I'm just adding my support here. I think that a lot of people care about this and I really hope that Bioware will fix these encounters. They did a great job in including various scenarios, it is such a shame not being able to see them!

I was disappointed when Alistair didn't mention the warden (now I know why), but I would have been totally furious if he would have been sleeping around!

No kidding.  The way Alistair talked, it sounded like my warden was dead.  "This belonged to an old friend.  She would have wanted you to have it."

That's the same line I got!  He did give me The Sacred Heart amulet, but the dialogue I got was all wrong.  I wasn't sure what to make of it until I saw this thread.  Many thanks to ejoslin for clearing up the question that's been driving me crazy for over a week now!

Bioware, PLEASE fix this!  :crying:

I never thought I'd say this but...Thank God it's a bug. First time I did Murder of Crows and romanced Zev propositioned Hawke, almost had a heart attack *You lying cheating s***!!!*Image IPB
Still, knowing Zevran would act differently if in relationship with Warden but not getting the dialogue is pretty awful. Please Bioware fix the cameos. Image IPB

I'm glad it's a bug as well, though hopefully it's one that will be fixed.

So my Queen Cousland, who married Alistair because she LOVED HIM is forever going to get the "Old Ball-and-chain" line?:crying:

Looks like I'll just continue to import my dalish warden then.. at least he acknoledges her in a soft tone, even if its the dead line - rather then the still with him line. I can chalk it up to her having disapeared. *nod*:crying:

This is off topic, but I'm still rooting for a little Zevran pack similar to Witch Hunt where the romanced Zev warden gets to go take down (or take over, I'm flexible) the Crows with Zevran, post Awakening, after a few too many assassination attempts. Not practical, but fun. And Zev will always be my fav.

One of the defaults you can choose instead of importing is a Dalish that did the US. So it sounds like it's not even picking up on an actual Dalish import then?

Wow, I almost wish I hadn't found this thread. I assumed Alistair's dialogue in Act II and Zevran's, well . . . openness with Hawke was just the developers not wishing to spend resources to acknowledge an imported romance. Now that I know that it's just a bug, I feel both relieved and disappointed.

I assume that Bioware has moved onto the next big thing; the expansion, another sequel, DLC, and probably doesn't consider a fix for this bug a priority. I hope I'm wrong, but I assume the answer will be mods.

And that's not a bad thing, really; I'm improperly excited about the next leg of the Dragon Age journey. But I'd be lying if I said that I didn't dearly, dearly want a fix for this.

Where is everyone reading all of this information? What the dialogue should have been, the bugs for different imports, etc. I've checked all over and never seen it. Sorry if this is a silly question; I really did look before asking.

And as for the mod that's already out, it only fixes Leliana's dialogue, but not Alistair's or Zevran's, is that the word on the street?

If a toolset is released, it will get fixed for PC users.  It won't help console users, however.

Where I got the information... there is a file in DA2 called a talktable which lists all the dialog.  It's been decrypted, and the person who did so put up the tools to convert it to a text file, so I did so.  It's not that neatly laid out, but most lines are pretty apparent whom they belong to by their location.  Anyway, since I started with the actual da2 file, converted it on my machine, and read the dialogs myself, I'm the source of the information.  If anyone is interested in seeing the text file, let me know and I'll put it up on megaupload.

The mod that fixes the romance import bugs DOES fix Zevran and Alistair's romance status as well -- the issues with them, though, go beyond just the romance flags not getting set properly.  Honestly, if the mod fixed them, I probably wouldn't be yelling so much.

Thanks for the answers! :)

Yeah, I for one would love to read the source. Not that I don't believe you, I absolutely do; I just have a burning desire to see it all for myself.

Also, this makes so much more sense now that I know it's a bug. I thought it was funny that Alistair in my imorted game was calling my Warden an "old friend." If by "friend" he means "person I confessed my undying love to repeatedly and sometimes in public." ;)

Sure, it's np at all.  Since I'm the one who converted this copy, you have to trust my veracity anyway :)  Have fun reading it!  I put it up here.  I should warn you, it's the talktable, so many many spoilers (as in every spoiler in the game).

Thanks so much! I'll definitely take a look at it. And thanks for the spoiler warnings, though they're unnecessary; I'm finishing halfway through my fourth playthorugh. ^_^

Boy was I just really ticked off. I was waiting for the GW Alistair cameo and it ticked the crap out of me when he spoke as if my Dalish elf was dead and was just an old friend even though she was Warden Commander of Fereldon and she and Alistair stayed in the Grey Wardens together. It was stupid and I was like what the hell. But I can almost guarantee that Bioware isn't going to fix this. We will have to wait for the modding community to do it just like in Origins. Bioware should have taken their time with this game. It's ridiculous the amount of bugs that need to be fixed and we paid good money for it. I don't expect everything to be perfect, but I do expect Alistair to recognize that he's in a relationship with my Dalish elf but then again the keeper doesn't even recognize that one of her clan was the Hero of Fereldon.

