At least when i took morrigan along [ 3rd playthru] i started to understand and see her core character. I didnt always agree with her choices but i began to like the character. I just cant seem to find anything redeemable for Izzy. BLECH. I liked her way better in DAO she had a core of mystery and a dash of morals.

I have yet to play through the game with Carver though, so maybe I'll despise him (I doubt it though).

I think there are just enough Ser Pounce-a-lot references and silly Anders moments to prevent him being my least favourite companion in the end.

And I kinda wish they'd saved Seb's VA for a real LI because his voice is delicious.

1) Anders - goddammit so much! He's never enjoyable! In the party he ****es at everyone, and then he constantly mopey and boring. Then he pulls a McVeigh. Why couldn't he stay dead?
2) Templar Carver - Really dude? You hate your brother/sister that much?
3) Sebastian - Kinda sad he's this high up. You don't get him at all in Act 1, and then he's just this stick in the mud with Andraste on his crotch. Pity because even as a straight male I would totally love to have that voice around.
4) Fenris - He used to be right after Anders but at least his character grows a little. Too one sided and way too much of an Asian-style emo jerk. Leave those characters in Final Fantasy games. I play Western RPG for Western tropes.
5) Isabella - This is a problem with the writing more than anything else. Alright we get it, she's loose and easy, no need to shove it down our throats that she's the dirtiest sailor you'll ever meet. Jack Sparrow comes off as the pope next to her.
6) Aveline - Only because she's not a romance option. How is it the only level headed strong female isn't available for the hero?
7) Merrill & Bethany - Sometimes they're a little too sweet, but not liking either one basically just means you're a misanthrope.
8) Varric - Who doesn't want to have a drink with Varric?

Isabela-Super fun. People keep mentioning her STD scene but in my playthrough it was actually The Viscounts second in commad that has a cutscene with Anders about STD's, not Isabella. So, Hawke was safe, at least in that run through to pursue a relationship. I like her. But I also liked Morrigan.
Varric-My only complaint is that I didn't get enough interaction with him. He was awesome. I refuse to take him off my team...its really limiting my ability to change companion combinations lol.
Aveline-I WANT to like her. And she has her moments...usually brought out by Isabela. But then there were 2 random exchanges with Hawke, one right after I got her and Donnic together, where she just kinda yells at me (even though we have a high friendship). She's constantly degrading to Hawke/looking down on him. Which was irritating.
Carver-I liked him at first...but the amount of whining he can do is seriously impressive. I wanted a sarcastic option of asking him "This may sound strange comign from me, but do you ever think before you open your mouth?" He just whines and whines. Really? Do something if you're so miserable! Rejoin the smugglers or mercs or...take up banjo, i dunno.
Merrill-I love all of her companion dialogue, but her inability to see that the road to the Void is paved with good intentions made Hawke her instant rival. The devs did a good job wtih this though, because it really was a good example of how a rival relationship wasn't you being a bad friend, but trying to look out for her.
Anders-He didn't appriciate sarcastic Hawke...ever. Every sarcastic comment was met by anger. He ever challenged that Hawke's support of the mages ended with Talk. Just because I don't blow things up to make my point doesn't mean I don't act on it. Ugh. Infuriating hypocritical menace. And his outfit looked ridiculous...but all mage outfits do...
Sebastian-Good party banterer. I can respect a lot of what he believes "leading people to convert by example" was a nice/admirable bit. Less admirable was his wishy washy conviction. He really didn't know what he wanted. Not terribly irritating, but only because I feel like he played a minimal role overall.
So Anders? But I dislike him in a good way, because no person would ever like all these people in RL, so I feel like disliking the characters is actually a credit to the writers, not a discredit.

I don't like Anders, for instance. But he's utterly ruined, through making a decision to help someone he cared about. I just feel sorry for him. I hated stabbing him, even though I'm fairly sure even my Hawke would know that Justice won't let him STAY dead.
I also didn't like Isabella. But that's me, being all goody-goody, honestly. I figure people who use sex as she does are just using it to keep true intimacy at bay. They're afraid, I mean, of letting people get too close. Again, it's pretty sad and I feel sorry for her. I tend to think she's lonely. And I do appreciate her anti-slavery choices. Positive, that.
I guess, I just didn't hate any of the characters. I do have my faves, though.

