I liked her at first but then she stabbed me in the back. I spent the rest of the game wishing she would come back so I could kill her.

Her model I can't even stand to look at and her personality is grating as well. I assume she is supposed to be the replacement "take charge, open with her sexuality" female for Morrigan and it just doesn't work. Giving her absurd proportions and having her chatter consist almost exclusively of veiled threats and sexual inneundo is a far cry from the interesting character that Morrigan was.

Isabela is a female version of Zevran, not Morrigan.

I don't hate any of the characters, though I think Aveline and Sebastian are both kind of boring. Aveline is a very likable character she just has nothing particularly interesting to add. Sebastian I am pretty meh about.

1) Isabela, Varric, Merrill, Carver
2) Bethany, Fenris, Aveline
3) Anders, Sebastian
Sebastian was cool, but didn't have much going for him that was very interesting. I found rivalry between him and my Hawke the best path as it spiced things up.

Indeed. Merrill is arguably closer to the Token Evil Teammate than Isabela. Granted, she's a complete subversion of the role as the token evil bit comes more from her questionable practices than from her personality and outlook of the world.
Though I could be the only one who views her like that.

In general, I like all of the characters. If I had to pick one to hate, though, it would probably be Sebastian. He and Anders are both preachy and narrow-minded, but Anders' well-meaning neediness kicked me straight in the sympathy gland. Which puts him at the top of my favorites list while Sebastian is relegated to the bottom.

It was unbelievably selfish of her to take the relic when there wasn't an option saying, "I can protect you from him."
There wasn't anything that she could do that any other rogue I had couldn't. And if I were a rogue, she would be obsolete.

Varric > Isabela > Carver > Merrill > Aveline > Sebastian > Bethany > Anders > Fenris
The difference between the first four is slight, and I really liked them a lot: They had personalities that shined and their dialogue was priceless. Aveline I didn't like at first, but then she grew on me when we got into her personal quests (I played the hell out of the demo, that might have done it too). Sebastian and Bethany I liked their character outline, and what happened with them over the game, but I felt like the characters were a bit muted when compared to the others (Sebastian being DLC I can forgive, but Bethany needed more motivation, I thought.)
Anders was interesting, but I found him so weird when compared to Awakenings Anders (I could forgive the part where he's technically not the same person, but it still felt weird), and Fenris I just found boring.

Carver, Fenris, merrill
Carver just annoys me, fenris complains too much, and my brother made me hate merrill by going to her 24/7 and forcing her to say "BY THE DREAD WOLF!"
The brother's simply a brat, and the elves are both gratuitous. I hate those 3.
I haven't played with Sebastian or Bethany yet.

Reverse situation with Anders. I romanced him in my first playthrough and my Hawke totally fell for him and ran off into the sunset with him. Second playthrough ... what a bare-faced liar! I now can't stand him in Act 3 knowing what he's plotting.
First playthrough I thought Isabela was a bit of a ****, especially running off and never returning. Loved her in my second playthrough! She returned and we became best buds ^^
Generally annoying character = Sebastian. I can't stand people harping on about religion so he lost me there and then telling me he's going to bring an army if I don't kill Anders? Screw you Seb, I'm going to let him live just because of that. The whole "I was once a naughty boy but now I'm all holy, you should be holy too [insert companion name here]" just made me want to smack him round the head. Stop trying to convert my party!
So my preferences changed somewhat, only Seb remained annoying ...
