Your Most Hated Companion

Sebastian. He needs to talk about something other than the Maker. He's the annoying Christian type. I would have liked him a lot better if he was a little more like our former Chantry Sister. She was knowledgeable and interesting. He is stupid and annoying.
Anders because he whines incessantly about the mage thing. I used to like him, but its all he talks about.
Still hate is a strong word, least favorite would be better.

Fen is easy to get to like you even as a mage.Nixter Shepard wrote...
I don't completely hate him, but Fenris really pisses me off. His character is completely unbalanced and uncomprehensable. Nothing I say or due changes the way he feels. Even when I agree with him I get rivalry points. I wasn't even that pro mage one playthrough and at times agreed that mages needed to be regulated and he still didn't like me. He is definatley the Sten of DA2, but at least you could befriend Sten and when you did you find he's pretty likeable. Fenris Ive given up on (for now atleast).
He responds well to joking the first time you talk to him at your house, pick the "that was a waste" option and nice responses then on. You need to take your time with him; use the investigate and chose nice responses. If you do it right you should get +20.
I've found that with Fen and Merrill, if you don't take your time and use the invetigate you will get rivalry points.
In Wayward son take him with you when you go talk to Danzig, let Fen do his magic fist thing to get him to talk then kill the whole lot afterward. You'll get blue for that.
You can also take him (alone if you don't want rival points from others) to the Gallows and talk to him about mages agree with him and get more blue points.
You can get blue from making Thrask pay you to keep his secret and FULLY agreeing with Cullen and the end of Enimies Among Us.
Telling the slavers he isn't a slave, letting him kill Hadriana, and giving the elf girl money in his quest will also give you blue.
If you are in the blue when you give him the book and the Sword of Mercy, he will accept them and you will get blue points.
With that being said, Fen rivialry isn't bad either (he's actually a better fighter if he doesn't like you). if you are 100% either way he will stay with you during the final battle no matter what side you chose, for those who think he is so "closed minded".

On the other hand I think the guys, who maybe wanted to romance a female npc, sort of got shafted too. I mean a sex-crazed thief and a loony Elven blood mage aren't my idea of great LIs either.

Not a huge Isabella fan, either.
But this is probably why I played the female Hawke with Fenris romance.

Carver was the most annoying in cutscenes.
Merril is my favorite companion.

Anders. I think this is partly disappointment over how much he's changed, since he seems to lack a great deal of the charm and humor the original Anders had, to the point that he doesn't even FEEL like Anders. And it felt like he had to make EVERYTHING about how awesome mages were and how bad templars were. Admittedly, I did have Fenris as a permanent companion (since he's my LI) and for some stupid reason Anders can NOT resist trying to change Fenris' mind about mages, but it was getting to the point where even my VERY pro-mage Hawke was THIS close to digging his eyes out just so he'd talk about something else.
Merrill, sort of. She's adorable and tends to wring a lot of "aww"s out of me, but she can get to be a bit much. Really, nobody is THAT much of a friggin' airhead.

Anders. I wasn't crazy about him in Awakenings, but I borderline hated him in DA2. It felt like his entire character consisted only of this mage obsession. He was judgmental and mean and no matter how hard I tried to feel bad for him, I just found myself missing the slightly cocky cat-loving Awakenings version of him.

^ that
I just find himself not even really carrying about Anders at all. I know I didn't list the Sebastian part. Just because I find him more tolerable to Anders. To be fair though besides Aveline, all the guys are the extremely judgemental ones. At least Varric is cool beans along with Izzy and Merrill. To a point why I tolerate Sebastian is the ones he really goes after are the other Judgemental people including Aveline. Could argue that he gives them what they deserve. Except when she Aveline goes after Varric early on. Keep off the coolness lady man hands.

Carver gained points. So now that makes the most disliked one being Anders.

