled arms. And freckles! *Ahem* sorry, I'll stop now. (And to think I looked at her character design and wrote her off originally! For shame!)

Anyway, I totally agree about Carver. I haven't really worked up much in the way of like or hate for him... he's just *there*. And there's no way to sit him down and give him a good talking to, which is a bit rubbish.

I do have to disagree on Fenris. While at first I found him dull, I found his romance very satisfying and he really came into his own. Positive moments of swooning on my part in Act 3 :D

There!  Besides:

I have soft spot for Isabela
I like Aveline (my own guard captain  well... not my "own", but who knows, maybe I'll make a Hawke capable of assesinating her husband... again)

Fenris... he's ok, and that's pretty much all

I ended up perceving Varric as an "uncle" sort of guy (maybe it's  fault of my "cute, sunny, idon'tcarish trublemaker Hawke" yes, she's... adorable)

Merril is even less reasonable then everyone else and that's quiete a feat

And Sebastian... ah, these murderous thoughts...

Just to add one more thing to this discussion - I agree with whoever said Anders was by far the most interesting character DA:O or DA2.

Aside from Flemeth, I totally agree. I really hope to see more from him.

But that's slightly off-topic for this thread! So.... once again, boo Merill.

Sebastian is my least favorite of the bunch, possibly because I had different expectations than what he turned out to be. I found him very narrow-minded to the point of being difficult to accept as a believable character, and I'm often baffled by his friendship/rivalry shifts even after playing through the game a number of times. Plus, his behavior in the endgame, even with his grief taken into consideration, seems completely out of the blue.

Anders is a close second, not because of his choices or his writing, but because there's some combination of the whine in the VA's tone and the expressions Anders makes that give me the urge to stuff him in a barrel and drop him off the nearest cliff.

I have to admit I would have liked to LI her as well for the aggressive type. She really seemed devoted and I like that. She was also pretty but not in a girly way, which added to her charm. Girls with muscle can be sexi too! Image IPB

I think it would have been nice to be able to actually talk to Carver kun, but it seems that he was obedient in following his older nee-san but would could never really get along with her completely. He never felt part of the family and blamed her for Beth chan's death. Made me very sad, as I took the blame for not being able to save her, which he seemed to be shocked that I actually agreed to. I understand his want to look forward, but would have been nice to help him through his troubles so he didn't end up following Gamblin's type. Image IPB

Fenris I cant say romantically, because I never could get myself to romance him.
Perchance there is something in the romance he shows as opposed to normal.
All I know is the first time I went to his mansion to 'talk' he tried 3 times to get into my panties, not very dashing. Image IPB

:P Oh boy! That never happened to me! (But then, I've yet to female-mance him so far.... maybe he's more reticent with the menfolk.)

Isabella. I still like her, just not as much as the others.

Oh and Sebastian was a little uninteresting for me.

Isabella-- because she reminded me of the shallow, two-faced girls who made my life hell through high school..I did actually enjoy turning her over to the qunari :) BUT I'm giving her another chance my next playthrough.. want to be open minded because people say she is funny and she might end up being interesting...
Of course, as I've said before, Bethany was as dull as dishwater and ranks a close second..
I loved Fenris because I identified with his bitterness, I hate to say.. wish I didn't.. don't like that quality in myself.

I hate them all equally so nobody feels left out, but seriously they were all well written and I can't say I "hate" any of them, though there are things I don't like.

I don't know... I don't think there was really enough in-depth character interactions in Dragon Age 2.. They were all very well written and some of them really had a deep impact with what little we got. But it's hard to pick someone to hate when there's so much background left in the dark.. So many questions unanswered..

So i will say... The one i connected with the least was Merrill... I didn't use her much in combat and she wasn't much of a "stand out" character to me, she just seemed to fade into the background.. So...

Not so much hate, more.... I dunno.. Indifference?