Ander's... well I do kind of hate him, what an arse, but he's a great character and I find it really sad to see how he's been destroyed by justice
Merrill... she's comes across as foolish, However my rogue DW FHawke really hated her.
Fenris... no hate for him at all, just love. He has every reason to be ****ed up and angry.
Isabella... as with Fenris. In fact she's my favourite female game character ever.
Varric & Aveline - like

Mine was Anders. I was very angry when I executed that terrorist. I was surprised Meredith didn't slice his head off on the spot. It is him who certainly must pay for his crimes.
Although a case can be made for Fenris; I didn't even recruit him. Aveline is also annoying - she's at her best when she's being a warrior. I don't want to see her dorky personal problems, such weakness in a guard captain is unsettling. And her speeches were lame

My God! Someone who was interested in you gets upset when they find out you're not interested! How obscene! Not only is he a over sensitive queer(he get all upset when I told him I am straight),
If we're not interested, we also don't have time for their rants. Cuz we think they're gross
I never did get to reject Anders's advances as I sided with the Templars almost always which meant automatic rivalry, although now that I think about it free mages can't be all that bad if the Tevinters remain a powerful empire. If we look past the whole invading and destroying heaven thing of course, the Blight. And slavery. And the serial killers

While I don't and can't hate any of the companions, Fenris' brooding was a little too much for me and I found him to be annoying. "Oh, if you don't agree that your sister is a viper, I will hate you forever!"
i KNOW. It has been impossible for me on my second time through, as a pro-templar trying to protect my sister (aka my party mage), to try to romance Fenris and have an adequate party. You really can't go without the firepower that mages bring to the table, but if you befriend just ONE MAGE, you automatically have to defend the wizards. Maybe I'm just a noob, but it was way too hard to work out my party with an extremist, a blood mage, and the sister you've spent your life protecting to choose from for balance. Very frustrating.
As for my least favorite character? It's hard to say. I yelled "DAMMIT ANDERS" more than once, and yes, Fenris can be an ignorant ass. Honestly though, they both make some good points. It's Merrill who really grates on me. She's so arrogant and she doesn't even know it- this "it won't happen to me, I'm a Keeper, I'm special, I'm prepared" attitude is downright immature. You'd expect it from a thirteen year old from a small town, not a twentysomething who's traveled through Fereldan and Kirkwall. I don't think Merrill is evil. She's just bloody stupid.

Anders was my most hated companion by far. To me, he was the most high-handed hypocritical douche ever. The way he was towards Merrill was pissing me off and then when he tried to interfere in my romances I gave up on him even being a bit likable to me. He sunk to a new low when he tried to blackmail me into helping, when he wouldn't tell me what he was up to. Total Douchebaggery.
lol, totally agree with this assesment of Anders. Even when i killed him he acted like he was going to be some mayrtr, i really just wanted to tranquil him...that would have atleast gotten him to shut up and stop being annoying.

- Anders - So help me I will kill him next playthrough! He's not bad until the third act. Then he gets all %#!@ing preachy and starts pissing off everybody else in the group. It's BioWare's most heinous act against its own playerbase - putting the only decent healer NPC as the most annoying NPC to ever walk a digital earth. Everytime he talked to Merrill about Blood Magic I wanted to just smack him upside his head. Also, anytime he talked to Aveline, or Isabela, or Fenris... Jeebus man.
- Carver - I get it. He's jealous of Hawke. Boy needs to stop comparing himself. So mopey. Heck, I didn't take him to the Deep Roads just so I wouldn't have to hear all his whiny Second-Banana attitude. Of course, next playthrough, I actually like Bethany - and she dies of the Blight! SCREW YOU, BIOWARE.
- Merrill/Isabela - A tie for me. Merrill comes off as a little too naieve, and Isabela never lets up about how she's a ****. I get it, you have sex. A lot. With just about everything. However, both get points because both undergo some growth. I can't decide who grows more, but they're both monumentally more enjoyable through their romances and after the 2nd Act. However, the game is made exponentially more enjoyable if you keep both of them in your group. The naive elf paired with the village bike makes for a LOT of hilarious conversations - and Isabela's randy nature puts a smile on my face during quite a few cutscenes.
- Aveline - I think she's probably the closest thing to a real woman in any BioWare game made in the last 10 years. Very well done.
- Varric - Hey may not grow much as a character, but he's a great character to start with. Easily one of my favorite companions.