Sebastian: I don't hate him, but he's far too religious for my tastes. A "chaste marriage"? Not in this lifetime.
To add a positive note to this, I love Isabela, Fenris, Aveline and Varric. I haven't decided yet whether I like or love Anders (I know I'm in the minority here

Fenris was unbearable. He thanked you maybe once. Twice? And yet you are mowing down all these people and such and he just storms away and talks about how he is alone. No thanks, don't want.
Also I went to give him his gift. I didn't want a romance so I chose the only 2 non-flirt options...
+15 Rivalry. WTF.
Aveline and Carver: Boring tools that just blurt out rubbish. Same old "I am a righteous warrior" gig.
Isabella: Thanks for telling me about the book right before the Qunari invaded and not 6 years earlier, you tart.
I liked all of the characters, but some just bothered me. Isabella was funny but stupid, Aveline and Carver were boring.
The only character I actually could not stand was Fenris. Ugh.

He just kept going on and on about how bad Hawke was for being a Mage and how he should die in a fire.. etc etc. All the while requiring my help and when doing so talking bad about Merrill... Ugh. I often wondered, "Fenris, just go away." to myself... Suffice to say, in the end I didn't go through any lengths to keep him on my side.

I wanted to kill Anders, Fenris and Isabella but, only got to kill Anders. Need to replay an ending to see if I can kill Fenris if I let him side with templars and support the mages...... Really want to kill Isabella and take her ship.
My first playthrough I did kill Fenris but on the second when I did the same thing, when he walked out with Merideth I asked him to join me and he did so he helped the mages at the end. Funny thing I was hoping he'd say no too. lol. Remember the sword that he wanted no part of? Grey Warden Carver was equipped with it so I was thinking it would be too funny for Carver to carve him up with that sword. But I thought I'd give him one last shot to save his ass. If you want to kill him do like you said but do NOT ask him to rejoin you is how you kill him.
Edit: And I hated the dialogue he used to rejoin too. It would have been so much better if you killed Anders that he ask about Anders missing and Hawke replied, "I killed that SOB!". Or Hawke uses one of the funniest lines by a NPC in the game, "I killed him. I hope the pigeons eat his flesh and **** him into the ocean." And then Fenris said, "Good enough." then rejoined.

Merril. I just don't feel compelled to learn anything about her from what I learned from not using her. Plus, I can't even imagine picking her as an LI because she looks 12...
.
This is mainly why I didn't sleep with her...well that and that I roleplay elf haters except when I play human hater elves.
As for hate hate I don't really hate any of the companions. Sebastian seems to be a quite nice fellow, Aveline was a bit too childish and broke my suspension of disbelief for a bit, but her banters with Isabela are funny...
Fenris was quite Emo and Ander raped my player character XD well I reloaded and told him to shove off after realisation teasing terrorist may be a bit worse than I thought.
Oh and Fenris is an elf, so Hawke Dissaproves (-9000)

In fact, aside from some good moments with other party members or cutscenes, I really don't care much for most of the companions. (varying from "meh" to disliked).
The only companions I do like are Varric, Aveline and Isabella. Varric, because well...he's the coolest character in the game who isn't Hawke.
Aveline has that big sis thing going which Hawke didn't get in game (since Bethany is her little sister) and I never got in real life. If I had a sis, I'd love her to be like Aveline.
Isabella, because she starts off as this shallow, sl*tty, selfish rogue and (if you get her friendship up) displays remarkable depths to her personality. This is especially apparent if you romance her. Even when she ran away and didn't come back with the book (my first playthrough) I I found it immensely amusing.
Note, I like Carver (with a male Hawke) mainly because I love watching the p*ssing matches between two brothers

If you're in rivalry with him he always does that, even on a romance. Aveline hates her gift, too. I think it's funny, but then I like it when the PC is not always golden perfect do-no-wrong.Taxistorm wrote...

Gifts are supposed to always push the meter farther down whatever path you're already on, unless they're bugged. Aveline's gift seems to give either friendship or rivalry depending on what conversation options you choose, in my experience.

BUT THEYRE BOTH HOT!...... for pixels... i would say Fenris, because he was good but everytime you brought him out his rivalry was bound to go up. He was difficult to deal with, so i left him alone in his mansion. I missed quite a few companions apparently.. who else was there?
