Your Most Hated Companion

That being said I would have to say Merrill was my least favorite. She is just too naive, stupidly so. She was a very stereotypical dumb blond character. She makes you want to pat her on the head and say "oh honey."
This may just be me, but I consider the Keepers of the Dalish as being pretty intelligent and even wise people who are capable of leading. How in the world did Merrill become the Keeper's First? Is the only prerequisite for a First is the use of magic? She wasn't a bad character, and there are alot of people who like her. She is just my least favorite.

And while I like Isabella, I can't stand her comments during missions having to ALWAYS be sexual.

Surprisingly, of my three Hawkes (currently in the middle of a third Hawke) so far, none of them have hated their companions though if Vivanne Hawke ever sees Isabela again during any potential DLC's, she might want to watch out!
I enjoyed all of the characters immensely, but I'm easy to please, I suppose.

On the other hand, Isabela is at least an interesting character. The same can not be said for the poor fella who seems more of an after thought and added as DLC. I was really looking forward to helping Sebastian get revenge on those who murdered his family. The more I played and went out of my way to do the exiled prince's quests the less I cared. He just seemed to be there for that stuff, hell, I don't think he's even mandatory to take on his act II companion quest in the Harriman Estate. To top it off, near the end of the game, after Anders blows stuff up, his VA seemed to notice how unimportant his character really is. It just seemed like nobody really wanted to take the time to actually fit Sebastian into that scene so they made him get really angry and storm off to Starkhaven, with more vows of vengeance! At this point I was happy for him to go, I'll take Anders moping over Sebastian's... nothing anyday.

It's not just you. She's definitely
one of my favorite DA characters but they really overdid the comical
relief with her. One moment she's a deep character and then the next she
says or does something that makes her seem literally retarded.

Carver on the other hand just got on my nerves. No matter how nice I was to him all he did was **** and moan about how he feels lost in my shadow blah blah blah. He didn't actually turn out to be a decent brother till he returned at the end as a warden and stopped blaming me for him not being in the spotlight.
I honestly wish I could just have Bethany instead of him as a mage cause he's just meh to me.

Given that he does something so heinous, and lies to/betrays Hawke in doing it, the writers really didn't need to go so over the top with his personality change. In fact, I'd say that by making him the stereotype of a terrorist (moody, unstable, fanatical, paranoid, and just crazy in general), they gave players an easy out on some of the weightier themes of the game. ("Anders was a douche! Of course I sided with the templars and knifed his body until it was cold!")
I'm not saying everyone would change their POV if Anders had been more fun or likable, but as it is, they might as well have a neon sign over his head that reads, "Kill Me and Disregard What I'm Saying." In perusing threads about the templar/mage decision, most people side with the mages IN SPITE of Anders, and within the context of all the demonic craziness we see in Kirkwall, that's not a good thing, because it makes things sooooooo lopsided in favor of the templar position. (Et tu, Orsino?)
That being said, I've never been one who likes taking the obvious path, so I had my rogue romance him, side with the mages, and run off into the sunset with him.

I liked the arguements with Merril about blood magic. It did provide a nice counterpoint with her naively using something so dangerous. I haven't used Merril in my party much as 3 mages + 1 rogue seems to equal quick death for me.
Sebastion always seems like a poor second to Varric as an archer rogue, can't pick a lock to save his life and is just too damned preachy. It is a bit weird how hard he works to convert Fenris.
Didn't hate any of them like I did with Wynne in DA:O. Nosy old cow criticising my warden about Zevran

As for my least favorite, the mega broody, mage hating Fenris. I just love when someone in my party teases him.

I also found Anders and Fenris a bit annoying. Anders for being such an hypocritcial extremist, and Fenris for not being able to move past his blind hatrid for all mages (even after we killed Danarius).
I got along well with Aveline & Isabela. Isabela is a real dirty pirate, and Aveline was just a really good friend who just stuck by me no matter what I course of action I chose. The banter between Isabela & Aveline is so crass, it made me blush a lot. The banter between Merrill and Isabela just made me laugh a lot!

I don't see how Anders betrayed Hawke. Betrayal would mean he attacked you. Lied to and used Hawke, definitely but betrayed, not in my book. That being said, I'm fairly certain he wanted to limit your involvement so you wouldn't be subject to the fallout... as in, you wouldn't be a knowing accomplice in his attack.
I don't think Anders justification for not telling Hawke what he was doing, was to give Hawke plausible deniability. He even says he didn't tell him because Hawke would have felt, "honor bound" to try to stop him.
Whether or not, you feel betrayed by Anders may be determined by how you played Hawke. I was pro-mage, but constantly searched for a peaceful solution to any problem, almost to the point of neutrality. When Ander's did that, he destroyed any hopes of peace my character had been working towards, so I absolutely felt betrayed. In fact had I known I would get Bethany back as a playable character, I would have sent him away, rather than letting him fight with me, because I needed his buffs and heals.