Edited: Wow this: Maybe this might help? It belongs to the love of my life... but she seems to find stuff like this everywhere she goes.

is way different than this: Here, maybe this might help? It belonged to an old friend of mine... who doesn't need it anymore

Edit2: Tried the mod that fixes the problem and Alistair said 2 lines at the same time over top of each other.  Hmm.  Maybe I need to start a new game for it to work properly.

Probably it won't work, it's just that it is bugged, even with the right flags...

I'm nearing the end of the game, again, on xbox, but I'm tempted to stop before doing Zevran's quest my playthrough. I even got the Isabela bug from hours of gameplay I noticed.
I just would like to know if they are working to patch this too...

Fix it please! I was looking forward to seeing Zevran allude to his 'amora' (my elven mage) in some way, shape or form. Instead I get a line that hints that he thinks she's dead. And then he offers to sleep with Hawke and Isabela.

Please fix this, Bioware. Please.

I'm more curious than anything now if the devs are aware of this issue, and if so, if it's being worked on. I know other dialog bugs are being worked on -- it would be great if this one were as well.

If it is not going to be fixed, will a toolset be released so it can be fixed via mod?

Edit: Either works for me :)  Both would be amazing!

I really hope this is addressed in the upcoming patch. Already on the internet I'm seeing people wrongfully rage at that unfaithful Zevran! Breaks my heart, it does.

Yeah, it's hard enough as a Zevran fangirl to convince people he's awesome without these sorts of bugs undermining my "No, seriously, by the end he is utterly devoted to you!" arguments!

I agree. It's such a shame :( Zevran has a bad enough rep as it is; his romance is so good, it just deserves to be portrayed properly.

I didn't even realize it was a bug until I found this thread. I just thought that everything was written as it was (Zevran hitting on Hawke, Alistair calling the Warden an "old friend" . . .

I think I like it being a bug better; then at least there's the knowledge that it exists, and will possibly get fixed.

Speaking of strange bugs and LI...I just noticed something odd with Alistair codex entry. When I met him and Teagan, they clearly said that my Warden was in Denerim and Alistair answered, correctly, "He has a name, you know". My Warden was a male human mage that romanced Zevran all the way.
Then I went to check the codex entry...and it says that Alistair is married to the Hero of Ferelden, and she is a Grey Warden like him :°D

Tbh the Zevran flirt thing doesn't feel like that much of a deal -- in the sense it's rather plausible, given it's 5+ years since DAO + Awakening happen, and the Warden has apparently gone missing on top of that, going by the DA2 ending.

If anything it's more surprising that missing bit isn't acknowledged in married Alistair's cameo.

I disagree with this strongly.  In Zevran's love story, he changes and equates sex and love instead of it just being about pleasure.  He requires a commitment from the warden before he will have sex with him/her after he falls in love.  In his US slide, he can't bring himself to be with anyone again.

If you don't romance him, his cameo makes perfect sense.  But if you do, it's really jarring as there is no indication that he would change back to the way he was before he fell in love.  And this is reinforced by the lines in the talktable that were supposed to trigger but do not.

In fact, fixing the import flags, you at least have him rejecting Isabela (though thinking the warden was dead, and he still responds to Hawke's flirting which is is not supposed to do).  But that he does say to Isabela that the loss is still too fresh (6 years later) further reinforces that he changed -- sex is, for him, not just about pleasure.

Edit: The main point is, however, that his cameo, IF in love, he's supposed to be faithful to the warden.  These lines are not triggering.  It would be nice to have his story concluded the way it's meant to be concluded, and not messed up because of bugs.

Zevran not acknowledging his romance is JUST as disappointing to Zevran fans as Alistair's not acknowledging his is to his fans and Leliana to her fans.  Our romances all had a conclusion, and since obviously Zevran is meant to be faithful to the warden, it would be nice if the bugs were fixed so we actually get those lines.

The reason I think Zevran's lines are worse is you get to watch your warden's LI cheat.  Then again, I suppose having alistair just consider the warden a friend instead of his love would be upsetting.  I just don't see that as bad, but I'm not an Alistair fangirl so that could be it.

I'm not disputing that. Instead, i'm rather getting at possibility that given the passage of time and the extra circumstances revealed at the end of the game Zevran and the Warden perhaps simply aren't together anymore. Which would make Zevran about as unfaithful as Aveline is "unfaithful" to Wesley when she takes interest in Donnic, eventually.

It's mainly, the desire to still have the Warden's love interest to be "with them happily ever after" at this stage feels a bit fairytale-like, and as such just not fitting too well overall themes/mood of DA setting.
